I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose someone you've known for so many years. Scott was amazing. My respect for Dean, Robert and Eric for having enough patience to keep going after the loss of a good friend. Thanks for still rocking with us guys and congrats on the new singer. Jeff sounds amazing. STP is back!!! And by the way the new song sounds great! It has the essence of STP. And the vocals make it sound familiar without ripping off Scott. Jeff has his own style. Thank you guys! I can't wait for the new album!!!

I saw these guys live earlier this year, and HOLY CRAP!!!!! This new guy is incredible live! It was so good to hear him do the old stuff (classics) and songs like this

Hi Clint - I've heard his Dry Cell music and like a few of the songs, but I didn't know about him until he sang Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen on his first go at The X Factor. I have his Band With No Name and Rival City Heights albums from when he was with those groups and they are great too! Glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves after all of his hard work over the years!

I liked STP 20 years ago and honestly haven’t listened to anything in the past two decades. Just heard they had a new frontman so I took a listen....this is pretty good. Hope they have good success together.

I typically support bands looking for new vocalists rather than disbanding, and I'm glad STP went with the former. Great vocals, decent song. I'm looking forward to whatever comes next.
Mooky Blaylock 3/4 of the original members are still in the band, and two of those are primary songwriters. It's still very much Stone Temple Pilots, and just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's "fucking stupid." It's smarter to keep the name anyway, as many people are already familiar with it. I believe Skynyrd only has one original member left, so why don't you go bother them instead?

Ok, lets set the record straight...Weiland was a melodic God... a cat who could craft an otherworldly melody and deliver it like no one else!! Agree thus far?? Good. That said, Jeff Gutt, had some pretty HUGE SHOES to fill. Well, one listen to the tunes on this new record, well, if you do not think he has MORE THAN RISEN TO THE CHALLENGE, you have to have ears made of CEMENT!! This cat is the real deal. He got the gig for many reasons. Not the least of which is he is a badass singer frontman and writer. All the STP hatwrs should listen again.
I'm a huge fan of STP since age 16. I had posters all over my room! Well now age 40 still a huge fan. Excellent choice for lead singer. He has his own style but can still perform our favorites. I'm just so excited to hear and see more.

Jeff Gut was the absolute perfect choice for this band. What a damn good voice. It gels so well with the band. This song could have been on their first two records. Can't wait for the 2nd post Scott album to come out next year!
I agree with everything you said except I think that this song only fits the third album, Tiny Gifts... It sounds very much like it was from that album! Definitely the first two albums, though.

Agree, this isn't bad by any means and they're not selling out to indiepop or anything either - but it sounds more like a soft Queens of the Stone Age song than the early, aggressive STP with Sex Type Thing etc.

Sounds like the Cinnamon stuff but not as good. Scott was always melodically interesting. There will never be another Scott unfortunately. Remember, Dean would bring a melody to Scott but Scott would make it his own, they were always amazed by that. This guy will have to work on that, in my opinion. But at least they're keeping it going.

Purchased the entire LP.....EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT! The entire new album is indeed, genuine STP. Every single song is either great or really good. Jeff Gutt is the perfect fit, and will revitalize this awesome band. Yes, there is life beyond Weiland.

No one can replace Scott Weiland. Luckily, they didn't; they chose someone with a similar style that fits their music. I had my doubts, but luckily they still sound great.

Actual fact, the song "Glide" is an old one. Remember the STP off shoot band "Talk Show"? Well, if you have a live recording of one of their shows they did a song called "Saturday, which is the same tune as "Glide" but with different lyrics. The song can be found here on youtube.

The more I listen to this, the more excited I get to hear the whole album. NOBODY can replace Scott, let's get that straight first and foremost. However, I'd say Jeff has managed to achieve his own style while at the same time adapting a vibe that's not all that different from what Scott pulled off in the Tiny Music/No. 4 era. That's quite a feat in and of itself...to sound familiar and yet not derivative at the same time. And I'm digging the heck out of it!

Jeff Gutt has an amazing voice. And this is a GREAT song. Love Weiland, but since he is no longer with us, I think Gutt is a great replacement. What I like is that he's not a Weiland faker...he has his own great voice. Rock on, boys!
