    Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 46 - Featuring Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos
    The ogre turned demon Hidetsugu has broken free of the spirit realm to helm our latest Cut-Rate Commander build where he aims to burn down our opponents with huge cmc creatures.
    This time around we’ll be focusing on getting the most bang for our buck with Hidetsugu’s second ability to deal huge amounts of damage to our opponents life totals as we exile high CMC spells off the top of our deck. So of course that means we’ll be running a good number of high CMC spells, but these will have a twist - most of them will be able to either reduce their costs or be castable for alternate casting costs, making them much easier for us to then cast from exile instead of just using them for their damage, enabling to both get the burn in and then get the extra body or effect in afterwards without having huge stockpiles of mana (usually). But we’ll need to make sure we can get those cards on top of our deck for our commander to hit, so we’ll also be running plenty of self-reanimating creatures to feed to our commander for his scry effect, as well as other ways to return our cards from our grave or hand to the top of our deck to be used by him. And since we’ll be running lots of sacrifice fodder, we’ll of course be running plenty of aristocrats’ payoffs to insure we get extra value out of our sacrifices as we use them up to get us extra resources and pump even more damage into our opponents. And from there it will only be a matter of time before the Hidetsugu reduces our opponent’s life totals to dust.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead. Also, let me know know who you would like to see next by voting on in the comments on the three choices of commander listed at the end of the video.

    Thanks for this Tech, been wondering the best way to build around the new Hidestugu for awhile and this seems like a great brew!

      Glad to hear that your enjoying the content (makes it all worth while!) and thanks for voting! Hinata is certainly a interesting commander to build around, so lets see if she can get a build before we switch over to New Capenna!

    Nice video! You covered a lot of commander redundancy in this list and I respect that.

    Truly this deck, like the ogre that is its commander, has layers. And as a result, it is truly an all star. Good job as always!
    My vote goes to Hinata, because I admittedly have a Jeskai bias. Also, ruling shenanigans are better than Standard PTSD and Voltron in my book.
    Day 244 of waiting for Grazzet's fave reveal. Say, if you could have a card to give the Dracula/Godzilla Alter Treatment, which card would it be and what character will it be altered into?

      Thank you for the continued support as always and thanks for casting your vote!
      Alters are so fun honestly that its hard to pick just one. My dream alters would have to be Jared Carthalion, True Heir as Scar from the Lion King (since he's all about taking the monarch form himself) and Hans Eriksson as Johnny Bravo (since he's effectively "cat-calling" monster from the deck who them beat him up).

    Gotta go with my girl Greasefang. Lots of decks out there on the other two.

      Thanks for for voting! She's certainly an interesting build around for orzhov vehicle reanimator, so lets see if she can take the top spot this time around!

    If you're going to dig that deep for cheap protection from wraths etc in black, why not just use Shade's Form? It lets you get ltb/etb effects and has the best pump black has! Yeah it only works once but you can cast it on something you want to sac twice to double up on some clutch effect. It's good when you want to be aggressive because the pump is real, it's good on your sac things, and it makes them work twice as hard to kill your commander.

      Shade's Form is certainly an interesting card but I feel like this builds would not be able to make the most use our of it. The one time bounce back from the grave is nice but our commander doesn't have a ETB effect to take advantage of this, nor does he make use of the pump either as most of the damage will come from his topdeck burn effect. May be worth running in other decks however as a protection source.

    Mortuary would be a great card in this deck!

      I thought about this card in testing but it is actually a non-bo with our sac fodder, which we want to go the grave instead of on top of our deck (since this trigger is mandatory). Would be a good include in another build not so focused around self reanimators (maybe more token oriented).

    Just want to leave my 2 cents here, but if you are able to put an Infect tweak on Hidetsugu-chan, he'll have oneshot potential, so Tainted Strike, Phyresis, Glistening Oil and Grafted Exoskeleton are some good additions... 🙂

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +2

      That is.... a very good point. Now in my defense, when I made this deck intially, Grafted Exoskeleton had not been reprinted, but yeah - infect would be a great direction to take Hidetsugo to one shot opponents. Great suggestion!

    Can this be competitive. I want to try it out

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад

      Depends on what you mean by "competitive". Generally a good rule of thumb is that the builds I feature hear are about power level 4 - 6 - which is often fine for most kitchen table magic and commander with friends but way below cEDH builds. For this build, I would say its a power level 5.
      Hope that gives you a better idea about the builds competitiveness
