I no longer think they are fake. I had a roommate who, after I told her how to make popcorn, set it on the stove, turned it on, and then sat at her laptop with her headphones on. I don't know how long passed before I started to smell burning and when she checked the popcorn, it caught on fire.
I'm the same. When I started making pop corn, I was about 14 with a gas stove! Nobody taught me and didn't have any supervision or even youtube, I just figured it out. Pretty simple really but ask my girlfriend and I can bet the house will burn down somehow. Also I think the woman in the red top made popcorn better than the professional chef, she had little to no unpopped kernels whereas the professional chef had tonnes!
I did that as well.. Once I wanted to make popcorn then my mom called and I was 10 or something. so after the call I was distracted and forgot.. Then suddenly all of the air went black and I was like wtf is happening and I went into the kitchen and yeah.. Lets just say the pan was totally ruined after that

That old lady lived in a cave in a forest under a stone her entire life,i swear to God she is clueless in every single video.
I feel bad for any children she had. I don't want to know how awful those dinners were.
She did okay with some of the egg episodes. And two of the fruit/veggie ones but I forget which.
She did ok with the pb&j sandwiches a while back, too. Not perfect, but edible. I think she's wealthy and has had servants her entire life. Maybe someday, we'll get her story.
She's the worst. No skills whatsoever.

To people who think this is fake or exaggerated: about a year ago I was staying in a hostel in Portugal. Around 22:00 (10pm) I went into the shared kitchen for some tea only to find a girl there. We spoke for a bit and she told me she was making popcorn on the stove for the first time (she had a closed pot in front of her and the hostel had no microwave). After a while of talking and me sipping my tea there was a questionable smell. She opened the lid and I saw that she had put a microwaveable pack in the pot. As in still closed, plastic wrap still on, the edges melting and charred.
(Pretty sure she was a little drunk though if that makes it more excusable? lol)
To this day the PTSD is real any time I eat popcorn 🍿

They're actually pretty filling. When I'm lazy i just toss a couple of popcorn bags into the microwave.
I wouldn't have it as a meal, but it's a really filling snack. Pretzels and popcorn will fill you up pretty quickly

You could also salt the oil 😉
panyako it’s better to put the salt on after because the salt will burn in the heat
I make it without oil. Takes a little longer but I try to limit oil consumption

Hello I'm Robert and I'm 23 years old, I've been growing popcorn under my bed for 49 years.

I actually make the best stove pop corn here is my recipe:
-Start by putting oil in the big pan, fill the bottom so if you put a popcorn seed, the seed is fully emmerged of oil
-Turn on the stove on high temp and wait for the oil to be hot
-After like 10 minutes, drop a SINGLE popcorn seed and if it pops under 15 seconds, put the whole seeds in the pan
-Everything should start to pop after 20 seconds, but here, make sure to shake the pan and lift it up a few seconds so the popcorn doesnt burn
-when the pop stops, you’re done
-season with salt
Voila (sorry for my average english)
Ps: no unpoped or burned seed should be in the pan if u did everything right

I am surprised those over 45 don't know how to make stove top popcorn. How did they make it before microwave popcorn was widely available?

@@qb6570 yeah, Jiffy Pop was the easy stove top popcorn. It came in a disposable metal pan, you just remove the cover and put it on the stove for a bit. So instead of using oil and kernals, you just buy a pack of Jiffy Pop.

Air popper. My mom got hers in the late 1970s. I think she still has it. You put the plastic chute on the base, put your butter or oil in the special heater cup in the side, put the popcorn kernels in the dumpable measuring cup on top. Then you line your big bowl up under the chute, switch the popper on, dump the kernels in and wait. They swirl around the cooking part as the popper blows hot air on them until they pop and come out the chute.
In about 5 minutes, you have a bowl of perfect popcorn with hardly any waste. Drizzle your heated oil over the top of the popcorn, sprinkle some salt on top and hand-toss the popcorn to mix. Your popcorn never burns.
Watching this stovetop stuff felt like watching caveman technology ;)

What surprised me was how many managed to burn the popcorn while still having most of the kernels unpopped. I've burnt popcorn before but only a few kernels by leaving it on the heat too long. Never had so many kernels left unpopped.

Making pop corn is the easiest.
Add margarine, oil, and the corn....
Heat it up at the maximum heat and wait only several minutes. If you use lower heat, the corn won't pop easily and will take a longer time and then it will burn the pop corn for sure.

(And Flavacol if you really want to impress)
THANK YOU! It's so easy to make great popcorn with coconut oil and Flavacol. Make sure you add the Flavacol to the oil when you put the kernels in. That way the seasoning gets infused into every kernel. YUM. Add some melted butter if you're feeling sporty.🍿

Pro-tip from someone who's been making popcorn on the stovetop for years - get a pan with a clear lid so that you can actually see what's going on, and then have a bowl right next to you to transfer it into while you're going, that is, unless you're using like a soup pot to make it for some reason.
