HIDDEN Achlys Stubber Buffs in Patch 15?! - Darktide

  • Clickbaity title, I know, but this is important information.
    Full list of Achlys changes:
    Faster deploy speed and reduced delay-to-fire after swapping to it
    Faster reload speed
    Reduced spread while braced, even further reduced while crouched
    Improved movement speed while braced
    Kickback nerf:
    Minimum pellet count from 16 to 12. Used to 10 before Patch 14, so now in some kind of middle ground. Still oneshots horde enemies at range, but nothing bigger than that.
    Also important for Ogryns:
    Bleed damage against Unyielding reduced slightly (so less DPS on bosses)
    Explosions weaker against Monstrosities (sad days for Rumbler)

    I found that even before the update, the Achlys was the best stubber for longevity. It basically never ran out of ammo and got tons of value out of each pickup, so you could use it to clear hordes (very fast I might add) or suppress groups of shooters at a decent distance without feeling like you are wasting ammo. It is by far my favorite stubber because it really gives you that "support machine gunner" feel, almost never needing to use my melee weapon. Seeing these buffs is great, wish they'd document it though lol

    This is great to hear, ive been trying really hard to like this gun because of the fastest dakka output but its terrible accuracy paired with how many gunners started showing up in recent patches(only been playing auric maelstrom and damnation), made it so even shotguns were a better option at taking them out at longer ranges. Because of this I havent even tried it since the most recent update, been only rocking the gorgonzola. Seems like its in a great place now and I cant wait to try it out again after getting off work.
    On a side note, while the fire rates and damage profiles of stubbers are different i wish we had more differences between them. Make the gorgonzolas base firerate a little slower still, but make it so it increases firerate during continuous fire, to cement its biggest dps and anti armor role. Increase the base spread of base stubber a little, continous fire would tighten its spread instead of increasing it, making it almost pinpoint accurate when reaching current max spread,so it has its identity as a long range powerhouse. They could even add these two modifiers as blessings on all stubbers down the line

    Thank you so much for this, very helpful.
    I'd permanently sidelined the Achleys because of its awful, AWFUL spread pattern that rendered it useless as an actual RANGED weapon beyond melee distance lol.
    With these new buffs, it now offers exactly what I want in a ranged option for my Ogey; Accuracy and a snappy response. I'm actually going to get roll one of these up right now.
    Also, thank you for confirming that my Kickback was nerfed, I thought I was going nuts with some kinda bad luck that stuff wasn't dying. But I was certain my "soup cannon" wasn't turning heretics to soup as effectively as before 😆
    Ah well, I'll miss it but, I have to admit it was rather absurdly overturned before :/
    At least it's still strong enough to use and wasn't over-nerfed.

      I've loved both guns for a good while now and the recent love to both makes me very happy. The ammo wasn't touched on kickback which is very appreciated, and oh boy these Achyles buffs....
      Haven't played them since schools getting close to finals and several big projects are due but.... Like so long as the old rage was something you could tolerate it was great with the right build and stacked beautifully with the different abilities on the gunlugger abilities due to the sheer amount of bullets for burn stacks and DPS potential when you removed the whole "armor" issue with the rend option.....
      That and I got a near god rolled one at orange rarety with blaze away and the power on 4 single target hit blessing like the second I hit lv 30 l.
      Basically I was definitely eating well with it as my best roll and considering that gorgonzola just..... Isn't ever a decent roll for me for some reason so yeah..... I am a bit biased to it, also these buffs make me extra happy as a result of this.

      If it doesn't wipe bosses anymore... I'm not sure what it's use is now. Just a low damage stagger spam for human-sized enemies? :/

    • @samfish2550
      @samfish2550 10 месяцев назад

      Dang I never even got to try that because the game REFUSES to give me the sticky nade blessing. Probably still preforms well enough damage wise since you can still get...
      (20% rending on direct hit blessing + 5% rend base + 15% rend elite kill + 25% dmg mod for you and your team)
      - maybe your best option since it's still very high rend potential at near or over 100% even without the elite buff with a damage mod from your taunt giving the ability to go beyond rend boost + clumping up holds and specials for better damage distribution.
      Or
      (20% rend on direct hit plus 30% rend on it or up to 15% power on ult IF point blank effects blast damage)
      - biggest boon here is that if you can stagger bully bosses at all in the current patch you're only chance is with 70% faster reload speed, also you have full control over your rend, though it's kind of overkill, so id honestly go for the higher close range damage depending on how it interacts with the delayed blast. You do trade efficiency for DPS no matter what you go with here over taunt.

    it's hard to keep up with all the different weapon balancing that they do. by the time i finally have a good roll on a weapon that fills a certain niche, they either nerf it or buff something else to be better. for example, the kickback went from being a meme weapon to being a very strong pick, and now it's hard to determine if it's still worth using or if something like the achlys will feel better. ik its all pretty subjective, but build videos and "meta" picks always feel like a good place to start.

    I still love the G-gun, for its crazy knockdown/stagger, and pennatration against horde. The new A-gun also great, be able to whip it out and start blasting is priceless. They together do make their middle brother, the K-gun, looks so bad.

      @flipsvstheworld 10 месяцев назад

      @@OhLookItsTekona I wasn't referring to the alternate fire charge. Just the miniscule charge the primary fire has for every shot. Bolters and plasma guns just feel clunky rather then chunky with okay-ish payoff and reliability.

    • @OhLookItsTekona
      @OhLookItsTekona 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@flipsvstheworld I play exclusively on Auric, and I can assure you the Plasma isn't as bad as you make it out to be.
      The delay on basic shots is not that bad at all. Unless you got a super low charge time roll. With max charge time roll, it's a 0.6s delay before firing, but in trade you get a shot that has a FAT hitbox (very forgiving for sloppy aim), 2-taps every elite/special, has a ludicrous amount of cleave, has a destructive amount of stagger, and to top it all off it a has super high suppression value. The Plasma gun is also unaffected by enemy suppressing fire, since it's all hipfire.
      The 0.6s trigger delay hardly matters when everything you're shooting in the general direction of either dies or is CC'd. Also the cleave lets you get to ANY special or elite that's hiding behind a horde, no more body blocking from enemies. Crushers, Maulers, Bulwarks become as good as fodder due to the sheer amount of stagger and damage being pumped into their face.
      It's a great weapon, but the only major downside I could give it is the ammo usage. You can't run it as a "sole" primary, but if you run Scavenger and use your melee frequently, the thing is a beast in your pocket.
      Sorry for the essay lol. tl;dr, the plasma gun is awesome, i just think it requires a different playstyle. I play a lot of revolver on my other characters, and this thing is basically a huge revolver on steroids for the veteran. it's super nice to just quickdraw, blast something out of existence, and switch back to melee.

    • @thefiend8380
      @thefiend8380 10 месяцев назад

      Maniacs are ragers(both types), mutants, both scab and toxic flamers, trappers. Flak armor is most common type of armored enemy in the game and make up the majority of shooters, maulers and scab ragers. Crit chance bc if you run charmed reload everytime you crit you get bullets from your reserved put directly into your gun which allows you to shoot longer and deal more damage before needing to reload.

    • @FireAnt
      @FireAnt 10 месяцев назад

      @@thefiend8380 Scab Rager is actually all Flak and has not a single Maniac DMG zone. Crit Chance is not a must, Flak is actually better for reliability, DMG wise, but Crit Chance for Stubbers work with way higher effeciency simply due to Stubbers Crit Chance Chain mechanic, where when a shot triggers a crit it will have 6 crits shots in a row with 5 of them not being treated as crit for rolling the pRNG for fetching crits. Making a small Crit Chance actually make Stubbs crit relatively often. Easy to test in the grinder against a Crusher.
