Thank you for these vids Marcus! These are very clutch as I am getting ready to mix monitors for the first time this weekend on a Quantum 225, however I did have one question, could you clarify what youre doing in regards to the pre and post fade? What is the mix for the worship leaders? Is it just themselves while the Frontline is post fader and their faders are all the way down unless they are doing a lead part in the song? Thanks! And I hope to work with you all someday
Hi Ladarius, thanks for commenting! It brings me great pleasure to be able to help people years later :) In regards to the pre and post fade, you're right on the money on what I was doing! Everyone gets themselves pre-fade, whilst getting everyone else post. The only exception is that the frontline vocals get the other frontline pre fader as well. My base mix for a worship leader has just themselves and co-leader, and I find that a few worship leaders liked a REALLY SUBTLE blend of the frontline vocals, but that would be something I dial in during the full band and vocal check or the rest of rehearsals. Happy mixing! Monitors is such a fun part to play.
@@andreinastase1932 hi, we do this with the PA on indeed. Our FOH engineer will be conducting soundchecks alongside Monitors, you will hopefully hear or see me mention that in the video, or when I say “MONS” or “monitors is good” it’s me communicating with the FOH engineer that I am done with that channel and they communicate back. We do soundchecks together as then we both get a more accurate picture of how the band will play, as well as how the mix would be for both Monitors and for FOH
great video. Just wondering how you route inorder to hear everyone's mix on your in ear monitors? I obvsly don't have Digigo console. We use a Yamaha TF5. If the process is the same in terms of routing, would love to know how to get that configured.
Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your comment! I haven't worked extensively with the TF5, and depending if you are using it for both FOH and MONS at the same time, or just using it for MONS, there are several ways to do it. If its purely a MONS console, you can just use the headphone output, and cue the aux outputs as you cycle through the mixes on the right bank of buttons. If you wanted flexibility in moving around, or share the console with FOH, you would want to assign the MONITOR bus on the console, to a physical output on the console or stage box, (two outputs if you run stereo mixes) and run that into a headphone amp or IEM system for the MONS engineer. the cue button will then cue into the IEM pack that you are using. Once again, not much experience on the TF5 so your mileage may vary.
finally there's somebody knows identifying on which one need to be reduce, not just up up up and up 😂
that birthday girl was so wise

you do this with the PA on? or you have two separate soundchecks for FOH and monitors?
