  • In the final episode of our Xingyi Quan series, we travel to the ancient capital of China, Luoyang in Henan province, to learn about the rare style of Xinyi Liuhe Quan from Master Ma Zhi Ping. This style has been practiced within the Chinese Muslim community for hundreds of years, and is said to have preserved the earliest methods of Xinyi. There are two main branches of Xinyi Liuhe, one in the city of Zhoukou which you can also find in Shanghai, and the Luoyang style which is incredibly rare. In this episode, we meet Ma Zhi Ping in the local Mosque to learn about the Luoyang style of Xinyi Liuhe.
    In this series, I team up with Paul Andrews of Xingyi Academy and Jon Nicklin to travel to Tianjin, Shanxi and Henan to explore the various styles of the art of Xingyi Quan. We will cover the Hebei Style of Li Cun Yi, Song and Che Family Xingyi in Taigu, Dai Style Xinyi in Qi County and Muslim Xinyi Liuhe in Henan Province.

      Joined your mailing list. Great insight. Away from the big cities few see real life in the middle kingdom. Especially living in a tiny city next to changchun. As expected truly unique and devastating. I’m sure the uninitiated would dismiss the movements, There’s very little beauty about bashing someone’s brain in 3 simultaneous strikes, Key one a head butt.

    Very interesting. The applications are just like what we do in Cheng Ting Hung lineage of Practial Wudang Tai Chi Chuan. Pat the horse, draping the body and needle at sea bottom etc. also their forms remind me of Pentak Silat from Malaysia which are really similar. Fascinating style

    • @trym2121
      @trym2121 4 года назад +2

      Silat is a result of mix martial arts from Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. You can easily guess where does those 3 comes from. India, China, and middle east. So if you're saying it's similar. It comes from the same root

    • @pemburu7678
      @pemburu7678 4 года назад

      Similar like silat buah pukul mersing..and no one know where silat comes from..there are no proof to claim which it comes..even the malaysian dont know the origin of silat and who makes it..

    • @TschikoDeutsch
      @TschikoDeutsch 3 года назад +1

      actually the first Silat founded was Silek Tuo Minangkabau in 10th Century in the land of Kingdom of Pagaruyung Minangkabau,
      but I cannot say that all styles of Silat took Silek Tuo as the root because in Malay Archipelago all martial arts were called Silek or Silat in old days since that time Silat/Silek was the only word to mention about martial art
      before Silek Tuo Founded, there was no specific word for martial art
      today new word created, in Indonesian Language the term for Martial art is Beladiri, just remember that it's a new word
      In the past all martial arts were called Silek/Silat which is similar in China even till now where all martial arts are called Wushu
      P.S.
      I never say Silat came from Indonesia or Malaysia, because it actually came from the land of Malay Archipelago or what we called Nusantara, and the first Silat even belong to Minangkabau people which now live in West Sumatra (Indonesia) and Negeri 9 (Malaysia)
      now many Malaysians and Indonesians are fighting to claim who has Silat, it's just moron
      even Minangkabau people admit that Tiger Style of Silat came from Kingdom of Champa (Located in Cambodia), Cat Style of Silat came from Kingdom of Siam (Located in Thailand), and Dog Style of Silat came from Kingdom of Persia (Located in Iran) , so even We as Minangkabau never over proud of Silat that actually created for the first time in our land, we respect all the kingdoms where we got the techniques from

      Maybe, but if you look at history of lei tai fighting, these styles (Xingyi and Xinyi) produced fighters and killers. Shang Xueli killed Shaolin fighter Zhang Qilin using a knee strike with " back power", Lu Songgao killed people(Xinyi Liuhe) Xin Jian Hou (Xingyi) won the 1931 lei tai tournament. Dai Family (Dai Family Xinyi) dominated the caravan escourt business because of their techniques and power generation. Sometimes power doesn't have to be "Karete" or "Boxing" type.

    Every Kung fu method that uses entanglement besides very intense wrestling does not take into consideration the opponents footwork or the flashing speed of people’s arms they always insist their partners stick there arms out. I definitely think modern masters should all have to deal with western boxers an adapt there arts. There’s a whole channel dedicated to an aikido black belt who ended up leaving the art due to finding out just how difficult it is to connect to someone’s wrist or elbows in a fight. It is getting boring to see self satisfied teacher showing grappling techniques the really on the wrist grip which is nearly impossible to attain when someone wants to harm you.

      You can't apply his case to every kung fu, yeah many kungfu suck because many masters can't really be called master. Most authentic kungfu masters are either dead or way too old now, but some still exist
      I have practiced in a kungfu school that allows its student to spar with real power and full resistance especially if you've trained for more than 1 year, and a few cases of sparring between teachers lead to hospital treatment
      And just to let you know that aikido is utter useless because aikido's idea is to use moves that will protect the enemy from getting hurt and in aikido they're not taught to spar will full resistance.

      We have bailong naga putih kungfu school here, the master currently lives around Depok, Jawa barat
      My teacher lives in lembang bandung
      This school has 5 or 7 branches around java, Indonesia
      Sadly due to covid, this school hasn't trained for a while
      And also there is the infamous silat cimande, in Jawa Barat, my teacher did trained there for several years
      I have a video tutorial from silat cimande that even teaches you how to move on the floor, dragging yourself on the floor and even using karambit. The weird thing is the instructor in that video is a westerner who have trained in silat cimande for a while

      If you're referring to "Martial Arts Journey" that dude just practices martial arts for a few weeks so he can make a "Why I quit..." video. Of course Aikido useful in a "fight" it's meditation with self defense lessons but it is still an incredibly valuable art.
      I think it gets boring seeing people thinking every "self defense" thing is supposed to be used for MMA or fighting competition.
      ... Only reason I replied to this is because the there's someone else who replied after a few months. I typically don't reply to long dormant posts.

    Can you still learn from them, or has China rounded them all up into camps? I have great respect for many aspects of Chinese culture, but they've been going drastically wrong in so many ways ever since mao.

      I think hui people may have less problem. Since they are chinese also. If there is, then maybe a little degree of islamophobia which is happening around the world too. The one most pressured maybe the uyghur, since they're not ethnically "chinese".
