    This harness not only looks identical to the PSI harness I reviewed earlier this year, but also has a lot of the same issues and the same paperwork and color coding. I’m sure thats not a coincidence. I believe they have been outsourcing for sometime and the China manufacturer they were outsourcing to is now selling their harnesses for 1/3 the price. Happens all the time and it’s a chance you take when outsourcing to countries where you can’t protect your products. Just my personal theory after using one of their harnesses and seeing several of these reviewed online now.

    • @bpautomotivellc
      @bpautomotivellc  5 лет назад +4

      We cannot speak for them directly, BUT we do firmly believe that they are NOT outsourcing to China. It would probably be a safe assumption that a harness was purchased by someone in China and then reverse-engineered. (Theft of Intellectual Property). Again, we do not EVER speak for or bash competitors.
      We say this because there were multiple attempts by manufacturing companies in China to purchase our harnesses. We were lucky enough to catch them and cancel the orders.
      In your video, you also were upset about splices. Unless a gigantic fuse block assembly is being provided with a harness, it is impossible to build a V8 Fuel injection harness without splices. However, there are methods that are accepted methods and methods that are outdated and/or wrong. At the current time, GM and USCAR standards specify Ultrasonic welding is the preferred method for copper to copper wire splicing.
      BP Automotive utilizes an in house ultrasonic welder for all copper to copper wire splicing.
      Thank you for watching!

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage 5 лет назад +5

      That would make sense as well. And no, it wouldn’t be very professional of you to bash a competitor. But as for me, I wasn’t happy at all with the quality/price of that harness. I feel like the China harness price would be more inline with what I received from them.

      @@BadLuckGarage Just gonna say its more likely that it was outsourced by the company through a Chinese manufacture. Mostly all aftermarket parts manufacturers out source their items. Of course we cant speak for them cause most people have no idea what they're doing but from my own personally experience working for a major OE aftermarket company for many years(and doing dealings with other manufactures), almost every automotive part is re boxed from a shenzhen or changzhou supplier.

    This video is nitpicking at it finest. But I did learn a few things to do when I get my Chinese harness.
    Open bank 1 and 2 and solder the fuel injector wires and shrink wrap them.
    Remove the starter and battery wires and replace them with a larger guage wire and add fusible links.
    Add some silicone to the back of the ECM connectors and the grommet that goes through the firewall.
    Let's not act like people redoing these harnesses themselves for their projects aren't doing way worse the ln what's in this video.

    Funny all the China hate comments. Probably send from their iPhone made in China.😂
    Personally i know for a fact as a consumer that in fact there are lousy copys of certain products. But, a lot of stuff is made in China, shipped to the usa, and those who don't read the package think they buy a usa made product.
    What about the shirts, pants, shoes, whatever made in Pakistan, Bangladesh, poland etc?..
    I just bought a wiring harness for a 67 truck. On Aliexpress . Payed a third of the normal 600 dollar painless wiring pricetag. Compared it and it was identical. So who knows this wiring harness is made in China and shipped overseas?
    Bought some "american" suspension parts at Rockauto. Items where shipped separate from different "wharehouses" wich where: China, Mexico and Tsjech.
    So what did i believe to buy? An american product? You tell me!
    Billet aluminium valve covers from Holley. Big pricetag!!
    Ready to order but did some fitment research through Google. Stumbled upon the same pics..... Huh, Aliexpress.
    Compared the two. Excactly the same pics! And the Ali items where half the price and shipped from Tsjech(again)
    Same with an aluminium radiator from Summit...
    For me as an european these items, also shipped from China or europe are waaay cheaper.
    So, again, tell me whats fake, whats not, whats "european/us made" and what is copied or outsourced?.....

      Some times it takes years for the Government to catch up on all of the parts coming in from overseas. It too YEARS for the government to start cracking down on all the fack Aeromotive fuel system parts coming from China.
      As far as any parts that GM or any other major auto manufacturer gets from out of country, they are inspected by GM or that manufacturer by a qualified engineer. They don't just buy parts from out of country and use or sell them.
      Moreover, I would highly doubt that ALL of your parts come from China. Most of GM and AC Delco manufacturing is done in Mexico, Canada, and the US.

    I have installed quite a few of your harnesses on customers vehicle's and have had nothing but good luck out of them. Out of the probably 15 of your harnesses I have installed I have had one issue and it was a ground wire that had pulled out which could've very well been caused by me while pulling it through the firewall. I have used two gen IV harnesses from PSI that were bought by the client both of which I have had issues out of where I had to stay on the phone for about 2 hours with their tech line trying to get the bugs worked out. Not to mention their tech line guys weren't the most personable people. Just today a friend of mine got this exact harness directly from HPI's website and honestly me being a wiring guy I didn't even feel comfortable touching it or installing it. I wouldve been more confident installing one that someone made in their garage than using this thing. Their website even went to the extent of saying that it's made it the US and is OEM color coded and it very obviously is not.

    I’m not arguing for or against these knockoff Chinese copies (harnesses, heads, springs etc...) but the people buying them generally can’t afford the “real” US made stuff. And unfortunately as time progresses the Chinese copies start out crappy but if enough people buy them the quality improves while the price remains low. Sometime after like 2004 the Chinese turbos started popping up on eBay (that’s when I remember first seeing these) and initially they were shit and would blow very quickly, but after a few years as Tony Angelo said “the 8 year olds in China have stepped up their game and these things actually work”, so American companies that make these aftermarket parts need to make things with more attractive prices to compete with the copies. I’m not saying not to have the bucks up expensive parts but you guys need budget lines. A basic harness for $150-$200 should be plenty doable (I’ve made custom harnesses so I know what goes into them) otherwise in a few years there won’t be a reason not to buy the copies aside from them being made in a communist country that uses slave labor but when did that ever stop people from buying something

      So you know what all the production tooling cost we purchased to be able to build these to standard? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BUILD A HARNESS FOR $200 when all of the machines and tooling we use cost what they do. There is a massive difference between building one or two harnesses and building thousands. Let alone what our liability insurance costs. IF you want to justify buying a Chinese harness then that's fine, but don't assume you know what we could build a harness for.

    a the camera ur using is from china so this means what

    • @bpautomotivellc
      @bpautomotivellc  Год назад

      Actually, the camera I am using is made in Japan. Where a camera is made is far different than where an engine harness is made. Thank you so much for your comment that has absolutely no substance or relation to the video. You should go find videos on subjects that you know something about to comment on.

    It’s still insane that people want $650 for one hour harness build it from the old harness

      If you know how to build a harness properly in 1 hour with one person please, by all means, tell us about it, I mean all of the major harness factories will probably want to know your method as well since that would be about 4 times faster than most for a proper LS Harness build.
      As always we greatly value your professional harness-building advice! We want to learn from all of your harness-building experience!

    some of you all,need to realise,that the harnesses are coming out of One factory...& some of you need to reconcile that Cheap is Not Good....And Good is Not Cheap.

    I believe you do make a quality product however I think there are several different manufacturers making these but they're not all the same quality. I got one that was 240 something dollars and all the stuff that you listed up there either they watched your video and they fixed it or I just have a lot better quality made Chinese. All my connectors are heat shrunk the wire gauge seems to be a little better and they're splicing is also heat shrunk. My instruction manual is also better and mine came with the bolt. Lol. Thanks for the review 👍

    Listen to this man. I have worked with GM harnesses for years. GM has many hours of R&D invested in the latest terminals and seals. I can verify that aftermarket and China terminals and connectors will not compete with GM components. BP Automotive has the best equipment for harness manufacture. If you want years of trouble-free service, pay the money and get top quality.

    Imagine a harness company talking down on a different one. If yalls wasn't twice or three times the cost, wouldn't be an issue.

    • @bpautomotivellc
      @bpautomotivellc  2 года назад

      Not talking down on a company. These harnesses are from China.
      There is a plethora of reasons our harnesses cost more. Our harnesses don’t cost more because we’re ripping you off.
      Theirs cost less, and they are ripping you off.
