  • How to get flowers in Kalanchoe? Kalanchoe is an absolutely gorgeous plant that starts to bloom in late winter and continue blooming till around March-April. The best thing about Kalanchoe is that the bloom last for many more days. Here in this video, I have provided few very simple but effective steps and if you apply them, you would get maximum flowers in your Kalanchoe plants.
    You can apply the same steps in case your Kalanchoe plants are not growing well or blooming. Like I said, there is still plenty of time and hopefully your plants are also going to continue blooming till April, Good luck :-)
    I hope you would find the video useful and if you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you very much for watching :-)

    Okay so I have one of these plants which I don't understand why everybody smooshes their plants and such small pots. Mine is going crazy. She's about to bloom I took her to the bathroom I've got to get her changed over to a different size pot or at least pull some out cuz there's so many babies coming on her. What would you recommend for transplanting for the babies. Would you recommend just water or sticking them directly into soil? I really haven't had very good luck with the babies when they've been pulled off by accident of course. Like if I went to water they kind of broke off during watering. I thought about doing another set on my tower but I want to make sure before I transplant so I do not kill the plant. Why did you put it in such a small pot?? It should have been another size up... You will have to transplant probably within a month or two because it's not big enough for the plants.

I live in Los Angeles with mild temperatures. When is best time of year to force bloom my plants to yield colorful blooms and flowers ? Thank you

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 года назад

      You are most welcome and thank you for your words 🙏 The season for Kalanchoes is already over n they would bloom again next year. To force them to bloom again, we would need to follow artificial procedures. The Kalanchoes bloom when nighttime is longer than daytime n there is temp difference between daytime n nighttime. Many advanced garden centers have all those systems installed. The same way, they force Poinsettia to bloom much earlier as it has a great demand during festival season. Hope that helps 🙏

    Thanks for the video! My kalanchoes stopped blooming in winter and the leaves get dry and fall. Is this because of lack of sunlight? Day lasts for 9 hours

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 года назад +1

      You are welcome! Since leaves are drying and falling off, look like water issue - either more (in this case, roots already got damaged) or less water. Once they produce buds, they would be keep blooming even if we don't provide direct Sunlight. But again, few hours of direct sunlight (in winter) doesn't harm.

    I have collected several pots of them over 3 years. 3 of them from cutting of the old mother
    plant which I revived from near death state when I started out on Kalanchoe.
    But now they are all not blooming much at all. They get taller and taller without blooming.
    I think I'll just buy new flowering pot as they're cheap and toss them out when they're
    finished flowering. Too much work and not enough rewards is what I found.

    • @bincyrjose

      Kalanchoe needs at least16 hours of darkness in winter to initiate flowers

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 года назад +2

      @Mikio Hirata, Agree with @Bincy Jose, Kalanchoe needs longer nighttime to produce buds. Plus, there should be a difference between daytime temperature and nighttime temperature. This is same for almost all Cactus and Succulents. I also agree with you...as it's cheap, perhaps better to buy new plants. Good luck :-)

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  2 года назад +1

      Sorry to know...the roots might got damaged while repotting or it's water (more or less) or light (more or less) issue. Please try to give the plant same environment like it was at the time of buying. Most of the times, plant's don't like sudden changes and it's more risky when the plants are about to bloom or if it's already blooming. Please allow it to settle down a bit and once you see some movement, you can feed your plants. Wishing you all the best :-)
