Have seen misdiagnosed problems AutoZone has said it was.One was Jeep, customer said they took it to AutoZone to have their charging system tested and said the alternator was bad.We tested it,alternator was good and the battery was bad
Wow, it seems like they have unskilled "mechanics" looking at cars in their parking lot. Especially when a tester usually does a good job on charging systems if used properly. Codes are harder to go by, but it doesn't stop them. smh
Good job man lucky the parts shops here don't do that service of plugging in and any shop I've worked in we don't take a customer diagnosis unless they want to put in the part and take all the risk but we usually avoid it at all costs
I'm having the same code and same issue with the air venting out the oil cap. I changed everything same as you did and I'm still having the code and the air venting out the oil cap.
Great video. I have a 2016 mustang GT that’s running -9% long-term. Short term stays anywhere between zero and -4%. I have a quite a few mods ( LTH, Cat delete, Roush blower) I am thinking either vacuum leak or bad O2 sensor. I am going to use some of your troubleshooting tomorrow. Thank you!!!!!
Thanks Kenneth, just keep in mind that single digit corrections are not too bad, also at -9% it is removing fuel so it's actually rich and not a vacuum leak. May just need some tuning by a good programmer or an injector cleaning additive?
For MAF a quick road test and we can see if the engine is breathing well. The O2 is a few snaps of the throttle to watch if both O2's respond to fuel trim under enrichment and enleanment conditions. An exhaust leak would case the O2 to show lean and have the engine running too rich because of that. Our symptom was too lean.
Hey Jimmy, My 5.0 Mustang Is Running Lean On One Bank And Rich On The Other. It Idles Rough For 15 Seconds Under 800 Rpm, Then It Accelerates To 1,000 Rpm. What Could Be The Problem? P2197 And P2196 P0300
That sounds unusual. If there easy to get to you might want to try swapping O2 sensors. But keep in mind one lean or rich cylinder from an injector problem or similar can affect an entire bank also.
@@JimmyMakingitwork Thank You For Responding. I’ll Swap The O2 Sensors And Probably Clean The Injectors. But I Have 4 Sensors. Swap Sensors 1 And 2 From Each Bank??
@@JimmyMakingitwork Hey Jimmy Figured It Out. It Was Bad Valve Cover Gaskets Causing That Vacuum Leak. When I Took The Plugs Out There Was Oil On The Threads. The Plugs Were Fouled Out Cause The Engine Was Running Rich. And I Had A Faulty O2 Sensor. I Changed The Gasket,The O2 Sendor, All The Plugs And Two Coils Cause Cylinder 2 And 8 Were The Only Two Misfiring. All 8 Cylinders Are Firing Now😎Plus I Had A Clogged Or Melted Catalytic Converter
Gerardo, I like Autel and Launch, of course they have so many models it's a matter of spending what you need to gain the features you need for the level of repairs you do. The 906 is a good all around scan tool.
I would check for exhaust leaks near the oxygen sensors, plus drive with someone watching that fuel pump percentage data and see if it maxes out at anything other than WOT. Also look at front and rear sensors in data to see if they are working right. Might need to smoke test the intake of all else checks out.
24 mpg isn't too bad. If the check engine light isn't one the only things that might improve mileage are new spark plugs, an air filter and an induction service/fuel treatment.
Everything being built today, is designed and maintained, to last just until electric cars start becoming more popular. Then, when everything breaks down, we won't have any choice. Why else would dealerships tell you to drive 10,000 miles between oil changes!
Really nice job jimmy have yourself a great day
Have a great day Christopher! Thanks!

Yeah, we take them but advise there is no warranty. Usually doesn’t matter if things go wrong. I wish we didn’t take them. :/
Jimmy your are the man.
:) Thanks Gerardo, my wife says that all the time! But it's usually after I ask her who the man is, lol.
Thanks you
Welcome!
Fantastic job! Thank you for the explanation and the play-by-play! You definitely got yourself a new subscriber.
Awesome, thank you!
Hello again Jimmy
Thank you for another Great Video. Great job keeping the customer happy. So after all that how did drive? Again thank you
Thanks George! The Mustang drove great, no more inconsistent idle and the biggest issue, the check engine light, was off. :)

But did you take her out just a little bit of Fun;))

I would check cylinder leak down, compression and go from there. If piston rings are bad this can happen with a good PCV system.

So what made you rule out a bad maf sensor, 02 sensor, and exhaust leak at the downpipe/turbo?

Does the 2014 Mustang V6 3.7 have a crank case breather assembly?
The V6’s use a PCV and valve cover breather, since they are naturally aspirated.
Thank you.

Do u mean 89 or 8 to 9 foot pounds for the screws on the crankcase??
89 INCH POUNDS for the small bolts and screws.
@@JimmyMakingitwork wow that seems way to much if I ask me.
My fuel pump monitor says 41% and I have p0171 do you think it’s a fuel pump issue :/? Good video btw

Hey Jimmy, my car has a lean code as well as misfire on cylinder one. Any idea?
Check for vacuum leaks around the intake near that cylinder and try moving the coil and see of the misfire moves.
Jimmy how much is the cost for this job?
From memory it was about $800.
Currently getting 24 mpg and half city and highway. Idk what it is

Might be true. I know the EPA is involved in oil change intervals most likely.
