@Neo's danger Yeah, as a former QA engineer I find it super annoying when both companies and gamers put the blame on QA. From my experience, most bugs are easy to be found. A team of 5 QA engineers can find bugs faster than 50 developers can manage to fix them - my own experience (from both sides now). Unless a company QA is three people and a goat with a 20 years old laptop, the QA department tends to do their job just fine. Usually the QA is the department that does the job the best. It's mainly just a way to guarantee a copy for yourself, especially like a limited or collector's edition of said game. I personally don't think pre-ordering in itself is inherently bad, but not being mindful of the game or the company behind it is. If there was false advertising involved, misleading what the game would be (like in the case of this game), then that's on the company primarily. I was considering pre-ordering Cyberpunk, and I am so glad that I didn't. This game was... disappointing, to say the least, and the whole situation around it is awful.
They paid devs $700 A MONTH???? By the way even in my country where cost of living is low compared to the western world a dev with very little experience gets around $1 000 per month so this is pure exploitation. And if you add crunch to that it makes the salary even smaller. And lets not forget the fact that they got $480 million from pre-orders alone, meaning their profit margin was insane. It’s really depressing to hear that they were proud of the PC version. While it’s more stable than consoles, the core game is like 30% of what they promised, and of what the hype they fulled us with led us to believe the game would be like.
What disappoints me the most are those Ubisoft-like Sidemissions and the huge amount they are coming in. For example, the Cyberpsychos: I imagined something like the monsterhunting missions in the witcher 3, where we talk to people, investigate the scene, reveal a story that sometimes has a twist to it and than fight a more or less unique boss. What came out is: Go to Quest-Mark, receive call from regina, fight regular enemy with just more health, read shards, done. There is no Dialogue, no interactions, no descisions to make. Not even the deadly or not deadly descision matters, as it will be not-deadly even if you shoot the psycho with rockets.

It is not completely true that there was no development before 2016. A small team of roughly 50-60 people started already working on Cyberpunk in 2012 and by 2016 they made the fundamentals - story, gameplay, third-person perspective, RPG genre, main features and direction. Then in late 2016, there was a change in the director of the studio Adam Badowski who clashed with the original team and their vision for the game. He demanded overhauls and rewrites to everything - story, gameplay, first-person, etc. A lot of departures ensued so the people who started with concepts and development of Cyberpunk between 2012 - 2016 mostly left the company because of differences with Badowski. However, major senior devs departures continued as of late 2018 when Kyle Rowley, associate design director and Sebastian Stepian, the creative director of Cyberpunk both resigned respectively. Bottom line is - the talent that brought The Witcher 3 might no longer be working for CDPR. Which is crazy from management and branding point of view.

They tried to remake GTA in half the time that Rockstar needs but with half the employees of Rockstar, while Rockstar also has experience with open worlds and also previous games to build up on. If the Free DLCs are simple stuff like "New Car!", "New Quests!", "New Clothes!", they've failed. At this point Free DLC 1 should be "New NPC AI, Wanted System, New Vehicle traffic AI." I kinda agree that Police Appearing out of nowhere can be a good thing, for the drones and turrets. Doesn't help that one executive is making hollow apologies and one is defending bad practices
Free DLC only works off the back of (a) the product actually being good, and (b) pre-baked audience investment in the product. Witcher 3's "Free DLC" system was mostly relegated to unfinished/cut content that was polished up and put back in, minor bits of loot or customization, or (in the case of the final update), NG+, which actually wasn't all that balanced, but got thrown in anyway to sate fan demand. CP2077's problems go far beyond needing minor quests or additions to work. Entire subsystems have to be overhauled, and if Anthem couldn't do it (and pledged an overhaul that increasingly looks like it will never be released), I have no reason to think CDPR is capable of doing it, either. They've always had a reputation for putting out buggy, unfinished products, but Witcher 1/2 were far different animals than a big-budget sci-fi open world game that clearly looks like it was half-baked through production. They needed several more months (if not years) to make the game what they wanted to be.
At the end of the day, even if they were to fix every bug, the overall design of the game is severally flawed. It's not at all what we were told it was going to be and it's unlikely that they can change the design now. It's far too late for that.
Yup. They would probably have to add so much content that it would barely be the same game. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. And they need a million tons of cure.

@@namelessyoutuber1902 It's pretty obvious how unfinished it is comparing just about anything to Witcher 3. They went through this before from Witcher 1 to Witcher 2 and losing half their staff from Witcher 2 to 3, but this time they ran out of luck I guess.
It tends to be the management who ignores the issues, asigns the work items to wrong people or just move them to the post-release iteration. "We'll fix only priority 1 items and then release it" is a gut punch for the QA...

Moral of the story: Don´t preorder, from anyone, ever.
I've pre-ordered quite a few of the games I've played, and they've all been fine.
Tell me again how $60 is too little for AAA title?

The real reason CDPR sent out that “apology video” and presented a “roadmap” is to ENSURE that you never return the game... Sneaky... 🤔
Yup. It's them begging to keep your money. A roadmap doesn't mean squat. Anthem had a roadmap...
@@spritsfal5088 NMS can fix their game by keep adding contents to enhance the players experience since they are an open world game
Cyberpunk on the other hand is a story focused game, no amount of fixes would fix their mediocre story, even if you add back the cut content stuff it's probably not as great as it's intended at the first place. I place extremely little hope in CDPR to pull out any comeback in the near future
That's the reason rockstar hasn't released or announced GTA 6 yet, because they want to give it time and make good game and also they don't announce a game years before its launch
This trend with Game Developers really needs to end.
for the longest time I thought they'd kinda just do the bethesda thing where it can switch between first and third person
The man in the video wasn’t blinking...
Don’t worry he’s just one of the npcs

Apology video, while they was very well aware that old gen console users going to be screwed...
The apology wasn't for us; it's for Projekt's lawyers to point to in in a courtroom to say their client didn't cheat consumers, investors and the Polish government.
Well the fact that they were not allowing youtubers to release their own Playthroughs. But only allowing them to show off a Playthrough that they were sent by CDPR, tells me they knew that the game had major issues. And this was 5 months before release, CDPR management are liars.
I'm all for holding management responsible but weren't there members of the dev team being interviewed and actively telling lies to the community?
Like in nightcity wire? I somewhere heard that CEO is also Project lead or some kind of developer, they are all liars!
Probably get given scripts, and have to stick with it or get some kind of penalty
If you're asked "hey, you guys have said X lately, tell us more about that" you realize - you're already under the bus - so the best you can do is to try to avoid taking more damage...
@@silvertayuun if that's so I don't have any sympathy for those complicit in lying to their community
I played it on pc and still had tons of issues, irritating that he said “despite great reviews on pc”
Thats because they are rigged scores. Alot of contracted journalists give this game a perfect score for promotional purposes.
Ahhh, that makes more sense! Thanks for educating me and letting me know! I appreciate it.
You know, in computer programming we have a saying "however long you think a project will take to make, double it" they may have missed that.
They tried to remake GTA in half the time that Rockstar needs but with half the employees of Rockstar, while Rockstar also has experience with open worlds and also previous games to build up on. Their management must be delusional. Whoever was responsible there for crunch times should be fired immediately. Crunch time might appear like it accelerates things, but on the long term, it causes bugs, lack of inspiration, lack of coordination, and destroys developers. So they waste human lives for nothing. For making the game worse and ultimately needing more time for fixing all the bugs. As it appears, some flaws must have happened quite early in the development cycle, making them unfixable without rebooting the whole project.
@@matfax im confused about 1 thing and that's how alot of people say that rockstar have experience with open world games. Thats obviously true but the witcher 3 is an open world game meaning cd project do have experience with open world games don't they?
@@talorw8930 Except that most of the people working on Witcher 3 quit the company after finishing Blood and Wine. So not only they're trying to make GTA - Far Cry - Borderlands - Deus Ex hybrid in half the time and half the size of manpower compared to R* development cycle, said manpower also have barely half the experience.
@@talorw8930 It depends how you see it. W3 wasn't loading free and it was an RPG. But yes, they could reuse and optimize their engine. But Rockstar never had to switch their genre. It was a long series of GTA games to extend. Cyberpunk was not only supposed to be their first of its genre but also the first to be seen that mixes W3 with Borderlands and Watch Dogs, both of which their respective developing houses also had experience.
As a computer programmer, you should know better than anyone that this game had issues that the coders knew existed, just didn't care about. The coders are just as much of liars and sellouts as the higher ups.
Nature itself gave them the perfect excuse to delay it, and they still didn't.
Thank you for this, it's so clear this was a failure of management... "build skyrim and GTA with half the team, a fraction of the time, and not to mention a pittance for a salary", $400 a month? I mean I know it's a different country than the US, but that's insanely low for a software developer
400 is less than unemployed people get from the state in Germany
Id like to see a documentary on this train wreck. I loved the one on Atari, not the landfill, just the Game Stuff. I hope some devs come forward and tell their story. I'd honestly love to hear it.
Closest thing to a documentary rn is crowbcats video,41 minutes of our roasting genius.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought you were apologizing and got really scared for a seccond
i feel so so bad for all those devs. they were neglected so much.
Top quality content brother. This is why I listen to people like yourself and never to the "professional" reviewers, who are basically FAKE NEWS
I mean, the glitches make the cars fly, right?
They still fail to adress all the lies. How could anyone be proud of the pc version of the game, still just an empty game.
I think if they admit of lying, they can get a lawsuit that they would most definitely lose
@@alejandrodelavegavaughan3703 They are already getting sued for the exact reason
@@lukeluke286 ok, but admiting it would mean they lose the lawsuit no matter what, and don’t get me wrong, I think it’s pretty shady, but I understand why they don’t want to even mention it, I’m pretty sure the “apology” had a list of what he could address and what he couldn’t and the lying was high on that list, if not the first lol
@@alejandrodelavegavaughan3703 They wouldnt have to say we lied, but at least apologize for all the missing feutures.
they deserved to be sued for lying, because if you think lying is the best way to get out of this problem, someone who said that is terribly wrong
No, I can think of a third reason why they released it when they did. The original board game was called "Cyberpunk 2020" so they just HAD to release 2077 in 2020
Your breakdown & takedown of Cyberpunk has been great! I'm subbing.
Look at CDPR CEO's response to Bloomberg's article on Twitter. It gets worse 😂
17 minutes of him saying "they released this game too early."
At this point, I don't think I can be surprised by any new development with the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077. I just hope the game eventually gets patched to a point where all gamers can get to enjoy it on all the available platforms.
i hope the other companies learn from cd projekt`s mistakes its sad that even with the patches the game will always be remember by the way it was launched
