Your wife was priceless at the end of the video. Once I had to order a rod from the UK for a friend and have it delivered to my house, just so his wife wouldn't find out. I watched the section where the fellow was discussing different lines. I had a spool of Infinity and hated it. A dry fly fisherman I bumped into explained the benefit behind Infinity. He felt that when mending with Infinity it was possible to mend the back 2/3s of the line without disturbing the the fly. Since I don't fish dries, the theory seemed sound. As for Trident and MPX, in one of their most recent rod reviews the comment section blew up over MPX. Ben Freeman explained that while MPX wasn't optimal for every rod, it gave him a point of comparison to determine if the rod felt overlined with MPX. When Ben reviewed the lighter G Series rods he recommended Rio Gold. I'd give a call to their support guys. I'm certain they could give you a good assessment of which line would pair well with your new rod.
As for SA Tital Taper, it's a seriously heavy line and should only be used on very fast action rods. I have a spool that I will fish on a very fast 6wt or a medium fast 8wt. For saltwater, I would bypass the SA lines and head more toward RIO as I'm a big fan of SlickCast. Also, their welded front loop is more durable than SA's.

Interesting your thoughts on flyline head shapes and flyline manufacturers, we love our SA stuff in the shop and it does have the BEST after sales service.
MPX and Infinity tapers work nicely for most trout applications. Maybe you’re a bit “behind the times” but the days of indicator fishing have been replaced with foamy hoppers. If a trout’s dumb enough to hit a indicator it’ll hit a foam hopper… most “traditional” taper flylines struggle with carrying foam and a dropper. The Infinity and MPX tapers make hopper dropper fishing a breeze.
Titan tapers are awesome for throwing XOS profiles at nasty critters. Also great for slowing down the recent spate of “Fast Action Rods” presented to the market…
So true to weight? Overline/Underline. I honestly don’t think it matters. It’s all about getting your offering in front of fish as efficiently as possible.

@@fliesbylonk Presently, I'm in the Eastern US. We have an abundance of small to mid-sized streams, so the Titan taper is something I would use for saltwater. For trout, I will fish a size 8 - 12 wooly bugger, drift a nymph, or a soft hackle. I'm not sure where you got the thought I was indicator fishing as I never mentioned anything about it. I have extensive experience casting rod and line combinations (at this point it's well over 100). It's been my experience that the right line (e.g. head shape and length) makes the combination magic. How the rod loads impact casting performance for distance and accuracy but it's ok if you don't think it does. In the video, Robert was touring the fly shop, and prices there are very high compared to the US. Every rod he showed was 50% less in the US, and when on sale, they can be purchased for 50% less than normal US retail. For example, Hardy Ultralite went from $900 to $400, TFO Axiom from $400 to $150, and Orvis H3 8F from $1,000 to $450. Similar discounting occurs with boots, reels, and lines in the off-season. With aggressive discounting and liberal return policies, it makes it easy to obtain gear and do a lot of equipment matching.

Good luck with that 6wt, it looks mint…hopefully you’ll be casting it in the shaky isles this coming season? You’ll definitely get some better accuracy…and if your setting up behind fish with line on the water it will be brilliant.

As a side issue we have all had the experience of displeasure/contempt from our partners when bringing home a new piece of essential fishing tackle, you captured the moment beautifully, from this day forth, we are referring to those moments as ‘SMURF Moments”. Robert, I almost had heart failure when I saw the prices. Being in the US, by comparison, stuff is practically free. A couple of years ago, I tested the Scott G Series 8' 8" 5wt. It's a nice rod, I'm sure you'll be happy with the 6wt. I was able to handle the new Session and Centric. Right off the bat, I liked the grip on the Session. The guys at YA weren't in love with it, but I would still want to cast it if I were in the market for a mid-priced rod. Someone mentioned that it's the Radian with a new name. I'll bet the taper is similar, but there's newer graphite and resin.

@@larryh9525 Your comments are always so well reasoned Larry - are you involved in the flyfishing industry? You clearly know your stuff. I have also heard that the old Scott Radian - which many New Zealand fly fishers rate as one of the best rods ever made for their conditions - has been recycled as the Scott Session - I have yet to fish one - a friend of mine, Ryan Baxter, recently purchased a Scott Session in a 6wt and I know that he is super happy with his purchase - I have fished a Scott Centric 10’ 6wt, which was lovely - Scott are making great rods at the moment, that is for sure…
