I know I wasn't supposed to tell, but it was arranged for Dwight to visit my dying mom in a nursing home in Austin, Tx in the early 1990s. I wasn't there, but I was given a picture by my brother of them together, and I proudly have it all these years later. She was so thrilled. She passed away shortly after his visit. What a wonderful man.

That is amazing, wow! I love Dwight so much I’ve seen him live five times, the most recent a couple weeks ago in Sugarland TX. He is such an amazing and true artist. One of a kind. And evidently a very amazing person, how awesome of him to visit your mom like that, that is absolutely lovely!
I got to meet Dwight around 3 years ago at a concert. My husband surprised me with a meet and greet experience for my birthday. He didn’t tell me until we got to the venue and I was so nervous! I’ve been a fan since I was around 9. When we went back to see him, my husband told him it was my birthday and he was so sweet! He hugged me and signed my T-shirt. Which isn’t something they tell you isn’t “allowed” during the meet and greet. But he did it because it was my birthday. He also told me I smelled really good and I said “it’s Shalimar.” (Which made me feel like a complete moron because by that time I was ready to melt into the floor) and he was holding my hand and he put it to his heart and said “Oh my! Like Lauren Bacall.” I said “yes! Exactly.” His eyes are so blue and he is tall. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I’ve seen him in concert 3 times and his shows are just as good now as the first time I saw him when I was 13. He’s a darling and I will always love him. ❤
That’s awesome!! He’s the best! I’ve seen him live five times now, most recently a couple weeks ago in Sugarland TX! He’s one of my all time favorite artists ever!! Puts on great shows!
I met him years ago, and I was surprised that he's tall. I'm a tall female, and it seems that whenever I've met my male musical heroes, they've turned out to be relatively short. Waylon Jennings was also tall. Great country outlaws, both of them.
Yea, The Bakersfield sound had been pretty much over since Don rich Died in July 1974. Having Dwight come around when he did absolutely was a benefit not only to the Bakersfield sound and its continuation but it pulled Buck out of a deep depression he had been in since Don was killed. Way to go Dwight!
I’ve always loved the sound of Dwight’s voice before I ever saw him in person seeing him finally in a video!! Yes, I thought he was sexy looking, however, when I finally saw him in person he was past that stage in his. No more tight jeans but slacks, shirt and jacket!! The voice was the same and that was what I liked to begin with!! I like the sound of his honky Tonk voice.
I’ve seen him twice in the last five years and I think he’s phenomenal!!! I’m 35 I’ve been listening to him since 1992. Sizable part of my life. He’s traditional country music with elements of classic rock and I love it!!!!!!!

As a kid I didn't quite get it and even at times Dreaded the name Dwight Yoakam coming on, but as I grew up and truly sat down and listened, it felt like the sweetest little memory that kept on giving. Back in the 90s I was working on a patio home development here in Louisville, Kentucky and an older gentleman came into our model unit and was interested in possibly purchasing one and introduced himself as Mr. Yoakam and after talking for a while I discovered he was Dwight’s dad. He did purchase a unit and for the next few years until the project was finished I got to know him a little bit and he was a fine feller. Very proud of his son.

That nasal twang is so unique, something that can't be duplicated by anyone, as opposed to standard country, in which all the guy singers sound the same. His voice really attracts the mind to the story in the song . My favorite album, which never gets mentioned, is the all acoustic one,, which is just his awesome voice and an acoustic guitar. His "Two Doors Down" leaves you sunk in the funky sadness of a man dying from a broken heart. To me, it's the number one song in the album . I love Dwight .

Saw him in March of this year (2022) in Owensboro, Kentucky. I'm from Los Angeles but, was staying in Las Vegas when I found out he'd be performing in Kentucky, his home state. I'd recently heard about Toby Keith's health issues and Alan Jackson's as well. And I had just missed seeing Garth Brooks and Ms. Dolly Parton at the CMA's at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas due to Covid so, I thought what the hell, you only live once. I got front row tickets and it was worth every penny. Checked that one off of my bucket list! I always like to see artists perform in their home states or hometowns if I can. They seem to perform differently than they do at other venues. (IMHO)
I friend of mine played Dwight's first album for me back in 86/87 and I was wowed. The album was really country and energetic and very well done. I thought this guy has really captured something special. I am glad things turned out for him and we get to hear more of his music.
He is God's gift to women I have been in love with him since the beginning and I still own every album he ever made. He would also fit in my Biker life style he is the best ❣️ 😍
Back in 86, he had a guest spot on the Ralph Emery Show that was aired on TNN. I heard him sing "Readin', Writin', Route 23" for the very first time. I knew right then he was gonna turn Country music around.
It used to be said that when a kid graduated high school there was a map to the northern cities on the back of the diploma. It's just a sarcastic saying bécause there's nothing there. He's really popular in Floyd &Pike county KY. Most people have a picture of him on their wall and claim kin ship.Cousin, aunt, uncle, etc. Everyone trying to grab on the coattail of his fame and fortune. Patty Loveléss is from that area too.
You did son time to STFU... LOVE YOU BIG... Just went through a divorce took a little time off to study country all I come out with is you and Pete and raise my soul that's all there is to it bless your heart you ain't got to apologize to nobody!
Well I love him! He’s a good singer and actor I wish he was played more on the radio and see him more on TV. Come on Dwight let’s hear from you again! Love you always, Connie from S.C. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I went to his concert in Calgary and he dropped in to A Honky-tonk in Calgary and I got to see him close up and danced to his music. I loved him then and I'm still playing his music.
Nashville and CMA is a combined clannish collaboration that can make you or break you and personally I’m glad he marches to the beat of a different drummer....himself.
Dwight is just so wonderful. The gospel is great. I love it. I just now realized he reminds me of Audie Murphy. I'll have to watch a movie of his. Great.
I remember the first music I'd ever heard was driving back and forth every weekend home to Baton Rouge from Houston with my dad in the middle of the night in his big lifted up red Chevy single cab and Dwight Yokam playing the whole way there and back. He'll always be my favorite music artist.
Can't remember all the concerts I've seen Dwight. Never once did I see, hear a poor performance. Stunning show, music, and seeing ladies rush down for a close view of his jeans.
Always enjoyed his music. He’s a man of his word n has enough confidence in himself to do it his way. I do miss his music n wonder what he’d be singing today in the year of 2022. He’s definitely a good actor but haven’t seen him in much of anything lately. Would love to know what he’s up to today. ❤

Nope not even close. I’m from Tx and everybody here is all about King George, and I get it, but I’ve always thought Dwight was a superior artist and I’ve always loved that he blazed his own trail and bucked the trend. That’s partly what makes him so appealing imo, I’m also the kind of person that goes against the grain. I remember reading how when he played punk rock clubs in L.A. he would gain fans of such a completely diametrically opposed style of music because that’s just how damn good and authentic he was. THAT’S the mark of a real artist!
His song Fast As You. Whenever it plays somewhere I am hanging out at, no kidding I wanna jump up on the table and lip sink and sway legs too. I freaking love that song.
My 1st husband who owned a West Hollywood music store (where Dwight bought his strings), played pedal steel guitar and sax with Dwight at The Coral in Pacoima, CA. It was about a legit honky tonk bar where people could ride their horses to. One night Dusty Springfield was there and sat in ...I had the nerve to sit in for my a song the same night. Another time he sat in my Datsun 200sx and played a cassette to sell the idea of contributing to what became his 1984 EP...that ultimately was the ticket to his success. Sadly, I didn't get involved and watched him catapult his career. Memories that are ever lasting.
Nashville thought Dwight was too country for country.Nashville just isn’t country enough for decades now.Bakersfield and the Texas outlaw sound is country. After the 1970’s Nashville lost its way.

But, for some reason I started playing Dwight Yoakam about a year ago and have listened to him so much that I’ve got most the words memorized to a LOT of his songs. I just really enjoy his sound - albeit 10 or 20 years later. I just love his music! (I also listen to his SXM channel a lot!)
I met him at a meet and greet in Upper Michigan after his concert...I was so infatuated with him that it was unbelievable and he put his arm around me for a picture ( he was wearing really tight pants and a jean jacket and he looked SO great...I told him.."I JUST LOVE you!!" He said, "Thank you sweety"
He was the only celeb that I ever wanted to see up close and he looked SO damn good...he topped it off by saying "Thank you sweety" to me when I told him how much I loved him and his music...I thought I was going to fall over...lol
@Sue Irving He was wearing really tight pants? No way! That's not the Dwight Yoakum I know.. Lol.. I'm just messing with you. Glad that you got to meet him
I'm fangirling over YOUR meet and greet. 🤣 love it!
@@roxannemoser I can die a happy girl!! Lol!!
@@roxannemoser I never went ever went nuts over a star before him and meeting him I had all these things that I wanted to say but my mouth wouldn't move..haha!@
He is definitely an icon. I love his music.
Im 67 years old and has been my favorite ever since I was 40 years old . back then it was cassettes I wore three cassettes out of this album that they're talking about loved it loved it love to White he's awesome
All of his songs reminds me so much of my life with my husband every single song right down to the last words, i want Dwight to know that!!
It's really hit home with my heart ❤️
This has been a very interesting and entertaining video . Given much more insight to the man and the artist. . Thank you so very much for sharing.
I saw him in 1986,and he brought Buck onstage, crowd went wild! he has always been and still is one of my faves
Love Dwight Yoakam's music!
He was and is the last great country artist in my opinion. Country has went down hill since. Hope to see him live some day !1
Jeff If you ever get the chance to see him live go for it I've seen him 8 times and did 4 of his meet and greets. His live shows are awesome worth every dime
Well, there is Chris Stapleton...
saw dwight numerous times back in the 80's. just fantastic.
(IMHO)
Dwight played a concert with Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers. Have you heard them?
Dwight is one of the greatest, if not the GREATEST! Love his music!!❤
I friend of mine played Dwight's first album for me back in 86/87 and I was wowed. The album was really country and energetic and very well done. I thought this guy has really captured something special. I am glad things turned out for him and we get to hear more of his music.
he is much sexier as a singer than an actor
I love Dwight Yoakum from Mississippi

He is God's gift to women I have been in love with him since the beginning and I still own every album he ever made. He would also fit in my Biker life style he is the best ❣️ 😍
I love Dwight!
Love Dwight
Amazing voice, So many great songs. And a super talented actor! Brilliant! 😊
Dwight inspired me to love country back in 1992.
I still play some of his songs on my guitar.
Love the sexy, handsome, man. Awesome voice, great singer.
Well I love him! He’s a good singer and actor I wish he was played more on the radio and see him more on TV. Come on Dwight let’s hear from you again! Love you always, Connie from S.C. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My favorite singer!!!
I saw him at the Palomino Club , early on , punk rockers and rockabilly kids , mied crown Awesome show
Dwight kicks ass !!!!
Dwight really didn’t know his own worth in his music abilities.
Back in the day most people in Columbus was from Kentucky and West Virginia. Route 23 south was always busy lol. Glad to see him make it big.
yes dwight never gets the credit he should
This guy smokes Elvis! Hands down by far! Dwight is a phenom! Amazingly talented man!
I believe he is a wonderful human being as well!
Well, hold on I would not go that far.
😂😂😂😂
I've never seen this before, thank you for posting! I love that TNN and CMT videos are starting to appear online.
Dwight is just so wonderful. The gospel is great. I love it.
I just now realized he reminds me of Audie Murphy. I'll have to watch a movie of his. Great.
He was so fine!!!!
I love his songs n I do have his greatest songs cd..its awesome..I rock to it when in going down the road...love it...
He’s married & has a baby. Probably enjoying his life.
His music well still make me cut a rug.😀
Love Dwight ❤️ have all his music.
Glad that I watched

In the 80's I was Dating a Guy that was a Spittin image of Dwight All except for He had Strawberry Blonde/Redish Hair. That was Before Dwight became Famous. BUT seeing Dwight, I'll Never Forget Stan!😊👍❤💯
He did a kickass cover of purple rain too strangely.
Miss him and Pete together
I loved dancing to Dwight!
First singer I’ve ever thought was fantastic. I just loved his singing and I don’t usually care about such things. Saw him in concert here in Toronto, what a great show, my whole family loved him, still do.
Thank you , Dwight. Loved you and Buck.
I found you in a Thow-out bin in a curbside market
You, and The Cure,
Bought both......in , 1989 ......for a KIna !
I don't think he gets the credit he deserves.
I've missed seeing Dwight Yoakam. I still love his music.❤
I have never been country & I'm still not .....but man! I LOVE his sound. It's high energy, it's genuine, and his own unique style.
I have and always will love Dwight
Saw he video loved his 🎵
Nashville thought Dwight was too country for country.Nashville just isn’t country enough for decades now.Bakersfield and the Texas outlaw sound is country. After the 1970’s Nashville lost its way.
His role in Sling Blade was a masterpiece but i also loved him in the Crank movies the most
Dwight is the epitome of style! He is handsome, so sexy, a GREAT singer I love him!❤️❤️❤️
