    I grew up in Baltimore when just about everyone I knew was poor but we didn't break into each other's houses, steal our neighbor's car, molest their daughters, shoot each other, take drugs. Our front doors were never locked from morning until night, sometimes even over night. If we could not afford a dishwasher, we washed dishes by hand, we didn't steal one from a delivery truck or a store. Our neighborhoods were safe and clean. That is the childhood I remember. Baltimore has become a hell-hole for crime as has many other large cities in the US.

    My husband wants to return home to Baltimore?! This hasn't been his home since 2006. I'm crying inside for this city. I heard trouble is moving into Rosedale, too.

      Heard they destroyed Hollander Ridge. Guess those "residents" had to scatter somewhere. I left the entire Baltimore area years ago and refuse to go back. My life is more important than trying to pretend that I have that old Baltimore pride. Lost that many years before I left. If you can't change the city/county than you just have to remove yourself if you aren't willing to deal with what's left.

    I suppose the bright side is Baltimore doesn't look so bad compared to Detroit! I see the abandoned houses everywhere. If you are feeling frisky check out Fulton & Monroe streets. The West side is horrible too. Be very careful though!
    All these homes are in what were once nice, middle-class, neighborhoods. Even formerly upper-class areas like Eutaw Place are suffering the blight.
    Between lack of jobs, education, poor work ethic, broken families, & a total lack of personal responsibility, all supported by a political system that encourages apathy & dependence, I'm not sure of a solution.

    On the one picture you have of concrete bridges - that is the 1500 block of Cole St 21223. Two people were murdered right where you were standing. They were a white coupe sitting in a car making a drug deal that went bad.

    If America had a proper immigration policy, instead of allowing in millions of poor Latinos, they would seek immigrants from around the globe with capital $$$ to create business and jobs in poor, declining cities like Baltimore. It needs immigrants, with money.

    I'm not sure I understand; how is this a national infrastructure issue? You discuss 'fire-fighters putting their lives on the line for non-performing assets' at the end of your commentary, but how are abandoned row houses a government infrastructure issue? These crumbling buildings should be cleared out, and the local government should start thinking about ways to get manufacturing back into the region to generate wealth/value (tax incentives, I guess?). I see this as the role of gov, not building/maintaining row houses. Great video by the way - stay safe!

    • @deadmessenger3484
      @deadmessenger3484 7 лет назад

      So, respect is not identifying the music or giving credit? Most people on youtube are nice enough to do that. Good luck making a living on youtube videos. btw, you can post videos on youtube so they can't be downloaded. Talk to the poster about that.

    • @Chaps0n

      There is no way for you to have his beat stored on your pc or whatever device without having paid for a license or full rights. For all I know, the poster here purchased a license so he could use it. You on the other hand, stole it. I won't talk to the poster. I'll talk to the producer instead. What he does with the info is up to him of course. :-)

    This reminds me too much about Detroit. The city is going back to nature. Blight is never good, but some of those empty blocks can be repurposed. Having new farmland in the inner city is never a bad look. Crazy to think I used to drive all over those westside blocks for years and never knew that the facade of the house was all that was.

    It's really not the hard to figure out what happened there; should be a lesson to the other liberal sanctuary cities. San Francisco and Seattle, meet your futures.

    • @astridgalactic9336
      @astridgalactic9336 5 лет назад

      To be honest, it's not the illegals (which is a problem, for what it's worth) who have destroyed Baltimore or even whom you must fear. It's the locals. To get closer to the crime caused by illegals, you need to get closer to DC, like in Montgomery County. It's gotten really bad there. I suspect the local Baltimore criminal class have scared the illegals too much to chance trying to establish themselves there. Just my observation.

    I'm a white guy, I work for the post office and took the bus for 3 years from Overlea Loop to City Hall. I formed some very fond freindships on those bus stops. The people of Baltimore are good people and will help you in time of need. Know that. We can get along just fine. Outsiders....stay away and dont try to stir shit up. It wont end well for you.

    • @paizley11
      @paizley11 7 лет назад +13

      Actually, you probably wouldn't want to see what happens when people all over the country are suddenly homeless and don't have enough food to eat.

    • @astridgalactic9336
      @astridgalactic9336 5 лет назад

      An even bigger problem than the proliferation of welfare is the intense level of corruption of the political class who profit off of all of this degradation in so many different ways at the expense of their constituents. Baltimore is a perfect example of that. The Halls of the political elite need to be cleaned out before the rest of their environment can be saved.

    While beautifully shot, this is a very misleading story from the perspective of a someone either unfamiliar with the city, or someone who is very naive, and just wants everything to be like what they think it should. I lived here for two years. Baltimore is heartbreaking and inspiring all at once. What is happening there is not unlike what is happening in St Louis, Chicago, New Orleans, and other American cities, but Baltimore gets the attention because of 'The Wire', a show that makes me miss the city all over again. I found Baltimore to be a place that cannot be summed up by a 7 minute, or multiple 7 minute, hi def video shot by drones and an iphone. This guy needs to do his homework a bit better.
