- A furious dispute between neighbors led to one of the homeowners splitting the difference - his neighbor’s garage. Maine resident Gabriel Brawn said that he and his next door neighbor have had years of disagreements, many of which have escalated. Police say disputes between them were “weekly at least.” After Brawn discovered that half of his neighbor’s garage was technically on his property, he decided to literally saw the garage in half, leaving only his neighbor’s garage side standing. #InsideEdition

The whole story is there in the video. One neighbor’s garage (half of it) was on the other neighbors land. Constant disputes and last thing the neighbor did was demolished the party of the garage that was on his land.

There is an article about this. The neighbors were friends until the husband died and the wife moved away leaving the place to renters. From what it said they knew about the property issue but didn’t mind since they were on friendly terms. The son of the deceased father and now destroyed garage wouldn’t let the neighbor drive on their “property” to have a truck pick up down trees in the back yard so the neighbor got a survey done again and then sawed the garage off to reclaim his property.

Noah Fisher It’s pretty self explanatory. He obviously didn’t “pay rent” or else he wouldn’t have torn it down. Also, if this man wanted to sell his house, he couldn’t because the damn neighbors built on his property. When selling a home, you still have to follow rules and regulations or your home can’t be sold or brought. Some rules allow you to sell your home but when sold, the new home owners have to get the situation resolved before moving in. That turns away buyers.

The owner of the garage could sue with a lawyer I would think. The demolition of the one side would cause structural damage to the other side.
Wouldn't you figure that is an incomplete build? The problem is really on their side now. They need a real inspection, maybe it will even be condemned. There should be a 5-15 ft fire set back when you build next to neighbor's property border.

When someone builds on your property-you take it down. They have no legal recourse and could even be taken to court. It shows malice, harassment, trespassing and violating the property owners right to ‘quiet enjoyment’ since this has been an ongoing problem over property rights. I would put cameras up and take the neighbor to court and keep a journal.
