The 2015 DMC World Champion winning performance from Vekked (Canada)
Performed live at The Kentish Town Forum on Sunday 4th October 2015. - Видеоклипы
love that battling is still alive ... I just miss those mid to late 90s dmc classic battles, strictly 1200s and a battle mixer with no effects .. the dj is the effect himself 💯💯💯
OK so I've followed DMC for like 20 years. Craze's routines are by far the most technical and clean but this routine is definitely up there. I've finally embraced the use of Traktor, Serato, whatever other software. There is a whole other skill lever to program and trigger sounds using "buttons". I'm a producer as well and to be able to do this shit live is amazing. In the studio I can take my time, redo takes and everything else under the sun, but live? Damn. Props to Vekked.
Amazing company to be in, high praise indeed!
Sure but this isn’t hip hop anymore though.
@@djmadwax Djing is the very essence of hip hop as well as battling.
Vekked is one of the best DJs I've heard
Loved the Megadrive/Genesis part of the routine at 4:06.
dj Vekked is at another level! Wow!
i grew up watching dj's like qbert, mix master mike, cash money, roc raider and have to say this is killa well done from australia Vekked
I like his rhythm I could easily dance to it.
I've been way out of the loop and haven't watched a dmc set since atrak was 15 16. this was a good set but I miss the times where djs would have all their separate 12 inch vinyls instead of serato tracks already queued up.
Enjoyed this set live in London. Well done, congratulations, Vekked!
great set. mang you killed it this year.
SEGAAAAAAAAA!!!! WHAT!??!?!?! That Sega shit just melted my goddamn brain! Too good.
Beast !!! Southwest Detroit, was here!

I came for 2:33 through the end. Amazing! I have your other video on repeat! I can see you've really perfected this routine. Nicely done.

Reactions in the background to the tones at the start be like "OHHH MAN WTF IS THAT?" 20 sec later "YEEEEEAAAAAH BOYYYYYYYYY"
Awesum bro!!
shit sound good to me. i was expecting some off beat corny set, (like a lot stuff i hear thesr days ( but naw, it was good. i only used vinyl, but digital vs vinyl is a stupid argument. you got skills or you dont.

naantjez haha ok maybe not quite like watching Dime, i was probably a little drunk when i wrote this, but uh....its still pretty cool isnt it? Haha
+insaiyan93 I love finding comments that i wrote when i was drunk and wondering what i thinking when i wrote them lol.
same with comments u posted like years ago. Some forums im apart of i've been there for like 15 years..
not a dj....are you kidding ?
dj = disc jockey ... he doing this in clip :| ... or you think a dj is that guy who PUT THE HANDS IN THE AIR and press buttons and twist knobs :| ... what mean a dj for you ?
I need me a copy of that Sega video game part.
Those Mortal Kombat and Sonic Samples are soon fresh
Cd djs I’ll go back to the 90s.

I thought the first part wasn't very good, but I loved the Sega parts. Although between the two Sega parts he was quite off key / tempo.
dude isnt the coldeest - but he snapped - loved the SEGA tones withthr Sonic ring bling! and the Altered beast sample "welcome to your doom" when the weird priest dude turns into a giant head and spits at u!! ill overall -tight set
DJ VEKKED IS GOD ON THE DECKS

A-Trak playing and winning at 15 years old will always be my fav but this is legit

ruclips.net/video/NnRVmiqm84k/видео.html
Beast mood activated
very good
Haven't seen the DMC'S since 1988. Come a long way since Cutmaster swift. Was that Iron Mikes voice at the end? Sounded like it to me.
1998 to 2004 was the best years
talent bruh... coo set...
I knew Jake was gonna win bro!!! Congrats Champ!!!
Congrats on the championship.
Big respect for the skills.
I have to say though, I don't find the DMC championships as interesting to watch these days with all the tracks & samples all lined up on a laptop. I always found it a lot more entertaining when the sets included the quick record changes etc. Just my preference and I know it's not just Vekked. Standard these days. Just seems a little stale to me now it's all laptops and time code vinyl.
I was about to hate on this man, but then I heard the Sega sample. Well played my friend. Dope.
how can you hate?
idk, his manners and facial expressions just annoy the shit out of me.
Same. The start wasn't very tight either...
DOPE
+Vekked what was the thing you did when you were sliding your fingers that changed the key or something? it was like on a pad in between the decks and it was super cool, and im an amature dj but still trying to learn...
a slider XD it's volume control between the 2 records
@Vekked how do you do that tone play on the mixer like that? i saw Mr. Switch do that on the pioneer dim s9. is it a MIDI remap? also congrats on the win and super sick set! Love the sega samples an MK killin it at the sometime bringing me back!
How is Vekked not 10,000x more famous?
because skills never usually = fame
We could talk all day about that question for years on end...
LOL @ these mouth breathers that think DMC speed up their videos!
No, this guy is really that good.
Anyone hating should really step up and perform a 6 minute routine in front of a couple thousand people or just keep quiet.
+Carl Daykin yup and the set is exactly six minutes! how do you speed up six minutes when the end result is six minutes?
nice one
The people who thumb down are new to turntablism. It's okay kids, you will eventually understand it. Nice job Vek! Are you using the filter resonance to create that tone?
The man who dissed the thumbs down button hitterz. Youre whats wrong with the world. Ive played around the world. Timing is everything. You could do a great set live but if one thing is out of time then you aint got nothing to be proud of and should practise more. And if you practise and are still wank. Give up
incrdible
Bravo
SEGAAAAAAAAA!!!
That was decent bruh. good on you.
Love the sega song
Que chulo eres tío!!!
What ever happened to using actual vinyl, the skill in quickly changing records, finding que marks, using actual samples found on records, not something produced yourself and treated to give it a scratchy sound. These days you might as well use an ableton controller and call it scratching.
+BLITZKRIEG i tend to agree
+BLITZKRIEG Ohh my god..You're one of those
+BLITZKRIEG now we focus on the music and composition rather than how to work around the limitations of regular vinyl :)
+BLITZKRIEG I assume you still use reel to reel tapes when you listen to music? Since we keeping it real and everything
+talltrini10 *keeping it reel
DMC has ears again! The last 2 years champion sets, (no disrespect to Izoh or Switch) though technically impressive were hard to listen to. They weren't very musical. After Kentaro won, (One of the best sets ever. Rt up with there with Crayze's 3peats) the music started taking a back seat. Coincidentally it started around the same time "controllers" started to take over, which makes sense. New Tech = New era's. The DJ Mixing Championships looked like it would go the way of MTV. (where'd the music go?) But Vekked's set taking it brings back some hope. It all starts with the music! Vekked represented! I found myself bobbing my head, Haven't done that to a dmc set in awhile...
+Red Rivers Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! I study a lot of traditional music and instrument theory and try to incorporate as much of that as I can. I think if you make sure things have good structure and are in key and such, it gives you room to be more technical without losing people. I see some routines where the techniques are sick but they have weird numbers of bars or the phrasing is too hectic so it's hard to follow... So I try my best to keep the technicality but package it in a way that makes it more accessible.
+Red Rivers I miss crate digging for samples...but nthats all gone now, and i'm too sturburn to move on
Dj Spiktacluar 1999 usa best Routine ever!
+Red Rivers I agree Rivers...that SEGA....fuckin made me dance brother!
+captin weestain I feel you, you took it back too lol. I have the 99 USA finals on VHS still and that was a sick ass set. P Trix seemed more technical to me but both were dope. Saw the 2000 ITF world's in person too with A Trak defending his title.
Jay K.
Agreed must have been hard too judge, they were on it. Ptirix was sick, with up faders techinque.
"Mystyle is the best" is the best though, and to go first, and set the standard.
Just Dope as hell.
Around 4:20, is he using a cappella file on left turntable?
Gonna take this city by storm...n am jus getting warm.
je le kiff trop !!!!
Great Routine !! Love your style ! But the song is not offbeat from the image.. ?
+Ill Fingers it goes off near the end :( check my channel for the end routine cleaner though!
Fuckin Siiiik!
SE~~~~GA~~~~~~
Oh shit! The Situation from the Jersey Shore won DMC?
Woulda been nice to see dood actually touch the tempo controls at least once instead of pre programming everything on ableton at the same bpm and basically just adding a few scratches along the way. Still a dope set but was lacking for the best set in the world yanno?
+Mitch Wallace I used all of the songs at their original tempo though :/
+Mitch Wallace Dude, you are so right... I can't wait to see your World Finals performance! Oh wait...
That was funny Ragoza!!!!!
+Brandon Ragoza try comparing the last few dmc winners with some of the real talent that went before
Big djs have been doing this forever. Back in the day they would have their samples and breaks all cut to vinyl. You don't need to mess with Tempo too much when scratching and cutting. Tempo is for beat matching
Done Right!!
They mix with Sonic samples is dope
Enjoy watching real DJ cut it up.
Ya the set was dope and all that - and the sega part was beast, but what about that ending, down to the second.
nice
