As you rightly say these dioramas are pure escapism from modern life and very atmospheric, I particularly like the way you added grass and vegetation among the tracks adding to the realism, I admire you guys and the patience it must take… thank you for sharing
I love the atmosphere of these types of Diorama, a snapshot of bygone days that sometimes I wish we had back… the tunnel in the first one gives a feeling of depth and imagination not knowing what’s at the end… very good work and detailing 👍🏻
What beautiful layouts! They will inspire and encourage people who don’t have much space to still go ahead and create a layout. The back-scene photos help to give the illusion of a lot more room than there actually is.
Came back to watch this again....nostalgia is the word that comes to mind as I grew up in the Wirral where coal trains and passenger traffic with 2-6-2s were the normin the 50s,,,
That is the best model railroad grass and weeds I've ever seen. All the scenery is superb but you make the grass and weeds on other layouts look like Astroturf and manicured lawns. Bravo!
Just discovered this video and am pleased it brings together a number of your creations I have read of in magazines over the years. Fantastic level of detail and use of colour brings believable realism. Thanks for the show
Thank you sir. Your way of filming let us dream through detailed sceneries. I like the balance of coloris and light and as setting with n visible adjustment. In the box, sceneries, seem a nice concept. A success. Congratulations.
Very nice Chris. Love the touch of the Ivo Peter's car on the first layout. We have a Grandson with that name, and he had his first ride, on the S&D, behind steam, eight years ago, when he was less than 3 weeks old. How, you may ask? Well I'm a volunteer on the Gartell Light Railway, so it wasn't difficult!
lovely collection of railway scenarios, I particularly like Ironside, the back scene with its opaque feeling gives that rail scene a touch of atmosphere which eccentuates the railway into a crisp middle and foreground..
What a lovely collection Chris. Ours is still in the planning stage and having measured the car! measured the Summerhouse! and the time to build! Are ready to start! Keep it simple said, Maggie and Gordan, as I extracted our gatecrashing Daughter who went missing during a visit to Pendon. We later went on a morning of fun with her which was enjoyed by all. Many layouts are too serious so the odd visit to see the Madder Valley run is superb. Just up the line from us in Reading! Best regards. David Lily and Katie (10)
Stunning. I love the sense of depth created using the photographic backscene on sticky backed plastic. Sticky backed plastic and Fairy Liquid bottles, those were the days. Love the tongue in cheek humour. No doubt you listen to Radio 4 at 18.30 for the News Quiz or I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. Mrs Trellis of North Wales will be pleased. The Friary van is nice local touch. Unlike the awful Friary Centre, that replaced the brewery, with it's depressing bus station to the rear. It really is begging to be demolished.
Beautiful attention to detail. I love the wooden platform with weeds growing underneath. It really ads depth to the layout and makes it look different to everybody else's.
Cracking to see you making videos again Chris. I absolutely love your work and reading your articles, they provide some ace inspiration. I'd have to say your my favourite modeller so i'm looking forward to seeing more. All the best
Wow now these layouts have some of the best scenery I've ever seen, a real inspiration. Added to my favourites for future reference. Thanks for sharing. Regards Paul
Beautiful work - especially like Combwich - great amount of detail in such small layouts really adds to the realism, nice to see video of these little gems, thanks for sharring !
Very inspiring Chris. The detail and realism is outstanding. Love it ! (watching your vid while sipping at delightful Belgian Trappist Westmalle Tripple. Blends wonderfully with your 'Brew Street' !) Thanks for sharing.
love the layouts it what started me of doing a small n gauge layout on an ironing board do keep up the amazing layouts and skills and love to see more of you on you tube.
Beautiful work Chris. Looking forward to watching the new layout come together. Your handy work is an inspiration to all railway modellers around the world. Cheers, Gary.
Wow.... just found you....fantastic modelling.....love the crossing cottage so similar to one that used to exist near where I live.....once again fabulous modelling....fred......nice voice and narrative!
It wouldn't be the S&D without Ivo's Bentley. And great to see the Yankee tank on Brew Street. We have 2 on the KESR, though only one is generally in use at present.
Yes, that IS how Somerset in the 50's looked. You have captured it very well indeed. Really nice layouts, ( yes, LAYOUTS, not diarama's ) and plenty of inspiration for aspiring modelers, like me, with limited space available.
it's OK to dream dreaming is a wonderful thing. That's one thing no one can ever take from you you appear to me to be an artisan of the railroad it's a beautiful thing. I do sincerely appreciate your video very inspiring it's OK to dream❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ God bless be safe
I love the S & D theme especially the "Bridgewater" terminus. Sadly I never saw it and it is long gone. You have the essence of the Somerset levels. I like the back scenes you have done.
I remember most of these layouts from a magazine some years ago , Model Rail I think . Really impressive and very realistic . What gauge are the layouts ? they look like O gauge !
Hi Chris. Subscribed to your channel, good to see you "come to life"! Remind me again how you did the large "ivy leaves" in the drainage beck. (You did tell me in an email some years ago). I really love your layouts; true inspiration indeed - my aspiration level raises every time I see your inimitable style! Best wishes, Bob
Lovely video, all these layouts give me loads of inspiration and ideas. Love each one. Quick question, what's that red branch line coach at 10:04? I adore the look of it!
You love trains but really you are without a doubt a very skillful artist. You make 3D art. When I saw your first layout with the crossing I thought S&D, im sure I have seen this on Branchline Railway. You need a Sir John Betjmin figure.
MrDavil43 Hi, I have seen Chris's work described on line. I believe there are books on his work too. There are certainly the Monthly Magazines featuring his work too. If you search "Nevada Media" you'll find lots of references. Best wishes.
Ha, love the idea of 'keyboard warrior monthly' great looking layouts mate, as always, very impressive. You certainly have developed a style. Much like now famous artists and their famous pieces hanging in galleries, it's possible to stand, looking at a layout and say "that's a Nevard"
Chris you have created extreme realism in these layouts, you are a very talented modeller.
Great vignettes of railway modelling, as they say a picture paints a thousand word and model even more.
As you rightly say these dioramas are pure escapism from modern life and very atmospheric, I particularly like the way you added grass and vegetation among the tracks adding to the realism, I admire you guys and the patience it must take… thank you for sharing
Recall following these years ago. Great to see them still alive.
I love the atmosphere of these types of Diorama, a snapshot of bygone days that sometimes I wish we had back… the tunnel in the first one gives a feeling of depth and imagination not knowing what’s at the end… very good work and detailing 👍🏻
Stunning detail and craftsmanship
Awesome attention to detail love the pen marks for the cobblestone effect
I just stumbled on this and I'm so glad I did. Great modelling. I guess my favorite is Calcott. Thanks Chris.
What beautiful layouts! They will inspire and encourage people who don’t have much space to still go ahead and create a layout. The back-scene photos help to give the illusion of a lot more room than there actually is.
Hi Chris I love your layouts you make me went to start. Keep your good hobby going . Thanks chris.
This is one of the best diarama/layouts I've seen in a long time. This deserves more likes.
You made my comment for me 😉

Came back to watch this again....nostalgia is the word that comes to mind as I grew up in the Wirral where coal trains and passenger traffic with 2-6-2s were the normin the 50s,,,
This layout has some of the nicest building weathering I have ever seen.
That is the best model railroad grass and weeds I've ever seen. All the scenery is superb but you make the grass and weeds on other layouts look like Astroturf and manicured lawns. Bravo!
Some of the best work I think I've seen. Stunning
Came back to this as the colouring and detain is wonderful....it's not overdone like many...simple and very realisitic
Just discovered this video and am pleased it brings together a number of your creations I have read of in magazines over the years. Fantastic level of detail and use of colour brings believable realism.

Excellent work...one of the best
Brilliant!
Excellent modelling skills very envious lol!
I sow at a locos club show low relief that stuck out the back of the backboard so gives depth to the buildings

If Carlsberg made railway layouts, they would be exactly like this (including the Marshal amp....or in my case, line 6) FANTASTIC
Ha, love the idea of 'keyboard warrior monthly'
