I do have two discord servers and i never felt the need for a bot. I want my moderation to consist of humans only. I also would never give a bot the permissions to ban an user, because there could be a potential of false positives or a software error. I also have grown a hate for chat-bots in general. My bank for example has a barely helpful and pretty useless support chat-bot on their website with an annoying popup message. It's pretty awful. Even when you call some of the support hotlines, they are just bots. Their speech recognition is underwhelming and they often hang up the telephone. Especially internet service providers like to keep the customer away from their human support staff and make it as frustrating as possible to get to talk to someone. Bots are just awful. I hate the modern internet with all those mega corporations and governments ruining it too. I'm an online user since 1998 and never has it been so frustrating to navigate the web than nowadays. My desktop browser is packed full with userscripts, content blockers and plugins, just to make things normally and less annoying.
My server with over 5000 members had used Mee6 since 2016 until they announced NFTs, we instantly kicked the bot out and replaced it with a new bot with leveling features.
Back when Mee6 first changed its logo from Meeseeks to that random smiley face, a few of my friends thought it looked pretty hilarious. So naturally we all changed our profile pictures to various color-swaps of the Mee6 smiley face and had a generally good laugh about the whole thing. At one point I jokingly mentioned joining the Mee6 server to show off our new drip but nobody (myself included) really took it seriously enough to actually join the server. A few minutes later, I shit you not, one of the Mee6 devs comes storming into the server demanding that we all change our profile pictures because their smiley face logo was copyrighted art (or some shit like that). Threatened to remove the Mee6 bot from our server and sue us over the whole thing. We all changed our profile pictures back to their originals and the angry dev was booted from the server never to be seen again, but it was easily one of the funniest experiences I've had on Discord to this day.
why bother paying 12$ for an mee6 premium subscription? should either buy discord nitro 1 months for 8-9$ premium subscription shouldn't exceed more than 9$/month
Honestly you really are just paying for the convenience, simplicity, and perhaps the "professional appeal" of having only a single discord bot. For some people it's worth the $12 a month but for a lot of normal people, it's an outright waste of money.

Let's not forget when a mee6 employee got compromised and the bot was used to steal over 500k in crypto. They immediately came out saying they had no idea what happened. Then later, came out and said "we found the issue and it can't happen anymore" and refused to reimburse people who lost there money, and take responsibility for their actions
damn, i didn't know the MEE6 people did all this stuff. I thought hating on MEE6 was just some inside joke, but damn the developers are soo GREEDY dude. It's crazy. It shouldn't have been like this. They are caring more about money than the one thing that boosted them to the state they are at now.

The MEE6 system was in place since mid 2021, and aboslutely EVERYONE started pinging me, the manager, and the owner to give back their xp. We only managed to settle this when we pointed out that everyone's got reset, and that we did a complete overhaul of the xp roles/channels, with new colour roles and etc. Basically saying "AmariBot is better, everyones got reset so everyone is in the same boat and this allowed us to make much needed changes to the roles/channels."

Theres a few pretty big details that you missed. Shortly before they announced the NFTs, the founders hired some random person with zero experience to basically tun the entire bot (jorge) and he then proceeded to ban all of the discord mods (who were volunteers and very good at moderating/providing support etc) and replaced them all with your average power tripping discord mods who got paid an unknown amount, (i was banned from the discord a while ago for criticizing the nfts, but i hear if you ask for support for the bot the no life mod in chat will tell you hes “on break” regardless of the time) most of whom were likely friends with jorge, and those who didnt pop out of thin air had been previously banned for things like irl stalking and harassment and were now mods Another thing is, they promised that the genesis pass would give lifetime premium on 10 servers and it would be resellable, then walked that back saying if you sold it neither the buyer nor the seller would get/keep the premium, and then walked THAT back saying you didnt get any premium from it Oh and they never actually made any of the crypto plugin features despite posting sneak peeks over the course of months that could have been replicated in minutes Theres a ton of other things they lied about and then walked back on but another thing i wanted to mention is its not secure in the slightest, a few months ago one of the managers or something account was phished and the scammers used his mee6 api access to post scams as mee6 on large servers, as well as numerous exploits being used to scam people I strongly recommend switching away from mee6 if you haven’t already, theres also a bot called pepe manager that lets you import levels from mee6 and gives you free role rewards
Hi, let’s start from the beginning. First off, Jeorge is a great guy, but he only runs the support operations, not “the whole bot”. The removing of the volunteers was ment as a way of making the support team more professional, allegedly all the volunteers where offered an application to become a part of the new team. Where problems happened was when they decided to remove one of the members they allegedly informed him in the middle of the night, and things just devolved stemming from him & the other staff members. Also not all previous staff members where banned, the aforementioned user is still in the server To the point about the new mods, they are not that bad, but the mods & sr mods are also not paid (only support was moved to being paid). The genesis pass launch did have problems with communication, it was always planned for secondary purchasers to only get 1 premium but was communicated incorrectly by a founder in an ama. There have been crypto plug-ins being released, 4 of them now. Sure they may not be what was shown in the server yet but it’s at least something and the ones shown will come out eventually. To the point about the compromised support members account, I do very much so agree that it was handled incorrectly. However the method in which the user used to send the messages was removed. I just wanted to provide a bit more clarity on what happened, and I’m in no way saying MEE6 is perfect.
Great video! You hit the head on the nail here. I already paid for mee6 to support the bot but then I noticed that everything became paid features and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Then when NFTs came we just jumped ship and banned Mee6 and switched to another xp bot. Soda sounds good as well, might check them out when it comes out.

Another thing I wanted to add: (I didn't watch the full video yet so I don't know if this was mentioned or not) MEE6's economy feature was completely free day one; And then the VERY NEXT DAY, it was made practically premium seeing as you couldn't add anything to the shop or have access to all the commands of the feature without paying.

I haven't used MEE6 in years, I've always used other moderation bots such as Carl, simply because I hated how little you have available for free with MEE6. Glad to know it's doing... interestingly.

Watching every single channel be made unavailable to every user/member, even the VCs were crowded until there was nothing left. So yeah I don’t use MEE6 anymore. Lol
Eli bot was exactly doing what Mee6 was doing, completely free, however the bot died due to some issues. Eli was literally the best bot I've come across with, I even knew the dev of it, pretty cool girl. Then Mio bot came to replace Eli, but sadly the project has faded away, the new developer was not able to keep up the work due to their own personal life and work, which is completely understandable.
i think mio is still a wip but the creator has been having health issues, i could be wrong though. i miss eli bot, it was a better alternative to mee6 (which i keep calling meep in my head)
I had already stopped using Mee6 because of the paywall, but when I found out about the nft stuff, I just thought "Yeah, I'm definitely not touching this thing again"
on brazil we never use mee6, almost of the time we use "Loritta", an bot that have xp ranks, commands that mee6 is paid and ever more, so much better for small and large servers, and the good thing that have support for english users, you have to make a try :)
In France, we use draftbot instead. He basically do the same thing as MEE6, without the nft, without the pain in the ass every single time you need to config it and with a tons of new (free) command and stuff for mods (it also do the exact same thing as MEE6 but for free) (it has a premium, but you don't actually need). I use it instead of MEE6
This is actually pretty funny. I had Mee6 Announce my RUclips uploads and streams when it was free, now it isn't but it still announces it. So yeah, Mee6 just announces it, but I cannot customize anything about it anymore.
I honestly hate MEE6 more because you're completely unable to opt out of the levelup notifications personally, and it's configurated by default to send them, so almost all servers that have it it's always there being annoying notifying me without a single way to go "hey i don't want this" without disabling it for everyone else
@@Altik. i know, the issue is that it comes on by default and rarely anyone bothers to turn it off, additionally you can't personally opt out of it, so you either enable it for everyone or disable it for everyone, no inbetween
What Discord needs to do is steal another idea from Guilded and integrate a Level bot, plus allow users to self-assign their own roles. Until that happens though, the only bot I plan on using is YADPDB (for self-assign roles only). If discord just made QoL updates then these bots wouldn’t be needed.

Another good bot is Sapphire. It does a lot of different things, but it's fully free to use. The only thing you have to pay for if you want is, is custom branding. Basically your own instance of the bot, and the price for it is fairly reasonable.

2:49 Another thing to note with „Lifetime plans“: Mee6 (in this case) just could release a new version of the bot and say, that the product life cycle of the old bot has been ended. So even if they‘d still exist after say 10 years, they can just make their users pay more money or fall for this.
I'm 21 years old, and I already know NFT's are a massive scam. When I hear mee6 was doing nft's, the first thing I did was switch my phone on, and yeet out mee6, and set up my server with an alternative. To hear that mee6 is still going scares me. I have a strong policy agains NFT's, crypto currency and all things alike. I really hope that the mee6 developer learns their lesson eventually and shuts down the project. because BOI do I want to YELL at them.
Dyno is pretty much the better Mee6, as it has similar features, but most of them aren't behind a paywall. If you want music: Use LunaBot or Chip If you want Automod: Use discords built in one, Dyno, or Wick If you want reaction roles, use Carl Bot The list goes on

I agree with everything, if you need a high-quality discord bot, you can add sapphire, discordics or bot which I consider the most feature-packed bot: Custom Command (Yes, I'm support on that bot, but this bot is really good and almost all features are free! Ntts, can you make a review on it?) (on that bot you create your own commands using pseudo language which is really easy to learn)
Pepe manager is a good replacement for Mee6 ranking system completely for free, you can import the mee6 ranks to this bot and voila, automatic ranking for free
I haven't watched the video yet, and I already agree. I tested Mee6 early when trying to add better moderation to my discord server, but it was just so hard to work with. The price was the biggest issue, since I ran into features I couldn't use anyways. Like, Dyno is free and it does almost all the moderation stuff. Last I checked, it doesn't do xp, but there are other free bots which can do that too. And these options are basically all less annoying than Mee6.
You had me at the NFTS not only they’re lazy, environmentally unfriendly, but they hurt artists too! We are literally afraid that our art is going to be stolen and used as stupid pictures that you can view online free already.
the most simple explanation as to what an nft is, when you buy an nft you dont actually own the image you own a pointer to that image on the blockchain.

I disagree. Embeds are a big part of my discord servers, and Dyno can only provide 3 at maximum. I mostly use carl-bot due to the extremely high cap on the amount of stuff you can do. Other bots such as Arcane or Dyno have a limit to the amount of reaction roles and other things. Then again, I don't really care about moderation because most of the servers I'm in are pretty small and therefore don't need much moderation anyways

I bought the lifetime plan years ago and the developer gave me a discount and reduced it to $40 which was pretty cool of him to do. I just need it for the basic moderation functions. I don't mess wit the NFT section its stupid lol.
I started using MEE6 in 2019 I think. After starting up a new D&D server (mid 2020) we added it pretty quick. I liked the dashboard and saw some cool features behind a paywall, so I just bought the lifetime premium so I could play around with it. Considering it's been over 2 years, premium has cost me the equivalent of ~$3.50/month which is DIRT cheap, and we've used it's features EXTENSIVELY. We have ~20 reaction roles, ~10 embeds that we occasionally edit, we use !play constantly, and I use the custom bot feature to make it look all pretty. I wrote a custom bot to handle some edge cases that MEE6 couldn't deal with, and I even have that bot tell MEE6 to piss off whenever somebody else does. But MEE6 is not only easier to set up functionallity for, it has a user friendly dashboard so all the other admins can tweak things too without me needing to either act as a proxy for all changes, or need to build a web console. The NFT stuff is scummy. It hasn't affected me, because I just saw it as a cash grab and ignored it, but it still pissed me off to see. Especially considering how they market it. I wouldn't recommend MEE6 to most people with a small friend group server. It isn't a free bot; it's a paid bot with a free version. But as somebody who actually uses most of MEE6's features, and as somebody who bought the lifetime plan super early, I think I've gotten my money's worth. I haven't really looked at other bots out there tbh. I know there are some other free & open-source options which I tend to lean towards, but I never had any issue with MEE6. I'm curious to know what competitors there are out there though, so if y'all know any cool bots to check out lemme know.
Fun fact, if you set up the RUclips notifications before they put it behind a paywall, it will still work. I'm still getting notifications from my channel via mee6 on some dead server 💀
Even a Chuck E Cheese token would be worth more than a Mee6 token, well considering Chuck E Chees replaced tokens with cards. I'm also glad I enabled the RUclips upload notification thing when it was a free feature, since they haven't seem to do anything about it still doing the RUclips upload notification for free in my server.
I think people should look into making their own bots more. It wouldn't be the easiest thing, no, but you can run one on a raspberry pi or something and it for the most part would be fairly reliable. No reliance on another developer that may push undesired changes either
I prefer certain programs like Botghost, although that they do indeed have a watermark in the status, a lot of features like social integrations are free, they have a command builder where you can make your commands. Not to mention they do premium giveaways every week which is something most developers wouldn’t do.

Where problems happened was when they decided to remove one of the members they allegedly informed him in the middle of the night, and things just devolved stemming from him & the other staff members. Also not all previous staff members where banned, the aforementioned user is still in the server
To the point about the new mods, they are not that bad, but the mods & sr mods are also not paid (only support was moved to being paid).
The genesis pass launch did have problems with communication, it was always planned for secondary purchasers to only get 1 premium but was communicated incorrectly by a founder in an ama.
There have been crypto plug-ins being released, 4 of them now. Sure they may not be what was shown in the server yet but it’s at least something and the ones shown will come out eventually.
To the point about the compromised support members account, I do very much so agree that it was handled incorrectly. However the method in which the user used to send the messages was removed.
I just wanted to provide a bit more clarity on what happened, and I’m in no way saying MEE6 is perfect.

Great video! You hit the head on the nail here. I already paid for mee6 to support the bot but then I noticed that everything became paid features and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Then when NFTs came we just jumped ship and banned Mee6 and switched to another xp bot. Soda sounds good as well, might check them out when it comes out.

Another thing I wanted to add: (I didn't watch the full video yet so I don't know if this was mentioned or not) MEE6's economy feature was completely free day one; And then the VERY NEXT DAY, it was made practically premium seeing as you couldn't add anything to the shop or have access to all the commands of the feature without paying.

I haven't used MEE6 in years, I've always used other moderation bots such as Carl, simply because I hated how little you have available for free with MEE6. Glad to know it's doing... interestingly.

I stopped using MEE6 when they announce that they were using NFT’s and in their server they banned every single person that mentioned that using NFTs was a bad idea, and I watched the purge with my own two eyes. Watching every single channel be made unavailable to every user/member, even the VCs were crowded until there was nothing left. So yeah I don’t use MEE6 anymore. Lol

Eli bot was exactly doing what Mee6 was doing, completely free, however the bot died due to some issues.
Eli was literally the best bot I've come across with, I even knew the dev of it, pretty cool girl.
Then Mio bot came to replace Eli, but sadly the project has faded away, the new developer was not able to keep up the work due to their own personal life and work, which is completely understandable.
i think mio is still a wip but the creator has been having health issues, i could be wrong though. i miss eli bot, it was a better alternative to mee6 (which i keep calling meep in my head)
God knowing that one of the first bots was made to give info on my currently favorite series I've followed since the first game makes me feel old.
I had already stopped using Mee6 because of the paywall, but when I found out about the nft stuff, I just thought "Yeah, I'm definitely not touching this thing again"
on brazil we never use mee6, almost of the time we use "Loritta", an bot that have xp ranks, commands that mee6 is paid and ever more, so much better for small and large servers, and the good thing that have support for english users, you have to make a try :)
Best thing is, Loritta is a Brazilian bot, and it's great to have bots that aren't just from the US!

In France, we use draftbot instead. He basically do the same thing as MEE6, without the nft, without the pain in the ass every single time you need to config it and with a tons of new (free) command and stuff for mods (it also do the exact same thing as MEE6 but for free) (it has a premium, but you don't actually need). I use it instead of MEE6

I honestly hate MEE6 more because you're completely unable to opt out of the levelup notifications personally, and it's configurated by default to send them, so almost all servers that have it it's always there being annoying notifying me without a single way to go "hey i don't want this" without disabling it for everyone else

What Discord needs to do is steal another idea from Guilded and integrate a Level bot, plus allow users to self-assign their own roles. Until that happens though, the only bot I plan on using is YADPDB (for self-assign roles only). If discord just made QoL updates then these bots wouldn’t be needed.

Another good bot is Sapphire. It does a lot of different things, but it's fully free to use. The only thing you have to pay for if you want is, is custom branding. Basically your own instance of the bot, and the price for it is fairly reasonable.

Mee6 (in this case) just could release a new version of the bot and say, that the product life cycle of the old bot has been ended. So even if they‘d still exist after say 10 years, they can just make their users pay more money or fall for this.
I'm 21 years old, and I already know NFT's are a massive scam. When I hear mee6 was doing nft's, the first thing I did was switch my phone on, and yeet out mee6, and set up my server with an alternative. To hear that mee6 is still going scares me. I have a strong policy agains NFT's, crypto currency and all things alike. I really hope that the mee6 developer learns their lesson eventually and shuts down the project. because BOI do I want to YELL at them.

I agree with everything, if you need a high-quality discord bot, you can add sapphire, discordics or bot which I consider the most feature-packed bot: Custom Command (Yes, I'm support on that bot, but this bot is really good and almost all features are free! Ntts, can you make a review on it?) (on that bot you create your own commands using pseudo language which is really easy to learn)
The only paid feature is sending dm's and no cooldowns
Also you can make your own bot with real programming language btw if you know any programming languages

I tested Mee6 early when trying to add better moderation to my discord server, but it was just so hard to work with. The price was the biggest issue, since I ran into features I couldn't use anyways.
Like, Dyno is free and it does almost all the moderation stuff. Last I checked, it doesn't do xp, but there are other free bots which can do that too. And these options are basically all less annoying than Mee6.

I disagree. Embeds are a big part of my discord servers, and Dyno can only provide 3 at maximum.
I mostly use carl-bot due to the extremely high cap on the amount of stuff you can do. Other bots such as Arcane or Dyno have a limit to the amount of reaction roles and other things.
Then again, I don't really care about moderation because most of the servers I'm in are pretty small and therefore don't need much moderation anyways

I bought the lifetime plan years ago and the developer gave me a discount and reduced it to $40 which was pretty cool of him to do. I just need it for the basic moderation functions. I don't mess wit the NFT section its stupid lol.
I started using MEE6 in 2019 I think. After starting up a new D&D server (mid 2020) we added it pretty quick. I liked the dashboard and saw some cool features behind a paywall, so I just bought the lifetime premium so I could play around with it. Considering it's been over 2 years, premium has cost me the equivalent of ~$3.50/month which is DIRT cheap, and we've used it's features EXTENSIVELY. We have ~20 reaction roles, ~10 embeds that we occasionally edit, we use !play constantly, and I use the custom bot feature to make it look all pretty.
I wrote a custom bot to handle some edge cases that MEE6 couldn't deal with, and I even have that bot tell MEE6 to piss off whenever somebody else does. But MEE6 is not only easier to set up functionallity for, it has a user friendly dashboard so all the other admins can tweak things too without me needing to either act as a proxy for all changes, or need to build a web console.
The NFT stuff is scummy. It hasn't affected me, because I just saw it as a cash grab and ignored it, but it still pissed me off to see. Especially considering how they market it.
I wouldn't recommend MEE6 to most people with a small friend group server. It isn't a free bot; it's a paid bot with a free version. But as somebody who actually uses most of MEE6's features, and as somebody who bought the lifetime plan super early, I think I've gotten my money's worth.
I haven't really looked at other bots out there tbh. I know there are some other free & open-source options which I tend to lean towards, but I never had any issue with MEE6. I'm curious to know what competitors there are out there though, so if y'all know any cool bots to check out lemme know.

Even a Chuck E Cheese token would be worth more than a Mee6 token, well considering Chuck E Chees replaced tokens with cards. I'm also glad I enabled the RUclips upload notification thing when it was a free feature, since they haven't seem to do anything about it still doing the RUclips upload notification for free in my server.
I think people should look into making their own bots more. It wouldn't be the easiest thing, no, but you can run one on a raspberry pi or something and it for the most part would be fairly reliable. No reliance on another developer that may push undesired changes either

I prefer certain programs like Botghost, although that they do indeed have a watermark in the status, a lot of features like social integrations are free, they have a command builder where you can make your commands. Not to mention they do premium giveaways every week which is something most developers wouldn’t do.
