A very informative video you've made. Really enjoyed it. While I'm glad that regional industries, especially Malayalam cinema, are getting the national importance and relevance that eluded them in the pre-Baahubali phase, I feel that we all sell Hindi Cinema extremely short. To be honest, I feel Bollywood has been the favourite punching bag for both masses and classes since very long, reaching an all time worse post SSR's demise. While people rightfully call out the Hindi Film Industry for producing mediocre content, they conveniently forget that all other film industries in the world also produce bad content on a consistent basis. It is just that their bad films get camouflaged due to being confined to the regional audience. While even the best Hindi films of any decade since Indian Cinema's inception is talked about only among hardcore cinephiles and they are classified as 'underrated' in comparison to films with bigger budgets/stars. Another problem I've seen is that 99% film critics and online reviewers while making comparisons on Bollywood vis-a-vis regional industries tend to do so by comparing the worst of the former to the best of the latter. Is it fair to compare films like 'Pathaan', 'Jawan', 'Dabangg', 'Happy New Year', 'Rowdy Rathore', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and their ilk with movies like 'Kumbalangi Nights', '96', 'Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam', 'Jallikattu', and their ilk? You have rightly called out the audiences' preference for star-driven movies due to wanting escapism from harsh realities in their personal and professional life as a major reason for mediocrity thriving for a consistent period of time, but at the same time, pls also highlight, in future videos, the outstanding work of other great actors not only from regional but Hindi Cinema as well. Some of the best Indian films of the 21st century have been from Hindi like 'Sardar Udham', 'The Lunchbox', 'Haider', 'Tumbbad', 'Aankhon Dekhi', 'Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota', 'Ship of Theseus', 'Three of Us', 'GoW', 'Raman Raghav 2.0', 'LSD', 'Udaan', 'Ugly, 'Judgemental Hai Kya', 'Titli', and many more. In terms of content, Malayalam Cinema has definitely flexed its muscles in the past decade with great new wave movies like 'Kumbalangi Nights', 'Great Indian Kitchen', 'Joji', 'Drishyam', Lijo Jose Pellissery movies, 'Rorschach' etc. to name a few, it needs to be mentioned that they too had seen a decline in quality content for nearly two decades from mid-90s to 2000s where artistic stuff took a complete backseat as all its stars shifted to commercial-driven, formulaic fare where the larger-than-life hero beat up 100 people all by himself, romanced the girl, and saved the day. While you can find many channels declaring Bollywood cinema as finished, passe, think of the past, and hailed South Cinema as the 'new Bollywood', I would request you to go different and highlight the 'avant-garde' cinema of Hindi Movies that are no way inferior to what Malayalam Cinema has produced since 2010s. I specifically mention Malayalam because it has definitely been consistent in the past decade in terms of outstanding content, story-driven movies, while Bollywood has been consistent since the inception of Cinema in India. Just because the commercial, masala movies hog all the limelight due to the dichotomy of North audiences and media coverage, as you rightly mentioned, the 'Malayalam-level' content from Bollywood gets totally neglected, except for the odd mention of 'Top 10 "underrated" movies in Bollywood', while regional cinema gets all the accolades for the phenomenal content they churn out (rightfully so), their more mediocre and dogshit stuff gets brushed under the carpet. Pardon this long paragraph, but I'm just expressing my concerns regarding this sometimes unfair belligerence on Hindi Cinema as a whole, when in fact it has been the most consistent film industry of India when it comes to dishing out movies that cover opposite ends of the spectrum: 'cinematic masterpieces' and 'hot-dumpster fire'.
Thank you for your thoughts on the Hindi cinema vs Malayalam cinema topic, very articulately put and fully agreed! In my future videos I will try to cover the Bollywood vs Mollywood debate, definitely more light needs to be thrown on the consistency aspect of films in both the industries.
Dude you are in some sort of lala land. Malayalam cinema is consistent since mid 80s(since Bug Ms) came into picture. They were parts of gems in 80s,90s and in 2000s. At least one film either of them were part of. What you mean Malayalam consitent only in last decade?
As a malayali, I'd say this is the worst phase of malayalam cinema with commercial side of movies completely camouflaged for content which is neither good all the time. 90s was the golden Era of Mollywood. 2000s is good too considering good actors and though repetitive but engaging scripts. Know before you talk please
@@ReelRealReflect Thank you for taking my comments in the right context. I too consider myself a movie lover, especially Indian Cinema, for many reasons. I'm in the tiny minority of Indians that consider any movie from Indian Cinema as my own, unlike the majority of the population for whom the cinema/actors of the region they grew up in is the 'best', 'greatest', 'end all be all', while movies/actors from other Indian regions is 'crap'. I know I will get a lot of vitriol from regional fans that will see me as a 'Malayalam cinema hater', while those who read my comments from top to bottom will take it in the right spirit, as you have done. Pls make more videos on Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, and Odian Cinema, as well. Hellaro (2019) is one of the best Indian films that I've seen in a while, a Gujarati movie that should've been sent to the Oscars instead of 'Gully Boy'. 'Dhuin' and 'Gamak Ghar', two Maithili language films, too are among the best of Indian movies that can give international cinema a run for its money, as is 'Aatmapamphlet' from Marathi, released last year. I urge you to watch all these movies to discover the gems of Indian Cinema that is in no way shape or form inferior to the best of American/European or any cinema of the world. I feel when our own people start appreciating the cinema of our land from other regions, instead of endlessly fighting amongst one another in a futile effort to prove 'their' cinema industry is the best, we'll be rid of this deep-rooted inferiority complex born from centuries of Colonial era hangover that everything from the West is a benchmark/superior, while anything from our own country, outside of their region, is 'bullshit' and something to be frowned upon.
@@TheNorwayMachan007 Thanks for your comment. If you've read my post from top to bottom without skipping anything, you would realize that I was talking on the consistency of good/bad films from all film industries in India. Where have I said that Malayalam Cinema produced great stuff only from the 2010s? Just so you should know, I'm well-aware of the golden era of Malayalam movies began in the early 80s and lasted till mid 90s. My post was simply calling out the unnecessary hate and vitriol to Hindi Cinema from those who hail regional cinema as way superior. It is for those who think that Hindi Cinema can never in a million years match up to Malayalam Cinema in terms of content, while the actual truth is completely different. If you belong to this category, then its natural for you to be stung from my aforementioned post. However, if you're among the select few of our great and diverse country, who love great cinema from our nation, irrespective of its region, then you shouldn't have any problem in accepting that all film industries produce good and bad content. Malayalam Cinema has produced great stuff with its golden era being much later than Hindi i.e. the 80s and 90s with a decline in quality during 2000s. The new renaissance began in 2010s.
Yeah Fahadh is like the acting machine like Cristiano. But when mohanlal act it is like a poem or river , very smooth performances like how Messi does the magic
Mohanlal acts a lot with his eyes. They tell stories. His body of works speaks volumes about him. One of the fines actors of our times. Mammootty is a world class actor. Irfaan Khan's ease of acting is just so heartwarming.. Nasiruddin Shah is a gem of an actor. These are some. New age actors include FaFa, Manoj Bajpai.
But at points in many of his film, it is evident he is acting or reacting based on some writing. No doubt he is an exceptional actor. But in some films his method acting seems theatrical acting which shouldnt have brought in front of a camera. No offence its my view. Anyone can contradict!
No actor comes close to Mr. Mohanlal. That man is just takes the art to mext level. He isnt method or some classically trained actor. Just a shy guy with immense talent to pour every emotion known to man on screen. He oozes charisma, charm and just nails role like it was ment only for him. He does this to every movie he does. Never repeats himself, always seems fresh and takes on new avatars everytime. He is the ultimate Goat because he is highly intelligent when doing those highly matured roles of broken men in 40s 50s age while he was barely 26 or 27. Eg: Amrutham gamaya. 🙏
Fahadh and Irffan are two gems, but the things that Mohanlal as an actor have done in the span of his career in Indian cinema is unmatched. I think all the comments will continue to reassure you that. Same goes for both Mammootty and Kamal Haasan, setting the bars so high from the 80s, over 50 years of dominating their own domain of acting. Redfining themselves everytime. I believe Fahadh will be one of them, but he has still got to do a lot when compared to the others. Also would like to point out the lack of female actors being part of such discussions, when Urvashi, Shobana, Sridevi have made some astounding works.
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I am yet to see the works of Urvashi and Shobana. Could you please recommend a few movies that have good performances by them?
@@ReelRealReflectwithout mentioning Mammootty who is compared to Daniel Day Lewis, your analysis is fully wrong. Fahad is average aswell compared to Mammootty.
@@Queenbeach-n8h Daniel Day Lewis is a method actor. Mammooty is a phenomenal actor no doubt, but there is no comparison, as DDL lives as his character throughout the duration of filming, which is why I believe he has done so few films. Mammooty is not a method actor and also has his limitations when it comes to his craft, but he became legendary because he knew his weaknesses and only played to his strength and slowly evolved over time making improvements. If you are talking about acting skill and range then Mohanlal is miles ahead of Mammooty. There is no debate. But Mammooty is considered very highly as he held his own and built his own niche and path while he competed with the likes of Mohanlal who was blessed with naturality and ease of doing any kind of role.
Fahad is definitely great great actor his realism in acting is goes from real to very real Aavesham climax tells how he acts some times too real in acting. Mammooty is good but we can sense he is acting in front of camera same goes to kamal Mohanlal is too real in acting Most realistic actor in india
No one can match with Mohanlal versatility and range He is the greatest actor ever born in India He is like Clint Eastwood + Merlon brando + Jim Carrey in a mixture. Not only his eye's he uses the whole body for acting his hand his eye brows , his legs OmG! i have watched his 300+ movies compared to him fafa is not at all good for me, he is Just a best actor in current generation
If people are saying Fahad Fazil is the best actor, what will people say if they saw Mohanlal and Mamooty in their peak🙂. Fahad havent even done 10% of what these people did. But sadly they born in a wrong generation
@@jamesas9047 No that's not what I meant. They were born in a generation where medias where not that much advanced. Hence they got restricted in their own state only. On the other hands more people can now explore Malayalam films due to social media era and ott.
New gen thinks Fahad is the best actor because they never watched Mohanlal's movies. If someone has to conclude on saying who's the best actor, atleast you'd watch all of their movies. Mohanlal's versatility and the ease with which he performs different characters and mainly his characters look very different from each other only because of the variation in his acting, should be a textbook for the younger generation. Kamal hassan and Mammooty are legends too.
@twentyzevenfourz46 hey you panmasala panparag wala. Indian movie isn't the cringe fest remake shits that you people watch. The world cares, and he's the only Indian actor in the top 10 worlds best actor list by Imdb. Lol you joker go cry.
@twentyzevenfourz46 hey you panmasala panparag wala. Acting is not the overacting cringe remakes you 👀 growing up.The world cares and he's the only Indian actor I. Top10 in Imdb top actors in the world. So you cry somewhere else joker kid.
Mohanal is an example of born acting Mammootty and Orithviraj are the best example of you can give better and better after every character. Fafa is the best example you have talent inside, you just need to unlessh it.
Mohanlal is the greatest actor i seen in india. He does something beyond acting( atleast he used to) realy feel the character and live. Its the cameramans job to capture it properly.
Our lengendary actors have already shown what they are capable of, and when we read the title once more "Best actor in India today" FaFaa truely deserve the stance to be in the top list with Ranbir, Manoj, Rajkumar, Vikram, Vijay Sethupathi, etc (just mentioned a few). FaFaa already breaked out of language barriers he will do more in the coming years. When we gets to the list of top senior actors currently alive that will be some thing like this - Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kamal Haasan, & Amitabh Bachchan.
In India, in the last generation of actors, 1. Irrfan 2. Mohanlal 3. Nawazuddin Siddiqui/Mammootty In India, in the newer generation, 1. Fahadh Faasil 2. Hrithik Roshan (could be considered last gen) 3. Rajkumar Rao
@@ReelRealReflect new generation I consider Vikram, Suryas acting more superior when compared to hridhik or rajkumar Rao's acting And old generation Kamal Hassan the legend
To rank all these splendid actors is a hard task. But I can see why one would pick Surya over Rajkumar, the man is talented! However, I think Hrithik is in a different league altogether, I will do a breakdown of his skills in the near future to explain.
I loved this video. India doesn't have a very cine literate audience which is why bad or mediocre acting is celebrated even today. Videos like these should reach all people so that we can create a better audience for our films. Also this video showed my how underappreciated Mohanlal and Mammootty are in Indian cinema. Their body of work and calibre is unparalleled. I'm not saying this because I'm a malayali but as a film lover. Mohanlal at his peak is the greatest acting talent our country has ever produced. I love each and everyone mentioned in the above video but even FAFA post maheshinte prathikaram reminded malayalis of mohanlal in his younger days. You can find videos of directors saying the same. Mohanlal has done films like vanaprastham where he plays an impoverished kathakali artist to an Alzheimer's patient in thanmathra. His range as perfomer is yet to be matched. Check out Karnabharam ( sanskrit drama ) the acting there is totally different when compared to screen acting. He's not a trained actor in the traditional sense. He never attended ftii or nsd. Also a lot of people tend to under value the ability to pull of comedy. Thats where mohanlal excels over the above mentioned actors. It's true that in the past decade he hasn't done anything worth mentioning. But man mohanlal from 1985 to 2010 was pure magic.
Hi! Thank you for these great recommendations, I must say this is the best comment here. I am glad that a conversation about Mohanlal and Mammootty has begun because of FaFa for the “north” Indian audiences. Because of a very passionate community that I am trying to create through my channel, I have come across some gems of movies which I would have otherwise more likely not watched because of unawareness. I hope the viewers who visit this channel see the same value! Thanks 🙏🏽
Appreciate your work brother. Hope you do well. It's quite sad and embarrassing that people up north don't have a clue about Mammootty and Mohanlals work. 400+ films in multiple languages, numerous national state and filmfare awards yet they are so underappreciated. They are a prime reason why FAFA can do what he does now. The day we are able to form an indian audience for our different language cinema is the day Indian cinema will be a force to reckon with. I'm genuinely done with non hindi films being termed as regional cinema. Lets celebrate kumbalangi nights, hellaro village rockstars, sardhar udham, super deluxe etc with the same enthusiasm and spirit. After all we are Indians first It's high time every language film is acknowledged as Indian Cinema. Recommendations (mohanlal) 1. Vanaprastham 2. Sadayam 3. Dasharadham 4. Kireedam (p1) Chenkol (p2) 5. Thazhvaram 6. Vasthuhara 7. Amruthamgamaya 8. Thoovanathumbikal 9. Nadodikattu (comedy) 10. Namukku Parkan Munthiri Thoppukal 11. Thanmathra Recommendations (Mammootty) 1. Thaniyavarthanam 2. Mathilukal 3. Vidheyan 4. Bhoothakannadi 5. B R Ambedkar 6. Ponthan Mada 7. Kazhcha 8. Peranbu 9. Munnariyippu 10. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam Also mentioning an indie film Kummatty, which was praised by the great Martin Scorsese as well. You can find a post about Kummatty on his insta page.
@@k06thom Thank you for these recommendations, these are very useful. However, many of the older movies in this list that are available on Amazon Prime don’t have subtitles, so the non-native speakers won’t be able to watch them. Do you have a suggestion to get around this issue?
That scene in joji is one of my favourite scenes of Fafa and other actor Babu Raj did a fantastic job too , like the way he looked at fafa after realising something is fishy about him was too good
I have seen a bunch of videos about acting, this is hands down the best breakdown of acting anybody has made! You deserve so much more recognition. Keep up the good work!
I haven't seen much of Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kamal Hasan but Fahadh Faasil is the best actor in current generation imo. He is equally good in every genre. Some of my favorite performances of him are Trance, Aavesham, North 24 Katham, Njan Prakashan, Joji, Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Maalik, Bangalore Days.
Njan Prakashan and Bangalore Days are heartwarming movies. I rate Joji the highest amongst the other ones mentioned. He is truly a gem, maybe with more work in the coming years he will attain a legendary status.
@@Critique007 maybe kamal better than fahad i accpet but not better than 90s mohanlal, because kamal and mammutti is acting only face experetion but mohanlal is acting all body part (we miss that lal ettan nowdays )
*Number of National Awards* : Mohanlal : 5 (2 Best Actor, 2 Special Jury mentions,1 Best Producer) Mamooty : 3 Best Actor Suresh Gopi : 1 Best Actor Indrans (Movie:Home), Suraj Venjaramoodu (Movie:Jana Gana Mana,Great Indian Kitchen) and Salim Kumar (Movie:Adaminte Makan Abu) : who were once type casted as comedy actors, but now won National awards for Best Actor,Special Jury Mentions, etc. When it is about acting talents, It is definitely Malayalam Film Industry you cannot miss out.
Apart from above actors, Bharath Gopi (Movie: Lucifer's Writer, Drishyam 2, Left Right Left),Actor Murali,Fahad Fazil, etc have got National Awards and Jury mentions too.
As of me, there is no actor in India who has surprised me continuously other than *Vintage Mohanlal* and his vintage Films. Jagathy Sreekumar is another actor who stays close to that Sometimes when I watch some Vintage Mohanlal movie scenes which I have seen 100 times already, I would be mesmerized by that Legend's subtle unnoticed acting moments even now.
Mohanlal is natural Kamal hassan is method acting. They both can do a dancing role. They have done it. Irfan khan is great no doubt. Vijay sethupathi is also natural. Fahadh, rajkumar rao, vicky kaushal are method acting. Paresh ji, nasirudeen ji, pankaj kapur are great.
Idk why guys ignore naseeruddin shah , soumitra chaterjee .. both them were poster boys of indian parallel cinema .. I would even rate them above mohanlal ... on basis consistency mohanlal had a better peak but he is surely not consistent with his skills
@@sayandas3939 an actors greatness does not lie in his consistency,i mean this is not sports to rank ppl based on their consistency, when jugding based on their pure acting skills, mohanlal beats both sahh and soumitra chaterjee easily...
There has always been a lot of great "Eye" actors in Malayalam since the times of Kottarakkara and Bharat Gopi. It's not something Fahad brought into the foray.
Definitely the best actor in Indian Cinema is MOHANLAL❤... There are so many good actors, but what makes Mohanlal standout is his "EFFORTLESS" acting... There is an ease in his way of acting, not much exaggerated expressions or body language... Keeping it natural, simple and believable...Expressive eyes, voice modulation, realistic acting, dialogue delivery everything is top notch when it comes to Mohanlal.... The films that Mohanlal did in his 20s , 30s, 40s were purely classic and the best...His acting is Unbeatable....Vintage Lalettan is an emotion... If you can't believe me do watch some of his old movies 1.Kireedam 2.Thanmatra(about Amnesia.. Sad ending.. Highly emotional film) 3.Kamaladalam 4.Aham 5.Dasharatham 6.Bharatham 7.Vanaprastham 8.Spadikam 9.Ravanaprabhu 10.Aaraam Tampuran 11.Pranayam 12.Drishyam 1&2 13.Guru 14.Villian(just Mohanlal's acting only) 15.PAVITHRAM(Really heart touching movie.. Should be top in list) ....And the list goes on🤗 And Definitely Mammootty, Thilakan, Nedumudi Venu, Kamal Hasan, Prithviraj, Siddhique, Fahadh fassil, Irfan khan, Om puri, Vikram, Dhanush... &many more comes in the list of Good actors
There is one textbook in India for the world cinema which is not fully discovered till now because of the Language barrier...Name is 'The Complete Actor'. L........ When we see him act We wish to study that language just for him. To fully understand the art..❤
For Mammootty, there is no distinction between the older generation of actors and the newer generation of actors. He is always the best actor in the world. Have you watched any Mammootty movies? I think you haven't seen many of his films. He has acted in over 400+ movies. I'm not asking you to watch them all, but if you watch Mammootty's movies from 2022 to 2024, you will understand who the best actor in world cinema is today.
Most great actors have standout performances in specific movies, often from a peak period in their careers. When asked to suggest the best performances of their favorite actors, people typically recommend older films. However, in the case of Mammootty, you can simply show his latest movie, "Bramayugam." That's the difference between Mammootty and other actors, because he consistently delivers performance-oriented movies every year.
Diljit dosanjh was a horrible actor during the beginning of his career... But his acting today is whole another level... I'm in awe of how he went through that transformation. How is it even possible?
The greatest Indian actor MohanLAL Died in 2018 with Odiyan...After all the amazing acting he has done it is really sad he is missing the best time of Malayalam Cinema. I always thought one day he would play a character like Godfather - Marlon Brando. What a great miss... Is there a reverse injection for Botox???
From the perspective of a Keralite. Fafa haven't touched 10% of what mohanlal did. Mamooty is not praised that much because of Mohanlal. It's like comparing Messi and Ronaldo. Mohanlal is the messi with the natural ability as an actor where as Mamooty have trained and chiseled his skills over years. One thing that Mamooty is better at is being the personality. You can't see Mamooty in characters like "Sethu" in valsalyam even fun films like "Pranchiettan" or "Mike" in loud speaker is the fact that he turned into a different personality in each films. You can see shades of Mohanlal in every characters he played. The best film of his might be "Sadayam" I think it was better than Vanaprastam. I don't think anybody can replicate the emotions that he portrayed in film. The movie is etched in my memory due to the performance which I saw when I was a child, if it is still a core memory after two decades you get the idea.
Thrimurthies of Indian cinema- Mammootty, Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan. Doesnt matter which order you place them, all the three have set standards the others have to live up to. Fafa is reaching there and has time to prove his worth.
There has always been great actors in Malayalam cinema. Sathyan was a legend - at a period when loud dramatic histrionics were the norm, he was subtle, restrained and studied. Then there is the national award winner P.J. Anthony. Ask any major Malayalam star like Mammootty or Mohanlal and they will tell you - Bharath Gopi, Tilakan, Nedumudi Venu and Murali were the best. Those who came from comedic and minor roles also shone later on - Jagathi Sreekumar, Shankaradi, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Mala, Kuthiravattom Pappu, Innocent, Mammukoya, Kalabhavan Mani, Indrans... And why when you say "Actors" you have negated the female kind? Sharadha, Urvashi, kpaca Lalitha, Revathi, Manju Warrior, Monisha, Jayabharathi... THERE ARE TOO MANY SUPERB ACTORS IN MALAYALAM MOVIES The industry stands miles above the rest of the country in excellence. IT IS JUST THAT *YOU* had not realized the fact. It is also testament to why Fahad Fasil will not put on airs and declare himself as the crowned badhushah of acting kingdom.
Other than Big Ms,not so many of these actors you mentioned can get connected with many non malayali audience. So thers no point in mentioning all these actors.

Acting with eyes is indeed the great skill, only some are able to pull it off. You rightly pointed Irfan khan ,as his eyes does most of the magic on audiences. One more actor whom i can recall is Sridevi, her eyes changed as per the characters she played. Her movies like English vinglish, Mom, gumraah, lamhe, and Sadma (a must watch for sridevi and kamal hasan's performance) are great example.
Fafa is good but according to the versatile character mohanlal is far better.even though when. Iruvar screened in us . New York times and further major us magazine try to compare mohanlal and merlin brando
Undoubtedly with 100% confidence mohanlal is the best actor in indian industry..... His one movie is greatr than several famous actors entire career..... Not a fan, movie lover.
Sankaradi, jagathy, oduvil, thilakan, Nedumudi Venu, Bharath Gopi, kpac Lalitha, innocent, mala, Mohanlal, siddique, Sreenivasan, mammotty, and many many more. Fahad faasil comes way below and even he knows it. There WERE no better actors in the country than in Malayalam.
Mammooty, Mohanlal and Kamal hassan are both stars and extra ordinary actirs at same time. They can keep looking the same and yet make you firget their reap identity when they end up acting different characters. They can make a guy fall for them by acting like a woman without shaving their beard. Thats tye kind of actors they are. Watch their 80s movies, where there is not much variation in their hairstypes or apperances still their performance stands out. Mohanlal till date does it effortlessly.
i think what fahad fassil has done was great, bt i don't know why what vicky kaushal acting in sardar udham, masan was it showed vicky can reach peak acting, his acting skills when aftermath of jalianwalabaug the way he acted he took it to the next level when he was looking at crows early morning innocence + disheartened +disbelief as 17yr old kid, i can be wrong too tho bt would like to listen to your take on this

It maybe something strange but Have you ever thought about watching a Pakistani drama? I know that acting in TV screen is different from a Big one. But I would just like to nominate for you an actor and actress who have such expressive eyes, Bilal Abbas and Sajal Ali. Pls, try to watch them. Thnx!

Acting with eyes is a great skill which only very few actors can pull off. I feel like Hrithik Roshan is somebody who's incredible acting skills have been overshadowed by his looks and dancing skills. We saw in Fighter, Super 30 and Koi Mil Gaya how he can act with his eyes. Hrithik did a fantastic job in Agneepath too especially in that scene where Priyanka dies. Some other actors are Irrfan Khan, Ajay Devgn(this man has got the most intense eyes I've ever seen), SRK, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil and others
i will just put one name:check out actor "Soumitro Chattopadhyay " 's "Apu Trilogy " & other movies directed by 'Satyajit Ray'. Satyajit Ray & "Soumitra " is the actor -Director combo once in a million happens
I think I wanna say mohanlal acting never feels he's putting efforts to do acting its feels like iam watching some real person With fahad it's different sometimes feels like watching real person sometimes we feel he's putting efforts so it's not flawless . Clearly we can see this in joji In climax the way he smile to hide his sadness and helpness to do what he wanted to do but he can't do that disappointment, hopelessness ,sadness are clearly visible in his smile Before this scene also great And Another scene where his dad tries to kill joji after that incident he comes to the canal that emotional dissatisfaction, sadness and anger the way he underplays effectlessly so beautiful These two scenes where he is pretty real to the acting Another scene joji dad tries to warn joji he puts his hand on joji chest that very beginning that is also great But other scenes I felt he is putting efforts In aavesham most of the time he is real in acting same goes to trance I would say his most realistic acting belongs to malik not fully but some parts Especially where he talks to diliesh pothe scene with tired angry face and finding difficult to breath And when his son dies before and after scene . But both has so much charisma in their acting even if they do Norma acting it feels special to me. And both these guys do lot with their eyes and both guys do conflicted emotions with their smile .
No disrespect but Fahad Faasil is that new toy non malayalis discovered during covid and decided to latch onto in any cinema related conversations they are part of. I just hope y'all watch enough fafa movies to learn enough malayalam so that you can watch classic malayalam movies of 80s and 90s and then realise why Mohanlal and Mammootty deserve to be in top actors of all time across languages and continents. And why malayalis have been obsessed with them for decades. They never had this luxury of social media in their prime unlike fafa.
Joji happens to be my favourite performance of Fafa's too and something I know is kind of an unpopular opinion. I am glad to have found someone who agrees.
For me, Denzel Washington, James Gandolfini and Philip Seymour Hoffman are the stand outs. I put Irrfan in the same bracket. I can watch them do anything on screen. By the way, top content as always.
Thank you 🙏🏽 and those are some solid choices! While Denzel is a great actor I still feel he isn’t very versatile, The Book of Eli is the only film I thought he was different. James Gandolfini was an excellent actor, nobody could have played Tony Soprano better! And Philip Seymour Hoffman will always be special, RIP, loved him in The Master!
I recently started watching your channel, and I think it is a breath of fresh air. As a malayali, I very much agree with everything you said about fafa. But having watched a couple of your videos, something that seems to be immediately apparent to me, even as a guy, is that there is a problem with gender. It might not be something you have noticed, but almost every example of good artistry in your videos. men as illustrative examples. And pretty much every last instance of bad acting seems to use female examples. Admittedly I don't watch a lot of Bollywood but I'm sure that Vidya Balan, Tabu, or even newer artists like Richa Chaddha or Radhika Apte are better actors than Ranbir Kapoor. And as far as Malayalam is concerned, we have been blessed with some of the greatest or actresses of all time in Urvasi and Manju Warrier. If you ask any rational film literate Malayali to compare Urvasi and FaFaa, there will only ever be one winner, and it wouldn't be Fahad. Just to clarify, I am not calling your videos sexist. In fact considering all of your other opinions, I am pretty sure that you are not sexist. But as a viewer I would love to see the women of Indian Cinema also getting a representation (you must obviously be aware that one of the issues in Indian cinemas, in fact the underrepresentation of women and the real women characters). And in that spirit, I want to recommend to you " Kannezhuthi Pottumthottu / കണ്ണെഴുതി പൊട്ടുംതൊട്ട്", perhaps the single greatest acting performance by a Malayalam actress ever (she was 21 years old when she delivered this). Thanks!!
Thank you for your well put comment! I appreciate your honest opinion on my content and since you mentioned, it might actually be true that I didn’t notice the difference in representation of male actors vs female actors as part of this conversation(video), since the subject in discussion was male. However, I can assure you I am far from being sexist; in fact I am the complete opposite and I am a big fan of all the actresses you mentioned, have always been. In coming days I will cover a video on some of the finest female talents in our country.
@@ReelRealReflect Thanks for the reply - it's nice to see civility on RUclips lol. Like I said, I don't assume you are sexist, much the opposite. But it is very hard to overcome the biases we grow up with. In fact, I know that I am sexist in many ways - it is just a matter of realizing this, and deliberately unlearning things. I definitely know that I am. Looking forward to your piece on female talent! And do give Kannezhuthi Pottumthottu a watch - it's the story of a poor young girl who seduces her way through an aristocratic family to extract revenge. It's legitimately incredible.
You’re welcome! And absolutely, we should all strive for that. It could be possible to be a tiny bit sexist without our knowledge because we have belonged to a patriarchal society for way too long now, but I think it is a great thing that you are self-aware, it takes certain level of intelligence and courage to accept it. And thanks for the recommendation, I will surely watch the movie as what you described is a theme/genre I enjoy quite a bit!
Fafa is good but no way near mohanlal. Whatever mohanlal done before turning 32 is beyond lifetime works of all great actors in Indian film industry...

Mohanlal was in a leaguenof his own but sadly due to lack of awareness not many know. Same with Mammooty.
Watch a mash up called The Indomitable Thespian, about Mammootty. You will get a small idea about the range of Mammootty in 10mins.
Diljit dosanjh was a horrible actor during the beginning of his career... But his acting today is whole another level... I'm in awe of how he went through that transformation. How is it even possible?
True, the man transcended into becoming something else.
You never mentioned the jaw dropping performance of fafa in "thondimudalum driksakshiyum"
Everyone forgets Urvashi
True
Fafa is reaching there and has time to prove his worth.
just came across this channel. Really amazing content. would love to see video on vocal projection and dialogue delivery in general.
Thank you 🙏🏽 I will definitely look into that and see what I can find!
THERE ARE TOO MANY SUPERB ACTORS IN MALAYALAM MOVIES
The industry stands miles above the rest of the country in excellence.
@@TheNorwayMachan007 whose fault is that? 🤪 Hindi audiences and reviewers had so far ascribed a debilitating self-importance to Bollywood and never looked beyond the tip of their noses.

According to your analysis I think you should watch Mammooty movie especially Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar or his recent release
Wow
Spot on observation! Hats off
I've never seen anybody mentioning Fahadh's minor changes in the expressions
Thank you! 🙏🏽 stay tubed for more!
If Ranbir pulls of Ramayan with conviction. He will become the greatest actor of Indian cinema with great range.
Naa
Acting with eyes is indeed the great skill, only some are able to pull it off. You rightly pointed Irfan khan ,as his eyes does most of the magic on audiences. One more actor whom i can recall is Sridevi, her eyes changed as per the characters she played. Her movies like English vinglish, Mom, gumraah, lamhe, and Sadma (a must watch for sridevi and kamal hasan's performance) are great example.
Mohanlal be like hold my beer 😂
@@TESLA-co3vg
Mohanlal is so fcuking expressionless.
Let alone minimalism
Sridevi is a legend!
@@ReelRealReflect I haven't watched sreedevis movies...old Malayalam movie have talented female actresses like urvashi, shobhana, kalpana etc
Indias finest actor ever is none other than Dr Kamal Haasan!
This person get stucked in my mind after i watched Trance.....he is🔥🔥on nxt level on that movie
I think you are yet to watch thondimuthalum driksashiyum... Don't miss it! Loved your analysis ❤
Surely. Thank you! 🙏🏽
Fafa is good but according to the versatile character mohanlal is far better.even though when. Iruvar screened in us . New York times and further major us magazine try to compare mohanlal and merlin brando

there is two kind of actors are here in india. one is mammootty. and others. said by nasirudin shah.
In Bollywood, it's Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpai, KK Menon, Nawaz, Irrfan, Rajkumar Rao, Ayushman and Ranbir.
Mammootty ❣️
I don't know why some people who watched 3+4 malayalam movies and then make videos or post that FF is the greatest.
Mohanlal till date does it effortlessly.
i think what fahad fassil has done was great, bt i don't know why what vicky kaushal acting in sardar udham, masan was it showed vicky can reach peak acting, his acting skills when aftermath of jalianwalabaug the way he acted he took it to the next level when he was looking at crows early morning innocence + disheartened +disbelief as 17yr old kid, i can be wrong too tho bt would like to listen to your take on this
Absolutely right. If he makes the right choices in the future, we are going to witness a legendary actor I’m sure.
Dude, I agree with you! And I want to tell U that I'm new and have discovered you channel and I just like it! It's something special in this world of RUclips. Thnx!
Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Regarding Pakistani drama, I have watched a couple of episodes of Zindagi Gulzar Hai here and there, and nearly all of Loose Talk(with late Moin Akhtar Saab). Thank you for the recommendation, I will try to watch it :) 🙏🏽 🙂
@@ReelRealReflect
Moin akhtar and talaat hussain! Great actors. There are Noaman ijaz and Saba qamar as well. In china Tony Leung who is well known for the mood of love. Great expressive eyes! And Keep it up!
Nana patekar is the best actor of India
Absolutely! There is an entire video on Hrithik that will come out in the next couple of weeks, stay tuned.
No one talk about Urvashi. She’s a great actor. Watch her old Malayalam and Tamil movies..She’s born artist
i will just put one name:check out actor "Soumitro Chattopadhyay " 's
"Apu Trilogy " & other movies directed by 'Satyajit Ray'.
Satyajit Ray & "Soumitra " is the actor -Director combo once in a million happens
I think I wanna say mohanlal acting never feels he's putting efforts to do acting its feels like iam watching some real person
With fahad it's different sometimes feels like watching real person sometimes we feel he's putting efforts so it's not flawless .
Clearly we can see this in joji
In climax the way he smile to hide his sadness and helpness to do what he wanted to do but he can't do that disappointment, hopelessness ,sadness are clearly visible in his smile
Before this scene also great
And Another scene where his dad tries to kill joji after that incident he comes to the canal that emotional dissatisfaction, sadness and anger the way he underplays effectlessly so beautiful
These two scenes where he is pretty real to the acting
Another scene joji dad tries to warn joji he puts his hand on joji chest that very beginning that is also great
But other scenes I felt he is putting efforts
In aavesham most of the time he is real in acting same goes to trance
I would say his most realistic acting belongs to malik not fully but some parts
Especially where he talks to diliesh pothe scene with tired angry face and finding difficult to breath
And when his son dies before and after scene .
💯 The movie has levels.
Top three actors in India are
1) Mohanlal
2) Mammootty
3) Fafa
If you disagree that means you haven’t watched their classics.
Only vikaram
Love how except for a few shots, not even a single actress is discussed in this-not even tabu, konkona, radhika apte and many more...
Mollywood top actors
1.mohanlal and mammootty
2.kalabavan mani
3. fafa &tovino, shine nigam
4. Prithwiraj , jayasurya and kunchako boban
5. Suraj venjarammood & soubin shahir

Ranbir Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao and also Ayushman khurana is best in Bollywood
Fafa acting with his eyes man reminds me of irfan 👏👏
Charm & acting through eyes..
In this 2 categories... SRK tops.
keep up this level of quality and soon you'll get the subs and views you actually deserve.
Prithviraj Sukumaran is Currently the best actor in Indian Cinema.... give him any role, any character, any genre, he has the best versions of it.
❤ Rajkumar Rao ❤
What a video man i really like it.
Bahut acchi information batai aapne. Thanks
You’re welcome! 🙏🏽
Meanwhile fafa:don't get involved in my movies, just watch movies and move on
Bro your voice and modulation is so good excellent narration.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Wow what a podcast
FAFAA I agreee🤩
Fafa is good but no way near mohanlal. Whatever mohanlal done before turning 32 is beyond lifetime works of all great actors in Indian film industry...
Such a knowledgeable video for aspiring actor like me keep it up brother or video bnao
Thank you! Keep supporting for more 🙂🙏🏽
