      As long as there is a remembrance, even if that takes a form perverted into one form or other (romanticized as greatness, or vilified into darkness), then there's an immortality.
      The metaphysics of the Force are, at least in speculative debate, not unlike the magics/mysticism of Terra. Also, like the schism in that galaxy, belief based on duality of following only one of two paths has occurred based on dogmatic practices. Though, sometimes to have better understanding of the Light, one needs to perceive truth in the Darkness.

    • @kreorporus1487

      This is a misunderstanding many fans have. I also thought that way before but I had to accept that this is not what George Lucas meant by "balance". The force itself is neither light nor dark. But the Jedi utilizing the light side of the force to preserve peace and life is exactly what is keeping balance since there is a symbiosis between the force and life as a whole. The Sith and other dark side users utilize the force in an unnatural way by bending it to their will and oftenly against peace and life. Therefore the Sith were always the cause of imbalance.
      Of course that does not mean, that it cannot be helpful in the long run to study the dark side and aknowledge peoples weakness to fall for its power.

      I agree that the grey are doing it right. You can not have light without darkness and you can not have the dark without light. You can not have right without wrong and goodness without evil. To deny one and pretend you are only of that, is to lose sight of the other. Without knowledge of evil, how can you know if you are actually committing evil. So many people in history AND fiction do evil things, thinking they are doing good. A major example of this is Hitler. He actually believe he was doing something good for humanity, that he was on the side of god. He believed those that opposed him were evil. Yet no one else would claim that, even his supporters.

    When the final trilogy was announced, I was hoping that they were going to go down that line of story. It would have been interesting to show that the power of the Sith is from being outnumbered by the Jedi, and that the force seeks balance. It would have been very interesting to see that the Jedi had to return to the old ways to end the conflict and bring balance.

      The ancient Sith had numbers comparable to the Jedi from various eras and produced some of the strongest Sith lords that have ever existed. The Sith's strength comes from the dark side being better at maiming, poisoning, and killing than the light side, not in having fewer members.

    Thanks, I knew from reading various Star War novels about how the original Jedaii used both Ashla and Bogan ( sorry if the sp. is wrong!). I remember reading that while they recognized a balance between the two sides, if one indulged in too much time only on the “dark side”;one was required to: go on a retreat to meditate and reawaken the balance, and that separation was necessary in order to harm others while rebalancing. The two sides of Jedi and Sith actually “got it wrong!“. That is why so many truly powerful Jedi fell to the dark side, because no one showed them how to integrate, carefully align, and keep in balance the power of Bogan with the righteous protection of Ashla. If the ancient Jedaii were right, then we really need stories just about ,them, as well as perhaps a new series of how future Jedi and Sith find their way back to a unified Jedaii Order!

      @@tylermiller3120 I agree with this statement. As we know, the duality of the force was the entire premise of the whole of the Star Wars saga. It would've made sense to have Luke try and return the Jedi Order back to the neutrality of the Jedaii. Since he did have the ancient Order Tomes that he had read and memorized, you'd think that that duality between the light and dark would lead him back to the legendary planet where the Jedaii first began. • @joshuagodinez5867
      @joshuagodinez5867 2 года назад

      It could go either way. The combination could make them more powerful or the two sides could have a balancing effect on each other making spectacular abilities impossible. Incorporating both would seem to be represented by anyone trained in the light and descending into the dark which would mean the force user would be most powerful when in the middle of the transition. Since none of the dark Jedi were more powerful than the emperor (while transitioning from light to dark) that wouldn't seem to be the case. So, for the mix to be powerful there would have to be some conscious blend. If that made them more powerful then there's no reason why someone would choose only one path and lose power and affinity with the force. Maybe there's a side-effect that isn't particularly pleasant. Then you'd have a motivation to leave this powerful state and move toward the absolutes of light and dark.

    This is true balance because neither the Jedi or the Sith are correct, the Je'daii are the true corrected choice here. Some of this I already had known, though was wise enough to understand there was more. For what I did not know & you brought forth, I thank you.
    With over 30 millennia from the schism to the Battle of Yaven, speculation on what/how much of history would change if the split of the Je'daii that preceded the formation of the current Jedi & Sith. The balance is a hard keep belief/idea, being similar to the Yin/Yang of Tao Buddhism, & my ponderings on is that the schism was a trial. One in many that have happened.
    If the schism did not happen at that point, there most likely would have been other times a similar event could cause an equivalency of separation. The many conflicts of ideas had many micro-schisms within the Jedi order (the break a way groups) and from outside (any conflicts/wars with other Forces based groups, even their former own), which I base my musings on.
    Many of those conflicts/diversion between Force users this channel, and I thank you for bringing forth those as well.
    While many view items/subject like this only as Legends, there still room for it to be Canonical History: as long as minds are open & no new facts (Canon) conflict with (at least in my head).

    Yet why the Je"daii did not rebuild afterward like the Jedi did through the eons ?

    • @eds1942
      @eds1942 3 года назад

      Presumably, when Bogan split from Ashla, it split the Force itself. Lucas didn’t really say much more about the era than that before he OK’d the EU writers at Dark Horse to develop that era.
      A more practical explanation would start with being isolated in the Tython system and living on a world where each of your Order’s factions have to work in harmony with each other and nature to keep their world habitable or risk being exiled alone or going insane is one thing, while having a whole galaxy to explorer and keep the peace in where individuals or the different factions of your Order could just chose to break away and move off to their own far off corner of the galaxy if they decide that they no longer agree with the High Council is quite another.

    • @MrAranton
      @MrAranton 3 года назад +4

      The Je'dai did not see the aspects of the force through a lense of morality like the jedi do. The Je'dai did not assign moral evaluations to Ashla or Bogan; to them they were aspects of the living force and calling one of it evil and the other good made to them about much sense as calling tails on a coin good and heads evil. To the jedi on the other hand everything Ashla is good and everything Bogan is evil. Asking jedi to rebuild the je'dai amounts to asking them to find a balance with the most evil thing they can imgaine. They're not going to participate in such an endeavour. On top of that: Because je'dai seek to integrate the dark side into their force usage, jedi would probably consider them dark-side users that are dangerous and try to eradicate them "to protect the galaxy from the dark side".
      After the various wars between different incarnations of Sith Empire and Galactic Republic the general public seems to have the same good-vs-evil view on the Force the jedi have. They, too would probably see je'dai who use both the light and the dark side as a threat. Even if the galaxy wouldn't outright attack a reformed je'dai order, that order's reputation in the general population would make it nigh impossible for them to recruit new members.

    I'm glad that people are starting to see the fake facade of the Jedi. We need a film about the Jedai. This is the story of the Jedai that I've been looking for. The division of the Force into light and dark at war is a deep misunderstanding of the Force of life and this misunderstanding has always restrained my enjoyment of Star Wars. Which comics discuss the Jedai?
    Zen Buddhism is the way of the Jedai, not the Jedi. Here's an excerpt from a famous Zen verse:
    Right in the middle of the light there is dark, don’t use the mutuality of darkness to meet it.
    Right in the middle of the dark there is light; don’t use the mutuality of the light to see it.
    Light and dark are mutual polarities, for example, like front and back steps."

      This is reasoning form metaphor. The light side is not yang. The dark side is not yin. The light side is the five precepts the dark is the five hindrances. There's no balance between these two. The "balance" you're talking about is closer to the western consept of apatheia. A Stoic term that implys a freedom form the passions.
      It's unfortunate that light and dark is the metaphor chosen, because it dose lead to this kind of confusion. However that is what George Lucas had in mind when creating the universe.

      @@myself2noone This is a good point about what the Buddha taught. Sadly, people who hear "light" and "dark" translate that without reference to the Buddha Way. However, you are still wrong about there being "no balance" between wrong-doing and dortiing-good when stated in as absolute dichotomy. The Middle Way and the Eight-fold path are defined by balance. Smrti means to be aligned in balance.

    Considering the Thoyor (spelling?) kind of showed up and shepherded a bunch of force sensitives to a planet makes me wonder where THEY came from. But then again the random dark-side user crashing into their planet also brings up questions
    Idk, I like it but the plot makes me want more scene to fill up the spaces. After creating my fan-fiction about the origins of both Jedi and sith I really would like to see a good, nicely paced story about the origins of the Jedi, centering around maybe one or two characters

    The Jedi were so blinded by their own dogma that all their talk of bringing "balance" to the force could never be accomplished unless they accepted that Dark and Light are simply 2 sides of the same coin, and that you cannot have one without the other. The Grey Jedi have it right. You must know both the Light AND the Dark to truly be able to balance the force. The Je'dai were right.

    We have no way of saying how things would have happened threw out star wars lore. Like in real life, everything that happens in star wars is suppose to happen, and have meanings, no matter which way it was. Is why I love stories like this, much like Naruto, everything comes in full circle and they're all intertwined in some way. Like Murphys law... what can happen, will happen. This is why, if the story teller is great, we can have amazing stories like star wars or Naruto and we will be captivated by how the story plays out

      Except that's not how literally anything works. Works of fiction can be changed at a moments notice by their owners, so we can theorize all we want about how the future would change in-universe because it's not set in stone. All of Legends got erased and is being rewritten despite at one point it being "what was supposed to happen." All imagination ceases and the human species loses any reason to continue living if we just stop imaging. At that point we may as well create robots and all kill ourselves.
      That aside, fate isn't real, you know that, right? Like I could just decide to burn someone's house down for absolutely no reason, or I could not, and that's just a choice I made, it isn't written in stone somewhere, you're aware of that right? Fate is something we made up to make all the bad shit feel like it wasn't pointless, like needless deaths of innocent people aren't as bad as they seem because it's all supposed to happen this way. I'll put it to you this way, there's a saying I hold near and dear to my heart for occasions in which magical plans or inevitable fate is brought up, "Any plan that involves children dying of cancer isn't a plan worth following." There's no plan, my man, there's only chaos until you die and get to stop being chaosed at.

    I think a mix of both would have been good.
    On the other hand, the Jedi order survived millennia, so it can't be that bad. It was more or less the Sith and a corrupt Republic which led to their fall.

    • @claytonwhitman2611
      @claytonwhitman2611 2 года назад

      Perhaps. My take on that is something different. I believe that the "modern" Jedi order was aware of the gaps and failings in their teachings, but were afraid of trying to re-integrate a more balanced course of study and approach to using the force because they feared that would cause a a lot of strife and turmoil, which would mean a lot of people being hurt in the long run. Imagine that the Force is like a pendulum blade, with the old ways of the Jed'Daii being the center point or balance, or neutral if you will. And the Jedi at one end and the Sith at the other, both extremes and opposing each other. When Anakin Skywalker came along and Qui Gon Gin felt he was perhaps the one spoken of in the legend, who would bring balance to the Force, the Jedi council said that he would NOT be trained. WHY would the council NOT want to allow balance to come to the Force? I think they knew that, the Jedi being such strong champions of Light, their current situation was not true Balance of the Force. They feared (rightly I believe) that any adjustment to bring balance would not just stop of itself in the middle, in the position of balance. It would normally swing towards the opposite end of the spectrum, towards the Sith, towards the Dark. This would ALSO be a position of imbalance, and then it would swing again toward the middle, going past it, and so on and so forth, until finally it would seek the Natural Balance between the Light and the Dark. I believe the Jedi Council knew this, and feared the chaos and destruction that seeking "balance" to the Force would bring for their order as well as for the Republic and the greater galaxy at large. The Jedi and the Sith both teach an "extremist dogma" if you will. Neither is a balanced approach to the Force. While many might say that more good can be done from a more light-sided approach, I think this may be an over simplification. The Dark side is just as powerful and seductive as the Light side. The Light side, when too strong, can lead to stagnation, which in turn can lead to corruption and rot (Dark side influences). The Dark side is easy to over indulge in, because it gives power so easily and allows for misuse by selfish and evil people. However, most people instinctively seek a slightly conservative position in life, with many moderate points of view, and many "reasonable" progressive points. In essence, they mix both sides in moderation, and find their own balance. Too much Dark side leads to true evil, and abuses of power and people, which in turn encourages people to push back, to rebel against tyranny and oppression. So the extremes have their own pitfalls, their own checks and balances which encourage a self-limitation or a self-imposed balance.
      Anyways, that was my take on why the council refused to allow Qui Gon Gin to train Anakin. They feared what the greater implications of the prophecy would be, and they could not envision a way to accomplish true balance without the chaos and destruction such a process would necessarily bring. And perhaps, they may have also selfishly desired to stay in power. Perhaps this was not recognized as selfish, but certainly I can see it was misguided. A balanced Force, without movement, would be in my humble opinion impossible to attain or maintain. Outside forces, and internal pressures, would cause small movements of the center or balance point. This is natural, the ebb and flow of LIFE. Seeking to follow or ride the center point, the balance point, is a difficult thing. Just look at our human world, our politics and personal relationships, and you will see the very same things. Even in nature things become unbalanced, and then something happens, something explodes or lets go, and then finally nature will correct itself and bring itself back to the middle, finding balance once again. It is always moving, adjusting, acting and reacting. Always seeking balance. And perhaps, never quite achieving it... but always seeking it, nevertheless.
