This apparently gentle piece of late-baroque music is in fact a masterpiece of this rediscovered master of "empfindsamkeit". CPE Bach offers us a complex mesh of counterpoint, fugues and variations that are a true and sophisticated delight for both reason and senses. The AKADEMIE FÜR ALTE MUSIK and Raphael Alpermann are outstanding conveyors of this legacy. Thanks, indeed, "scrymgeour34"!
CPE Bach developed a style of his own. If you have listened carefully to some of his works, tou can easily recognize him. Here, we have a typical harpsichord concerto. CPE was important in the development od the protoclassical style.
Mozart said, "Bach is the father, we are the children". At the same time, CPE's style is unique and unmistakable, and hovers between the Baroque and the Classical .
Misa Susaki Referring to what exactly ? There is barely a single note of the music of Mozart that displays any filial resemblance to CPE Bach whatsoever.
As a happy owner of 6 feet of CPE CD's, this one somehow escaped me. Thanks for uploading! Decades after I was struck by the allegro di molto (last part) of CPE's concerto Wq 22, I'm still in love with CPE's energy.
6 feet of CDs ... all with music of C.P.E. Bach? ... do I understand right? My first C.P.E. love was the E minor concerto, wq. 177 and 178 played by Engl. Chamber+ Raymond Leppard.
@@dibaldgyfm9933 Yes, he had! I especially love his instrumental music, less so his vocal works, with some notable exceptions. What are your favourites?
There is a great Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach concert in Las Vegas on September 3, 2014, with one of the most talented pianists to ever play his works. German pianist Ana-Marija Markovina in Las Vegas www.germanicvm.com/wednesday.html
I resent being force to watch a tacky ad between movts with no opportunity to skip it. NO, Icannot order Adblock. It's not my computer. Fuck commercial advertising.
Just be thankful the ad didn't come in the middle of a movement. (It has been known). I don't believe for a moment that you can't install a decent ad blocker but another way to stop ads is to use Opera as your browser. It comes with a very good built in ad blocker and a VPN.

Muy jovial y expresivo. Que énfasis puso el viejo Bach en la educación de sus hijos!

I don't think KulturKampf was talking specifically about this concerto. And CPEB did write some splendid fugues (e.g. for organ in C minor).
Beautiful and energetic playing! This comes from my favorite C P E Bach CD.

Adagio most sublime

@@TheGloryofMusic And in case it wasn't clear to anyone else reading, Mozart was referring to CPE Bach specifically.

@@elaineblackhurst1509 The very language Mozart used was forged partly by CPE, so perhaps he was referring to that.
@Kelly Fischer Are you serious (about the last one)?

@@dibaldgyfm9933 Approximately, yes. Leppard was one of the early CPE performers on LP. I only know his recordings of CPE symphonies.

The 3rd movement is full of crazy harpsichord shredding, very fun
CPE Bach arrived on the 18th century music scene like an avalanche!
Der 2te Satz nimmt einen mit auf eine geheimnisvolle Reise!

CPE Bach in Las Vegas! Oddly magnificent.
