Adding a comment! LOVE your JETSON Bolt videos and the pimping on this e-bike! This video and the one about doubling your range have helped us to buy a JETSON. Thank-you!
Thank you so much Shiva - both of my Bolt Pro throttles failed over time and while I was worried about being able to do this mod successfully, but following your directions worked perfectly. Thanks for putting in the work, and cheers from a fellow Coloradan
Brilliant tutorial buddy. I personally find this more dangerous. I used to have it on my scooter and it was much easier to fire that lever when you didn't want to! I got into serous trouble. I'll always stick to twist and go, for that reason. Each to their own right.
You are right about to each their own. One friend, my wife, and I all switched our ebikes from twist to thumb throttles for the same reason. It seems we all like to twist the throttle when mounting and dismounting which dangerously sends the bike shooting off uncontrolled. Each of us sustained minor injuries at least once before making the decision to switch to the thumb throttles.
coming from a motorcycling background, throttle grips are better because they allow you to properly grip the handlebars. Opposable thumbs make that possible, but if you need the thumb to operate the throttle, you're basically just holding on with your palm and a few fingers. It's fine for smooth roads and slow speeds, but sometimes a more secure grip is warranted. That said, it was evident who was a novice to throttle grips at a Can Am demo ride, because they would turn the throttle grip and once it started accelerating, they just grabbed it harder to try hanging on as the bike left them behind, accelerating even harder in the process in a vicious cycle 😂. Experienced bikers will put a finger on the brake lever as a reference point for the throttle grip angle.
Thanks Shiva for this video! I should mention, this also works with replacing a regular throttle (my stock one broke), and doesn't require the yellow wire.
@@anonymousanonymous6386 Unfortunately, without a bluetooth module, we cannot disable the speed limiter. However, I am doing a controller upgrade to see if I can make it go higher than 15mph. I will put out a video if I figure it out.
I believe you have the new bike. I have heard that the OEM throttle wire on the new one is Green as opposed to Blue in mine. Try that and it might work. Otherwise you might have to try other combinations or reach out to the throttle manufacturer. Sorry I don't have more input on this. Thanks
Hello have a question about my Jetson pro if I did not want to use my old throttle, just use thumb throttle can I delete the cruise control it still works
So I was trying to install a throttle because the original broke and I cut the wires way to short so I tried cutting it on the other side and connecting it there but it didn't work do you recommend getting a whole nother controller or can I salvage the old one I been doing repairs all day to this bike it's my only mode of transportation and it is a 4 hour walk to work any advice you have would be greatly appreciated thank you for all your help
Can you please email me with some pictures (sapkotatechnology@gmail.com)? Did you cut the wires too short coming out of the controller? Finding that exact controller will be hard, you might need a different type of controller.
Could you help me? my sons handle completely broke on the Jetson Bolt Pro so instead of wiring at the harness I am splicing at the exposed wires at the handle. I cut away the black insulation and the wire colors I have are RED/WHITE/BLUE/BLACK/YELLOW/GREEN. There is no brown/maroon/grey like in your video. How do I know what is what? I have a multi meter and I also cannot test throttle because it is not functional.. EDIT: Got it. Matched the wires and it worked out!
Hello, thanks for watching my video. I hope you are recovering well from your surgery. Unfortunately, due to the cables, modifying handlebars wouldn't be possible. You could however add extension bars so you wouldn't have to reach the handlebar all the time but you will still need to reach the bars to apply brakes. Hi Shiva, great video! If I want to disable the throttle, which wire should i disconnect at 14:45 in the video? I want to put a toggle switch inline so that I can easily disable the throttle. Would you recommend the switch go on Power, Signal, or Ground?
I would recommend you put the toggle switch on your signal wire (blue). That way, you don't have to worry about power and ground. You can use a very simple one wire toggle switch for that. Thanks for watching my video. Let me know if you run into any issues or have questions about your upgrade.
Following this video, i did add a switch so that the throttle could just be turned off. When I opened it up, my wiring harness ended up being black with a green signal wire. Using your diagram i was able to easily find it though. Thanks!
Having just watched, I wonder if releasing the handlebar clamp and sliding the handlebar all the way to one side would give you enough wire length to not have to create slack in the existing handlebar wiring...
I tried that on mine and I still needed more slack, the handlebar is quite long. But, each bike might have different wire slack, so might work for some folks. Thanks for watching my video.
I have a question. I hooked up all the wires temporarily and tested it. Everything worked like it should. I plugged finished permanently hooking up the wires and when I plugged in the battery to test it made a click sound and it turns out I had left the unit on. Now it doesn't want to work. I'm 💯 I hooked up the wires correctly. Any ideas what could be wrong? Did I torch the controller when I unplugged the battery while it was on them plugged it back in later?

Hi Shiva, great video, keep up the good work, will be doing this to my bike soon. One suggestion is to use Wago or Lever nuts to avoid solder sleeves and allowing for more serviceability in the future. 😊

Sadly, mine didn't work. Bought the same throttle, but even if I connects it directly in the female connector like a full replacement of the original throttle, pressing the thumb doesn't make the wheel spin. The screen does show the voltage thought. Any thoughts on this? Should it work like a full replacement? Can the throttle be bad? Also, my original throttle doesn't have the same colors. Without actually having this product in hand, I wouldn't be able to tell you where to connect the red and black wires. You can check out here. amzn.to/2P5YfFb

Will this mod work on the Jetson Haze?
Nice work bro what if im going to remove the cruise control and put only an voltmeter and a throttle?
Enjoy watching your videos on the Jetson. I just bought it and find it a fun little bike.
This bike is really fun! Thank you.
Adding a comment! LOVE your JETSON Bolt videos and the pimping on this e-bike! This video and the one about doubling your range have helped us to buy a JETSON. Thank-you!
Awesome thanks for the video. Really waiting for that controller upgrade to get some more speed. Keep up the good work!
Hi Alfredo, thanks for watching my video. I am working on the controller upgrade, hopefully soon :)
Do you have a video on repairing the tires. We got a flat.
Do you know if disconnecting the white wire disable the speed limit?
No it doesn't. You have to reprogram the controller or replace it. Thanks!
Awesome start to the video. Really enjoy how you make it as easy as possible
Does the same device would work on a Jetson up?
Thanks Shiva for this video! I should mention, this also works with replacing a regular throttle (my stock one broke), and doesn't require the yellow wire.
Can you do a vid on how to install a different twist throttle
How do you take the forks off jetson bolt pro please answer back
You can remove the axle bolt to unhook the fork. I have a video on tire replacement that shows this process for the back tires.
Hi Shiva, my bike's accelerator handle came off.
I now have a metal spring and the handle detached from the bike. Is there a way to fix this?
On the upgraded controller where did you put the voltmeter
Bro i was wondering if the controller can handle a 48v ??? Please because 36v feel slugish
Bro, unfortunately, it cannot. It will probably burn out. Max it can take is 42V.
Damn thanks tho if you can do a controller upgrade that be great
Or figure out how to disable the speed controller pleaseeeee
@@anonymousanonymous6386 Unfortunately, without a bluetooth module, we cannot disable the speed limiter. However, I am doing a controller upgrade to see if I can make it go higher than 15mph. I will put out a video if I figure it out.
@@ShivaSapkota I already did the bluetooth hack to 19 but i want to go faster so was wondering if you can do a controller upgrade
Need your help I replace the thumb throttle I deed conectes the way you show bust don’t work there is not a morun wire in mi bike
I believe you have the new bike. I have heard that the OEM throttle wire on the new one is Green as opposed to Blue in mine. Try that and it might work. Otherwise you might have to try other combinations or reach out to the throttle manufacturer. Sorry I don't have more input on this. Thanks
Can this thumb throttle be used like a standard thumb throttle WITHOUT connecting the voltage meter?
Hi Shiva, great videos as always. It looks like an interesting setup; I might consider trying this out later.
Thank you very much! Yes, this is a great upgrade.
Hello have a question about my Jetson pro if I did not want to use my old throttle, just use thumb throttle can I delete the cruise control it still works
Will any other throttle works ? I have a Jayor X5s throttle will that work ?
Appreciate your time helping us all out.
The throttle grip handle slid off the handle bar. How is the handle held in place, glue?
Do you know where I can get a bigger crank sprocket so it won't be so hard to pedal when the battery goes dead?
@@ShivaSapkota thank you so much I will email you some pictures soon as possible
I have the same problem different wire color
Is there anyway the handlebars can be modified ? My shoulders (I had surgery) ache from the reach…
Something like this might work: amzn.to/3t8chEV
I bought the bike basket listed on your amazon storefront page, I can't get it around the handlebar clamp, how were you able to install it?
Hi Nick, I personally haven't installed it. This is from one of my subscribers: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vWlyASylvrAaLTGDHQfQcIMjdFILNc_8?usp=sharing.
Thanks!
@@viernesb Awesome, I am glad my video was helpful. Thank you for watching.
I just changed the 3 wires. It works but no voltage on the new throttle
I have question the light in my jetson electric bike don't stop flashing
in some models of this bike the break is on the left, Can i switch the breaks gear to the right side of the handle bar?
I have a question. I hooked up all the wires temporarily and tested it. Everything worked like it should. I plugged finished permanently hooking up the wires and when I plugged in the battery to test it made a click sound and it turns out I had left the unit on. Now it doesn't want to work. I'm 💯 I hooked up the wires correctly. Any ideas what could be wrong? Did I torch the controller when I unplugged the battery while it was on them plugged it back in later?

Hey I got the same bike how can I get a new weel for mortor plz help me
Hi Jonathan, did you have a flat tire? The wheel size on this bike are 14"x2.125. If you need a wheel replacement, you can contact Jetson. You can also pick one up from amazon. Thanks for watching my video.
Hi Shiva, great video, keep up the good work, will be doing this to my bike soon. One suggestion is to use Wago or Lever nuts to avoid solder sleeves and allowing for more serviceability in the future. 😊
Thank you very much for your feedback.
I will ask my bike wheel spins lights but won't carry no one after changing the back tire lost a clip so if u know what it could be thanks
Hi, I purchased the thumb throttle for the standard Jetson Bolt (without pedals). The voltage indicator works but not the thumb throttle. The bike does not move.
Hi Marc, please double check the connection. I suspect your throttle wires might be different than mine depending on when you purchased the ebike. Thanks.
@Marc Champagne ever figure it out? I have same issue...
Do you have the original controller pinout/hookup connections, I removed mine to install a new controller realized I was in over my head tried to put the original back in now it does not work

I want to add a key switch on my bolt pro. I plan to open one of the leads going to the existing on/off switch and insert my key switch between the removed lead and the switch. My question is ,which cable or conductor, coming from the controller, do I cut into. I’ve tried to get a wiring diagram on the bolt pro but with no success. Also , it seems that most controllers are pretty generic in there wiring setup. Any help would be appreciated.
Decent video. I needed it to help me and it worked perfectly.
2 mm Allen wrench when I tried to unscrew the throttle, it won’t work I think it might be stripped any tips?
I have a prior Jetson model with no pedals and no brake on the right side. I plan to replace the old throttle following your very detailed directions and hope the wire colors are consistent with my model. The old non robust twist throttle broke.
Hi Dave, thanks for watching my video. I believe it is the same wiring. If it is not the same when you open your controller housing, I might be able to tell you which wires to tap into. Just send me a picture to my email with close up wiring and I will try my best to help you out.
Might be same wires from the controller, but my wiring harness on the exact same bolt pro model that's he's using had different color wires going to throttle and battery indicator.

I got a replacement throttle it has 6 wires white black brown green red and yellow could you please help me out and tell me how they match up with the scooter
I want to put on a different twist throttle instead of a thumb throttle. The only ones I can find have 5 wires instead of 4? They all seem to have 2 wires for throttle power instead of 1. My question is, is there a way to wire one of those to the jeston? Or am I just out of luck?
Any idea why my voltage meter is staying on constantly
Will still run at 18 speed with a 36v battery?
Hi Julio, not with the stock controller. You need to upgrade it. I have a video here: ruclips.net/video/InoocxVSAuY/видео.html
Hi Shiva, why the battery show 40.9V (@17.27)? Isn't it the battery is only 36V, are you using a 42V battery? Thanks!
Hi Erick, a 36 volt battery goes to 42 when fully charged. The "36V" is advertised as being the optimal voltage.
Hey Shiva, I've hqd a Bolt Pro for about a year, now the throttle is working intermittentantly. when I twist the wires in the stem it works.. that seems like a loose wire. I took the battery cover off and everything looks good.. so its probably in the stem.. .. (the connection).. you think?
I have tried everything to fix mine and it still does not work what do you recommend
Hi, my throttle grip had loosened on it's own. This video showed me how to tighten it back up. THANKS!! I think my Jetson Bolt needs a new headset. How would I replace it and where would I get the part? I've done that on regular bicycles years ago. Basically disconnect steering from fork.
Hi. I have this bike which was originaly the pegged version but i have added a crank kit ot it. Also added front brake. Bu tnow it won't start. I did originally cut in the replacement brake levers but have since reverted to original, now it won't start. Do I need to have the brake lever switches connected? What else could I look at as the cause of the problem. I tested after removing the rear wheel to ad the sprocket and all was well at that point. Is there any tests I can make on the output motor wires to see if there is power there? Kevin

Apologies for an unrelated question, my daughter fell from bolt pro, (she is ok) the handle is a little twisted ever since. Seems the handle is not 100 percent perpendicular to the tires/ wheels. Any idea how to fix that?
Will this work for jetson atlas fat tire

What is the thumb throttle called on Amazon
My Jetson e-bike when I power it up the headlights keeps flashing and it won't stop I will be replacing the throttle with a thumb throttle could that be making my headlight flash and not be able to turn it off
Hi Shiva
I want to install a thumb throttle with a key lock one. Could you please advise which one in Amazon Canada is compatible to Jetson Bolt Pro? Please also tell me how to match colour wires of the keyed throttle wires with the Jetson Bolt Pro wires. Thank you so much!
Hello Shiva, I have the stock throttle on my Jetson Bolt Pro. I upgraded the controller to the Brainpower 48v, I wired the Black, White, Red from the controller to the Black, Blue, Red on the throllal but no go. I'm at a loss ATM, any help would be great. Thanks Terence
I’m so happy you found how you did it 😊
Hey Shiva, Will it harm your battery if you charge it overnite?
Hi Frank, it will damage in a long run. The lithium ion batteries do die out faster if you leave the charger plugged in after the battery is full. This is also true for your phone.
Can you tell me how to repair the original throttle?
when are you going to unlock the speed limit? I hear some people said it can add a bluetooth connector, to make the bluetooth work with the app.
Hello, unlocking speed limit has been more difficult than I thought. It is impossible to find a bluetooth connector so I tried upgrading my controller. The new controller still only goes to 15 mph. I am trying to troubleshoot so will take me some time. Thanks for watching my video.
how fast it will be

Nice mod. Is it possible to add a rear derailleur to this bike?
Hi Can, I don't think you can add a derailleur without first modifying the bike. The entire chanring assembly will need to be updated and I don't think there is even room there. Thanks for watching my video.
Nice shiva . I have had success cutting the throttle on my ecotric bike to make a half throttle and a regular grip. I wrapped the handle bar so the outside of the grip would not turn. How do you get off the throttle on the jetson. Thanks. Ron

The cruise control cables are white and blue, the voltage is yellow and the throttle seems to be green, red and black.
Edit : and just like this, I totally forgot about the brakes. As I was testing, one of them was in the engage position. While this was fix, the rest went fine and now it works!
i definitely need to do this because my daughter was falling and was still holding the throttle, fell and broke her jaw and she's 30; it'll be advantageous for all of us: myself, daughter and grandson!

Hi Shiva,
when i currently twist my throttle, the bike will only go slightly slower than walking speed, would this method also work for me?

Hello, that sounds like a battery/motor issue. I don't think the throttle will help on that situation. It seems like the battery is not pushing enough current. However, there is a possibility the throttle is broken and is not functionally fully. Unfortunately, your situation requires some troubleshooting.
