ah man, I was looking forward to this because the original creators were involved from the start, but then they left because of "creative differences" with Netflix it looks like we are not getting the live action that the animation deserves because Netflix ruined it but not allowing the original creators the free reign they needed to make the best live action it could have been.
Avatar was one of those creative properties that should've been taken away from the creators after they completely trashed their work in Korra and disrespected the character of Aang.
I actually liked the show. And I'm a big fan of the original show. Hear a lot of people talk about the pace, but I mean they cut quite a bit of the unnecessary stuff. The pacing made sense as they do travel to a lot of places each episode. Plus each episode was like 20 minutes long. So like making a tv show out of it, so again there is gonna be cuts from it. Anyhow, I think this was a really good show. And likely the best we will ever get as turning a animation/cartoon series into a TV show is a very very difficult job to do. Edit/Spoiler I guess: Didn't like the whole Koh part of this season. And tbh, my favorite episodes were 2, 6, and 8. Episode 1 was pretty much a proluge, but a good one. Personally, I never like the 1st episodes that much.
i actually don't mind they remove that sexist trait of Sokka, they actually made Sokka cooler in this, and they make zuko character even better in this, especially with lieutenant Jee, which is absent from the original, my memories might be faded about the original but these 2 are very weird: 1. Katara suddenly become very good just learning from the scroll 2. Aang learn very little water bending compared to the animated series
@@Moth_Movies also, 1 minor detail that contradict what sokka said to hahn : fire nation armor doesnt have spike anymore, well, in this series they do have spike
i guess am too loyal to the original animated series. i will give the show 7/10. Netflix did great but there is a lot they shouldn't have changed. But for what i hated most was every time they revealed that Aang is the avatar. since he was lost for 100 years and some people had started to believe he was a myth, it was always mind blowing when he revealed him self. it would give you that "🤯noooo way" feeling. In fact even Aang himself would be surprised when someone recognized him. But in the live action they just mention it like he was gone for a week.
Nah bro, It wasn't awful, I'll admit the show wasn't as good as the original but it definitely wasn't bad, it had it's cons but its pros outweighed the cons and for that I'll give it a 7/10 cus it has potential and hopefully if given the chance to make S2, they'll learn from their mistakes made in S1
Just here to share my thoughts: - At the end, Azula looked like a kid dressing up for Halloween; her costume was kind of big for her, especially the helmet, which she didn't even wear in the animated series. - Mai wasn't as chill as in the original. - I was waiting for Ty Lee's acrobatics. - Aang didn't even try to learn waterbending. - Aang's first crying scene didn't have tears falling from his eyes. 🙃 - Katara is just too perfect. She only needs a scroll to be a master waterbender. - Sokka's sexist behavior is gone. - Aang's tattoos should glow immediately instead of the glow slowly filling up the tattoos. - Zuko is also perfect, but they could have removed his left eyebrow; it's bugging me. - There's something off about Bumi, like his laughs are obviously fake or forced. This is what I disliked the most. - Avatar Roku is a serious person, but he was portrayed as a joker in this live action. - Avatar Kiyoshi is portrayed perfectly, again, in my opinion. Overall, I'd give Netflix a 7/10 from my perspective.
The show is actually pretty good. The only problem is Azula is not evil ENOUGH This is way better than the original movie. Bemmy did seem a little bit off but at the same time that’s exactly what he was he was Naturally awkward and that’s a part of his character so if you looked off he is off Do it is 100 years old still talking in riddles
show was definitely better then movie but still a let down pacing wise i recon the show should of been at least 12 episodes with better pacing for it. They cut so many corners with the story and we never see Aang train water-bending he just trained Katara mostly. some changes i liked some i didn't but mostly it was forced blink and you miss it story pacing, lack of training by Aang and other things they changed which they didn't need to.
A blatant cash grab. Not for lack of trying, everything looks amazing but the story is super lacking in comparison to the source material and writing in general. It’s a whatever adaptation.
This comment is cap. Literally episode 1 they show Aang jumping from a building like its nothing and have him flying up to summon Appa but then makes a whole suspense scene of him falling from his glider as if they forgot their own retcon of Aangs bending. Or expositions after expositions of things they're going to show anyway like attacking the air temple. It's bad writing and there's scenes of people just standing together like a high school play moving and standing together just to fill the scene. It doesn't feel lived in like their clothes looking cheap and out the box. They had the look with the opening scene with the earth bender to only drop the ball on the throne room right afterwards. Iroh is a gem in the show but written so corny here. Zuko has a nice twist which shows more of his dual nature. Sokka funny but they stole Katara "mother" role of the group trying to get Sokka to grow up to making him the "grown up" and Katara the rebel teen. They not only literally gave her no lines like that awkward scene with Jett but knocked her down to make Sokka better. They inadvertently made the show more sexist by removing Sokka misogyny. It not terrible and isn't bad or even good at moments but the show is great. When you do the time of the actual scenes between show and animation, its a difference of 10 min but has literally stumbled narratively. It took a 9/10 (10/10 for some) and brought it down to a 5/10 (6/10 if you're a fan). Literally new viewers are like meh and watching the animation immediately afterwards are like wtf happened? Why didn't they just do this?
It's not great, they ruined the main purpose of book 1. Roku need to talk about the comet and how Aang need to start studying other element. That's why Aang started to learn waterbending with Katara even though he hasn't reached the north pole yet. But in live action, Aang never trying to study anything. The live action ruined it, and change it with Aang crying help to the other angry screaming avatar. It feels so wrong. They have to learn from one piece live action, how they use source material to make good live action
@@TMH-Quest The directors want to pursue their own vision, believing viewers prefer "Game of Thrones" over Avatar. The creators of Avatar departed because the director aimed to prioritize his narrative instead of incorporating suggestions from the original creator.
I haven't watched it yet, since I just extended my netflix subscription now. But from what I get in this review here, it's all kinda fixable and can be more improved in the next book. We haven't seen toph yet, and more emotional scenes in the future. Kinda hope for the good experiences when I watch this actually. Don't get me wrong, big fan here, and kinda upset with some of the castings from this video to be fair.

For castings, I gotta admit, i'm not a fan of this team Azula lmfao I'm sorry. But still, I'll give 7/10 for the movie overall. Hope there's a book 2 and some fixes for the battle durations and add more important scenes.

This has great potential for Korra if they ever adapt. Of course, this series would be redeemed if Zutara happened.
