One of my all time favorite movies!! All the actors chosen for the characters in this movie was absolutely perfect. They're so many movies that use actors that butcher the southern dialect, all these people really looked and sounded like they were from the location of the movie. I just love Lucas Black he was soo the character he played. Dwight, John Ritter, the band was great, but also the woman (I've never seen her in anything else, she was so good for this part)who played the mother was so authentic, of course Robert Duvall is one of my all time favorites, and of course Billy Bob was perfect. Superb!
I came for Billy Bob Thornton... but stayed for Billy Corgan... and didn't regret a minute of it. Corgan, "We have to have heroes. the culture out there is full of villains, but mythology tells us we have to have heroes". In 1997 Corgan saw aspects of the downfall of Western civilization we've been experiencing the past decade. I never knew how bright he was/is.
I'll add it's not just Karl Childers character that resonates and ages like wine. Sling Blade is small-town, working-class, slow-paced, south, populated with nice people. The psychiatrist, the mechanic shop owner, the single mom, Frank the boy... then you get the characters: the band members, the Frosty-Cream clerk, the Dollar-Store lady... It truly takes you to a different place and time. It's a masterpiece independent film and will always be in my personal top-10.
'principal, history teacher and basketball coach for men and women' and writer, director and protagonist!!! didn't know these things ran in families too.
The reason being the movie hits the spot for me is the majority of the people were southern or at least from Texas. Growing up I knew people who had the speach patterns and the mmmmhmmm and would say things like if I don't give out first and knew a elderly couple who wouldnt let their adult mentally challenged son ride in the front of the pickup they drove even when they had room. And only a person who grew up southern and in the country could be Doyle that's people I knew from the when I'm hurting Linda to the get out my house and I'm under a lot of pressure at work. The whole bit. It's family members and I've played cards with JD Shellnut. Really got pulled over in high school with guys I played football with and told we got enough to put you boys under the jail now get yer asses home.
They didn’t mention half the cast. It was truly a star studded cast. J. T. Walsh, James Hampton, Natalie Canerday… Mickey Jones… on and on. They make it out to be this Indy film that was made with nothing…. But actually it was a star studded coming out party for Billy Bob.
He looks like Carl's Twin brother. He doesn't look like the same guy he was very talented for that role and all he needed was an accent a different voice and his face all stretched out.
Billy Bob Thornton should have won a Oscar for playing in sling blade he got ripped off that was the best movie and best acting but that Cuba Gooding Jr got the Oscar what a bunch of bullshit
I agree. This is how you do an interview. He fixated on him as an artist, not anything negative, and also, he didn't ask too much into his personal life.
Billy Wider is the writer/director who directed "Double Indemnity",the first "film noir " that starred Fred McMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. He also directed another great film starring Kirk Douglas and Jan Sterling,"Ace In The Hole"."Some Like It Hot"is also a great comedy with Marylyn Monroe Tony Curtis and Jack Jack Lemon.
Well I wouldn’t say Pisces ♓️ is the most duality. But I guess if you perceive yourself that way. But more accurately most people have a duality. Regardless of your “sign”.
I love Corgan but to say he’s adventurous as a artist I find obscure. Iv never her a album that doesn’t sound like every album he’s ever made. Slight variance. Wich I like though.
The coralation between picking a jury and casting a movie are virtually the same thing. If you're client is innocent and your script is 1/2 good, the most important thing to "win" the audience or the case is in picking the right people.
i will make an effort to see everything he does in front of or behind the camera. i get the fear of antiques or victorian things they look haunted. they belonged to dead people.
came from so far to say knows nothing about lawyers so has no desire to write and GOLIATH is top show amazon in 2018 plays a lawyer and im sure he wrote it also this guy is one of the best.
Slingblade is 1 of my favorites
This is my favorite movie. So great. Billy Bob was super in this movie. #1 in my book. ❤🤗🙏
I agree with you 100%
One of the most beautiful underrated film.

I totally agree with you
Have you seen the 2 disc set DVD's...movie, and Extra's...interviews, making of... profiles, movie with commentary, etc. So good! Get it!
One of my all time Favorite movies. Very good acting, and unique script.
Most Hollywood movies have no originality, and are full of sh&t .
I came for Billy Bob Thornton... but stayed for Billy Corgan... and didn't regret a minute of it.

Billy Bob is amazing in the tv show “Fargo” as well. Scary and yet funny as well. Just a great actor.
Love this guy in Goliath!!! He is a great actor! One if the best but should get more credit!
R.I.p John Ritter: a Great guy + he was Tex Ritters son
John Ritter was outstanding in Sling Blade!
Love you Billy I totally get you bro growing up in bryant ar and little Rock ar and born in Memphis
happy 65th birthday billy bob thorton !!!!
I'd have definitely given him a piece back in this era. Charming & charismatic and probably hell in the sack.
Yeah I can see how he was a ladies man. He's just himself so I get that.
BBT isn't classically handsome but he is very sexy and charismatic. I see why Angelina Jolie fell for him.
Halle Berry.
Are you single Busy Bee?
@@davidpaulplanchard3104 😆
Wonderful wonderful movie.. one of my top favorites
A lot of people give a crap about BBT, and he seems like a cool guy. Charismatic, smart and down-to-earth.
Slingblade and Fargo, so unique and groundbreaking movie plot genius. 🏆🏆
I wish Billy had directed more. The Coen Brothers are among my favorite. "Blood Simple" is amazing. PTA too is great. I'm stoned
Billy Bob in his Sling Blade era was the best
Interesting that Billy Wilder also considered himself a writer and story teller first, director thereafter, and he was the best director of all time.
I. LOVE. SLING BLADE 👍

Right on Billy, love what you said at the end...
Thanks for not spoiling it for me. I am still at the beginning.
'principal, history teacher and basketball coach for men and women' and writer, director and protagonist!!! didn't know these things ran in families too.
He was a good looking guy. And what an amazing movie.
Sling Blade is brilliant. Dwight's performance was mezmerizing as well.
Best movie ever, dont make them like this anymore

Now the damn roadkill jokes can stop thanks to this suave talking southern genteel gentleman!
One of the best in the industry!
I drove Billy bus in edge of the world tour 2003 and I'll said he's the best
2003 seems like yesterday and a century ago, all at the same time! Cheers
I started this two and a half weeks ago, but my phone burnt up. Looking forward to hearing all of this. N ow hush some, Charlie.
thanks so much for this upload

Whole Hog Half Ham; Gotta Love Arkansas by Damn
Jonesboro here
Russellville Arkansas here. Love seeing some of our folks become big.
Also you better send a ambulance
what streaming services can I see Sling Blade?
He looks good here......not too thin.
BBT should make a sequel or prequel to Sling Blade.
That level of authenticity would be hard to achieve by any actor living in today's time.
good thing he didn't listen to the man that told he he wouldn't make it as an actor.
There was nothing to back to in Arkansas......he said in another interview......that could apply to any of us really......
Nothing to go back to....so tuff it out where you have a chance
I'm for virgin utah back in the 80s 9os small town small. My. Be 100 people back then not now
I even liked him in “Blood In, Blood Out.”
Make the charlie rose show a podcast
I agree. This is how you do an interview. He fixated on him as an artist, not anything negative, and also, he didn't ask too much into his personal life.
Now, a great half hour would have included Dave Matthews Band with Dave Matthews. Thank you Winn Dixie.
Why are people down on women with "balls"? 😃
Yawn
B B T had a couple of lines in Network. See if you can spot him.
Who is billy wilder?
Ww2 German refugee. Made Director, writer, Some Like It Hot, The Apartment, Sunset Boulevard... Watch for them on TCM. You'll be glad you did.
Billy first hit single about glorifying suicide…..
Yet…. “We are trying to promote positivity and compassion.”

Corgan was right, he still is...
Charlie talks too much. I want to hear Thornton tell his stories.
I love Corgan but to say he’s adventurous as a artist I find obscure. Iv never her a album that doesn’t sound like every album he’s ever made. Slight variance. Wich I like though.

I would argue billy bob is just as big as tom cruise. He just doesn't do action. Then again this was 1997 and at the height of Cruise's career
1:46 would get him canceled immediately today.
"Karl?"
Every major character's last line. It's a great touch.
i will make an effort to see everything he does in front of or behind the camera. i get the fear of antiques or victorian things they look haunted. they belonged to dead people.
