    I'm impressed with him understanding a terrible person like Doyle being trapped in himself. He did such a great job. His quiet, thoughtful manner is the exact opposite of the character.

    Just watched Sling Blade again and I forgot how good Dwight was in that film. It's a great movie all together, with some great acting all around.

    Dude, TO THIS DAY, I STILL come across people in conversation about Sling Blade that had no idea that Doyle was Dwight Yoakam. Just further cements the fact that Dwight is a true artist in every sense of the word. As a musician, as an actor. This guy is an absolute phenom. I’ve seen him live five times, I’m very proud of that fact, and I can’t wait to see him live again. He’s the best!!

    The way he breaks down the complexity of the Doyle character here really makes you see why he did such a stellar job in this movie. He wasn't just playing the villain; there was a depth to it.

    I think "Doyle" is more a real part of Dwight Yoakam and his upbringing and personal history than Dwight would like to admit.

    • @gatormangrove3129
      @gatormangrove3129 Год назад +2

      What would make you come to that conclusion? Billy Bob Thornton wrote the screenplay for this great movie. The characters were hybrids of Billy Bob's upbringing in Arkansas. Dwight Yoakam didn't write his part. It's called acting for a reason.
