See alot of complaining about the lights here, im just glad to see a video explaining that I can build it all the way and still use the leds when those come. Thanks man
Thanks for doing this. I'm getting a PG Unicorn with Led unit today and I was really scared I might make a mess. Your video gave me the courage to get my 1st PG Kit.
This is once again a great kit has since brought the Bandai on the market. Too bad that this hobby here in Germany is not exactly very common and therefore the price of the investment is enormous.
@_@ Manual with the size of a magazine ... it's great that Syd assembled the PG first and then install LED later, very useful for anyone that have the kit first and the LED later.
Thanks syd for the whole build of the pg unicorn I am thinking about getting one with the led set because this is one of my favorite gundams out there and I would love to have it on display in my room
damn... my kit 'n LED unit will be coming in late this month or early next month cause of the shipping -__- that is the coolest 'n the most complex LED assembly in any gunpla line kits since the PG Zeta LED assembly... (if u build PG Zeta, u know how frustrating it was to line the cables lol) the main feature of this PG really is the LED units, the shapes, assembly, different light-up sequence... ...i came :3
You can probably pose the Unicorn without the base and still use the LED kit by Bandai. All you have to do is not place the battery kit into the main base. The battery pack will still power the LED kit without the base. So, If you don't mind seeing a thin black cable coming out of the backpack then you should try this out. :) Or somebody could mod the kit a little to allow the use of Lr44 button cell batteries to power the kit. Lr44 cells are tiny enough to hide within the kit itself. They also have the same voltage as AA batteries (1.5V) so you would need 4 of them.
I wish that we didn't need the stand so we can pose it whatever we want and have the LED turned on at the same time. I think this is the best compromise Bandai did with the design, but I'm looking forward if someone could make a mod for it. Hopefully on the next Gunpla TV episode you guys would also show the glow but with the Gundam Unicorn Unchained mode.
I think the flicker only is visible through video. Iflickerijg is how LEDs save power, normally our eyes can not see it but sometimes video captures the flicker.
If you have both the kit and the LED set then it's easiest to put them in while assembling however Bandai has designed this kit to come apart easily for people who pick up the LED later on.
Okay I'll buy a few kits first before I build this and the 1/60 Banshee cause my uncle just gave this, and the 1/60 Banshee for my birthday which really surprised me! Anyway thank you for the response! :D
I was really surprised when I got 2 PGs cause I never built a gundam kit before, and I found out that they were expensive as hell so I didn't wanna sell it out of respect to my uncle
Don't wanna be the only one with a negative comment but I noticed you put the LEDs in the front skirt Backwards and they didn't light up. Otherwise I think it looks great!
Thanks for the video, which helped me build and assemble mine alot more easily. One question, how difficult would it be to transform between modes with all the LED attached? On a side note, i dont see why Bandai couldnt add sound effects that goes with the LED.
Wolfkey13 He may have the LEDs facing the wrong way, but I just realized as I was typing this that with the brightness of them it wouldn't really matter. Actually I just re-watched it and it looked as if 3 or 4 of the LEDs were upside down.
Question: I heard that in one of the episodes the HLJ guys mentioned why the LED unit was tricky to get stock of. Why is that? I already have mine plus PG Unicorn on the way, but I never looked into why it has such low stock.
you should just use tweezers to line up the wires lol, thats easier i think. cause im gonna see may reviews of PG Unicorn cause im going to buy it months later how high is Strike Freedom PG? How high if Unicorn PG?
Hey guys i just got the LED kit and havent built the unicorn yet. Do i need to build the kit first before i can install these or can i put the led while on the build process? Thanks for the replies in advance
Does the led kit take away articulation? I've been thinking of getting one but I've only seen the unicorn posed just straight standing up with the LED kit installed and don't want to install one if it cuts off posability.
Hi Syd, do you or anyone at HLJ knows if the psycho frame parts would glow if an external UV light shines onto them? I didn't order the LED kit because I was thinking of using UV LEDs when I custom build a display case for this kit.
Hey next time you decide to do LED Installation for a pg unicorn can you please make sure that the parts are visible so that we can actually see how to install the LED'S. For instance I can't even tell how you installed the LED'S for the head, it's not in frame.
K got one question and its been the hardest one of the gundam. The Led part was easy but putting the actual parts together is hard. How exactly can u put the head on. I'm having so much issues trying to put the top part on that the unicorn part and stuff sit on top of. O just can't get it to click together. The other parts are easy I did like a trial run seeing if I did the others stuff that it would be easier to get that top piece on but it is not. I need some pointers so when I do the gundam norm banshee when I buy another set of led how to already do it. The head right now for the unicorn is the last piece I need. Akready got feet, legs, waist, torso and arms already together and stuff just can't figure the head out. Any options bc he looks weird headless lol.
hobbylink.tv maybe. Everyone knows Bandai LEDs are infamous for the flicker. A simple google search can tell you as much. Even if they aren't now they can go that way in the near future. it would be cheaper to make your own led set up. Definitely harder and more time consuming though. pros/cons.
Scope-Eye video I must agree with you, especially since from what I have learned of the LEDs for this kit the lights are suppose to get brighter gradually.
Syd, I just received my PG Unicorn from HLJ! But you guys were sold out of LEDS...I want to start building but I'm scared of breaking something when taking it apart. How easy would you say it was? How big of a risk is it? I've built two PGs already so I'm not exactly new to the process but I'm conflicted if I should start now or wait till I can find a set of LEDs.
Mines in the mail, I always paint kits....but I'm afraid of scratching paint the first time I got to destroy mode, especially the shoulders. Gonna let the paint cure about a week before assembly.
For me, the MOST frustrating part wast the DAMN HEAD!!! It took me 3 hours to gey everything in right place!! Second ones shoulders, had to use ALOT force to press the led into place..
I like to suggest to bandai that the wires should be designed within, not on top of, the "bone level" of the kit, with "windows" showing the LED lights so there is no wires running everywhere.
***** Hi Syd. I just got my LED set and connected the wires first before building the kit just so I could test if all the lights are working and nothing's broken. However, it was a pain to get them all separated again since I was pulling them apart at the connectors themselves at thr end of the wires which are pretty tiny. Is there an easier way to pull the different wire sets apart? I looked at the LED manual and there's a section at the lower right that has a diagram about the proper way to hold the wires. Now I can't read Japanese so I don't know if it's saying I should hold them at the wires when pulling it apart, or if it's saying something else. I don't want to risk damaging the wires. Can you do me a favor and let me know what it says? Thanks!
That is a quite complex LED kit, but seems like bandai did a good job designing it. I work mostly with repairing LCD displays, mostly on laptops, replacing panels, backlights, and sometimes other layers. I am not sure which is more complex, the work I do or that LED kit. Question for you Syd, or really anyone else that knows, are the LEDs themselves white or red? Also, it really looks like the ones on the front skirts are backwards.
Wait, so the LEDs only work when its connected to the base? Like just standing up straight? You can't pose him or anything with LEDs on? It won't turn on without the base? If so then it SUCKS, as a lot of hobbyist and builders make their custom LED lights that are none base connected or wall outlet connected. I'll be passing on it then, not worth t if you can't get him in his poses with LEDs without the base.
See alot of complaining about the lights here, im just glad to see a video explaining that I can build it all the way and still use the leds when those come. Thanks man
Thanks for doing this. I'm getting a PG Unicorn with Led unit today and I was really scared I might make a mess. Your video gave me the courage to get my 1st PG Kit.
me too
lol bandai has improved led wiring/led mechanics in perfect grade, they were horribly designed in zeta(2000) and wing zero(2000) perfect grades.
Boy you have helped me alot. The instructions had me so confused and all with legs.
"I take this big, long, huge thing and plug it into here"

💀
So beautiful. I wish I had the PG Unicorn with LED lighting.
I like how everything takes little to no effort to be taken apart.
Guess thats what you get with the beast of possibilities, Amazing kit! Can't wait to get mine! maybe this week!
wow, that is cool, anyone who get this kit but not the LED set is missing out.. i'm not a unicorn fans, but that almost make me what to grab one...
"Exhausted, I'm out of breathe"......lol, this is the most dramatic gunpla video.
I find the "frustration" of building a PG is the best part. It's not really frustration but I just find it fun... Am I crazy? lol
no u're not, the 'frustration' and challenge is the fun part
It’s definitely not fun when you’re trying hard not to damage the wiring. But frustration during the main building process is nice
It's challenging
The next level PG sets - Gundam can move, talk and dance)))
who needs a Christmas tree when you got a LED PG Unicorn!
I just started building the phenix 3 narrative version and I got the led kit so thanks
So when i see this, i would say start by looking at the end of the manual if you want to led the model.
Saves time in taking it all apart again.
who needs a christmas tree when you have pg unicorn unchained?
Man we need some Passion to build this kit. Kinda expensive here so only can watch it here. =D Love this kit.
Well... Seems like I've found my Christmas tree! :D
Thanks syd for the whole build of the pg unicorn I am thinking about getting one with the led set because this is one of my favorite gundams out there and I would love to have it on display in my room
Now this is what I been waiting to see! :) thanks guys!
I'm speechless. This is amazing.
damn...

Gotta love the sound effects "buwauuumumummuuuum"
Im Getting The Kit!!!

I think you might have to add some light blocking and add some black or silver paint to the inside of the armor.
My box just arrived a few hours ago.... I'm very excited to start this kit.... its gonna be awesome!
mindblowingly beautiful
I wish that we didn't need the stand so we can pose it whatever we want and have the LED turned on at the same time. I think this is the best compromise Bandai did with the design, but I'm looking forward if someone could make a mod for it.
Hopefully on the next Gunpla TV episode you guys would also show the glow but with the Gundam Unicorn Unchained mode.
now that's awesome, but why is the front skirts are not glowing ?
Its a back pain but it will give you a relief if you finish it
I think the flicker only is visible through video. Iflickerijg is how LEDs save power, normally our eyes can not see it but sometimes video captures the flicker.
would it be easier to put the leds while assembling the kit, or should I wait till I completely finish and then install the leds
If you have both the kit and the LED set then it's easiest to put them in while assembling however Bandai has designed this kit to come apart easily for people who pick up the LED later on.
like me jajja nice tutorial, i was loking for this. thanks!
I just got this kit as a gift, and this is my first Gundam so Im wondering if a total beginner should build this
Unless your hardcore no this is bad start into the hobby start with a 1/144 scale kits then work your way up.
Okay I'll buy a few kits first before I build this and the 1/60 Banshee cause my uncle just gave this, and the 1/60 Banshee for my birthday which really surprised me! Anyway thank you for the response! :D
+REPTILIAN SOLDIER #1 damn you're lucky! Still saving for a master grade
+Mitchell Lim same :D
I was really surprised when I got 2 PGs cause I never built a gundam kit before, and I found out that they were expensive as hell so I didn't wanna sell it out of respect to my uncle
Don't wanna be the only one with a negative comment but I noticed you put the LEDs in the front skirt Backwards and they didn't light up. Otherwise I think it looks great!
You can buy green frame pieces from samuel decal
Thanks for the video, which helped me build and assemble mine alot more easily.
One question, how difficult would it be to transform between modes with all the LED attached?
On a side note, i dont see why Bandai couldnt add sound effects that goes with the LED.
Should I install the LEDs while I’m assembling the gundam? Or should I assemble the Gundam first and then go back and install the LEDs?
You'll have an easier time of it if you install the LEDs while building the Gundam!
Check the front skirts. They were not on.
I noticed that too. It doesn't look like there is any light comming from them .
Wolfkey13
He may have the LEDs facing the wrong way, but I just realized as I was typing this that with the brightness of them it wouldn't really matter. Actually I just re-watched it and it looked as if 3 or 4 of the LEDs were upside down.
GUNPLA MANIAC at 48:02 he covered up the LED with the mounting part
Do the thrusters light up at all with this or just the frame?
It's just the frame.
Ah thats kind of a shame, was hoping the thrusters lite up too, guess modification is needed.
Thanks to this video il be wiring it up as i build it ;).
Would it be bad if i install the led as i am building and painting?
Does the LED wiring take away from any articulation.
Syd and Ryan
I want to start getting into gunpla and thought HG would be best to start off with. What kit do you recommend for me
can you build and assemble the pg unicorn if there're no leds?
Ofc
how big is the risk of parts breaking while disassembling the kit?
congrats syd
I really wanna put one of these PG Gundam together. What's the best one to start with ?
A try a real complicated one with actual metal parts like , astray or the original RX78-2 since they share frames or maybe the strike Gundam !
Oh, so very nice..... I'll get this one day. :/
I was wondering how posable is this when the LEDs are installed?
Does the PG Unicorn come with the LEDs?
Ok... That tears it... Will wait to build both at the same time instead of installing LEDs later. XD
Would you say the leds are worth it?
I have a problem with the led at the right upper thigh of the gundam. it does't light up. All of the led lights up except for one. any suggestions?
I found out why, the LED IS facing up... I tried fixing it, but I wrecked the wire
What is the color of led that you use?
Question:
I heard that in one of the episodes the HLJ guys mentioned why the LED unit was tricky to get stock of. Why is that? I already have mine plus PG Unicorn on the way, but I never looked into why it has such low stock.
GoPro your future builds!
I just noticed that some of the LEDs in the waist unit were upside down. Still looks amazing tho :D
I can’t seem to fold the headpiece inside ? Any ideas
you should just use tweezers to line up the wires lol, thats easier i think.
cause im gonna see may reviews of PG Unicorn cause im going to buy it months later
how high is Strike Freedom PG? How high if Unicorn PG?
woops i forgot you use some parts with tweezers lol
what is that tool and where can you get it?
is the light included in the PG 1/60 RX-0?
+Chak Him Chow I Dont Think So ....
Hey guys i just got the LED kit and havent built the unicorn yet. Do i need to build the kit first before i can install these or can i put the led while on the build process? Thanks for the replies in advance
It should be easier to handle the LEDs while you're building the kit! Waiting until after the kit is built in full may be more difficult.
@@hobbylinktv thank you so much! i will put the leds while on the build process
Does the led kit take away articulation? I've been thinking of getting one but I've only seen the unicorn posed just straight standing up with the LED kit installed and don't want to install one if it cuts off posability.
Can we just put the led while building the kit at the same time? Saves us the hassle of taking it apart.
Yeah that's the main way. But they safe guard you with steps if you didn't have the led when building it.
Hi Syd, do you or anyone at HLJ knows if the psycho frame parts would glow if an external UV light shines onto them? I didn't order the LED kit because I was thinking of using UV LEDs when I custom build a display case for this kit.

I wish they will make another version of unicorn who can transform by itself.
Great, now do it again after painting
Getting the LED Unit parts in are pretty hard.
where to get the led and battery??
+lee leong chai you can get led from HLJ and the batterys i think are 4 AA Batteries
Thanks
Any idea how long will the led lasts?
Battery time - about 24hrs. LED life.. about 10 years +
hobbylink.tv wow really thanks even if u always turn it on?
K got one question and its been the hardest one of the gundam. The Led part was easy but putting the actual parts together is hard. How exactly can u put the head on. That flicker though. Classic Bandai. Make a huge kit and put all this new technology into it but still don't invest any money in making quality LEDs.
The flicker is caused by the camera gear and not the LEDs in the kit.
hobbylink.tv maybe. Everyone knows Bandai LEDs are infamous for the flicker. A simple google search can tell you as much. Even if they aren't now they can go that way in the near future. it would be cheaper to make your own led set up. Definitely harder and more time consuming though. pros/cons.
Minusthefluff that is because of the contact points in the regular LEDs. You've been proven wrong so just admit that you were wrong.
Scope-Eye video I must agree with you, especially since from what I have learned of the LEDs for this kit the lights are suppose to get brighter gradually.
+TarlZaralka weird, i got mine, and all i got was lights that get bright at a fast rate, then gradually get darker until one point...
Syd, I just received my PG Unicorn from HLJ! But you guys were sold out of LEDS...I want to start building but I'm scared of breaking something when taking it apart. How easy would you say it was? ***** I want to order a pg unicorn but you're out of stock, when do you think they'll become available to order again?
Im doing it now with a painted weather kits and its 4X harder especially since i top coat all the parts like 4X each
Mines in the mail, I always paint kits....but I'm afraid of scratching paint the first time I got to destroy mode, especially the shoulders. Gonna let the paint cure about a week before assembly.

The foil reflects the light farther thus making it not on area lit up.

kinda sad that the armed armor de (the big-ass shield ) doesnt light up
Does anyone know how to get a certain kit's sticker sheet?
That is a quite complex LED kit, but seems like bandai did a good job designing it. the front skirts werent glowing?
I know right almost whole day i try to figure out how the wiring goes inside without damaging it
I'm just going to ask despite the fact I can guess this answer-
Does the Banshee have the exact same installation process? (better safe than sorry)
Yes, it does.
Thanks.
Great job
watching this on 2020.
Im almost 100% sure that Syd put the leds on the front skirt backwards.
heyyyy... Your Gundam's on Fire :-) (Think Kings of Leon and sing it)
right and left skirt will not lit its installed wrong side. you need to make the led panel attach on the red frame
I want this so bad
moral of the story: ASSEMBLE THE KIT WITH THE LED UNIT SO YOU DONT HAVE TO CRINGE WHEN YOU TAKE THE KIT APART AFTER IT'S BUILT
Poor guy lol! Bro I know exactly how you feel, I went through the same with the Banshee Norn.
pretty badass!!!
So cool.

Putting LEDs is a challenge.
im saving up now
