      My throttle broke, the casing crumbled around the bolt that holds it in place. Since there is lots of cable I am going to use the part that held the handlebar on the throttle, and my dremel, to put the cruise on the left where the start button is now. Start can move over by the gooseneck, out of the way. And now I dont risk broken fingers or carpel tunnel.

      Update, FWIW: I was unable to salvage the OEM display. I might have been able to, but that would have required a longer set of handlebars.
      On the bright side, I was able to splice it together right below the bars, and leave those wires available for future use.
      I had to replace the grips themselves, but they matched the novelty mirrors I bought so all in all, it was the fashionable choice.

    Thank you so much for your video on this! My son's Jetson had the throttle go out on him. Throttle handle just spun around. Saw your video on installing a thumb drive, ordered the part, and some wire connectors, followed your wiring diagram, and though the colors weren't an exact match on my harness, I still followed your diagram, and it worked!! Works perfect. Thank you so much!

    I watched your videos on taking out the battery, replacing the rear disk brake pads and rotor, and a few other videos. These are excellent teaching vids for people like me, who would otherwise be clueless about fixing problems with the Jetson Bolt. I had a lot of fun replacing brake pads and rear rotor, even though it was (for me) a complicated job. Jetson does nothing to support this bike - I cannot even get a new rear fender! - so your work in this regard is very much appreciated. Thank you!
    (By the way, I purchased a set of brake pads from Amazon that turned out to be a fraction of a millemeter too big, and would not fit in the brake pad housing. My solution was to buy a Shimano disk brake caliper, which included the pads. It would make it easier, and ultimatley cheaper, for me to get replacement pads in the future.)

    I just bought a Jetson and subsequently found your channel. You're doing a great job providing useful tips and info. Thank you. I want to mention that my bike came with the folding latch so tight that it was extremely difficult to unlatch. After some tinkering, I figured out that the latch can be adjusted by rotating the bar in the latch.

    Didn’t originally want to do this mod, but on my way to my last final before graduating my throttle snapped. Thanks for the video, seems pretty straightforward. The OE throttle didn’t last all that long so I’m not convinced spending another $50-60 on a throttle that’s liable to snap in the same manner.
    Thanks for the videos on this bike, they’re about the only thing letting me maintain it myself on a tight commute budget after we had to scrap one of our cars due to insane back-to-back maintenance costs.

    Best bike video ever Shiva. My throttle broke during long bouncy ride in my boat. Bought a three wire thumb throttle on Amazon and hooked it up to the red black and blue and now works like a champ. Other wires on my harness were different colors but didn’t matter as I did not have to hook up the battery voltage wires. By the way, I hooked the thumb throttle to the right of the break leaver and cruise control. I did this by. Cutting off the grip, shortening it by the width of the throttle then putting in back with double stick tape like you use for attaching golf grips. Now have the best of both worlds. A thumb throttle and a grip that doesn’t rotate. Will not accidentally power this bike with the standard grip throttle which has caused me to flip a bike in the garage a while back. Thanks man. It is a wonder that you could figure out which wires to tap into. I’m a fan. Ron

  • @edwinmizrahi

    Thank you Shiva. I bought the thumb throttle and finished installing it after several days. My Jetson Pro is the older one and the color scheme of the wires did not match yours. So I tried many ways to match it up. After hours and hours of trial an error, I finally got it to work properly. A couple of notes for novices like me. The brake cable is easy to take off, but I found it really hard to get it back on to the brake lever. Also, snaking the wire through the frame was a bit tricky, but doable. Last but not least, do not make the same mistake I did by cutting the wires for the 6 pin throttle connector too close to the connector. You will have a real hard time splicing the wires together. BTW I also used your tire replacement video to help me replace my rear tire. Thanks again.

  • @moovintruespace994

    Brilliant tutorial buddy. I personally find this more dangerous. I used to have it on my scooter and it was much easier to fire that lever when you didn't want to! I got into serous trouble. I'll always stick to twist and go, for that reason. Each to their own right.

    • @charliemik7284
      @charliemik7284 2 года назад

      You are right about to each their own. One friend, my wife, and I all switched our ebikes from twist to thumb throttles for the same reason. It seems we all like to twist the throttle when mounting and dismounting which dangerously sends the bike shooting off uncontrolled. Each of us sustained minor injuries at least once before making the decision to switch to the thumb throttles.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 2 года назад

      coming from a motorcycling background, throttle grips are better because they allow you to properly grip the handlebars. Opposable thumbs make that possible, but if you need the thumb to operate the throttle, you're basically just holding on with your palm and a few fingers.
      It's fine for smooth roads and slow speeds, but sometimes a more secure grip is warranted.
      That said, it was evident who was a novice to throttle grips at a Can Am demo ride, because they would turn the throttle grip and once it started accelerating, they just grabbed it harder to try hanging on as the bike left them behind, accelerating even harder in the process in a vicious cycle 😂.
      Experienced bikers will put a finger on the brake lever as a reference point for the throttle grip angle.

      I believe you have the new bike. I have heard that the OEM throttle wire on the new one is Green as opposed to Blue in mine. Try that and it might work. Otherwise you might have to try other combinations or reach out to the throttle manufacturer. Sorry I don't have more input on this. Thanks

  • @ZOMBuckaCurt

    Your so smart and informative and very well spoken and thorough with the instructions you should make a dual motor mod and use the second battery you have just get a second controller and second motor or just get a whole second bike and mod them together lol

      Thank you very much, I really appreciate the support. I did recently hooked up a new controller to try to get this bike to go faster. So, technically I have 2 controllers and 2 batteries, I just need a new hub motor to make a dual motor system :)

    Sadly, mine didn't work. Bought the same throttle, but even if I connects it directly in the female connector like a full replacement of the original throttle, pressing the thumb doesn't make the wheel spin. The screen does show the voltage thought. Any thoughts on this? Should it work like a full replacement? Can the throttle be bad?
    Also, my original throttle doesn't have the same colors. The cruise control cables are white and blue, the voltage is yellow and the throttle seems to be green, red and black.
    Edit : and just like this, I totally forgot about the brakes. As I was testing, one of them was in the engage position. While this was fix, the rest went fine and now it works!

  • @srdjanmax

    This is great. However, I've implemented a much simpler solution. Buy a half-grip and cut off the jetson throttle for the length of the half grip. Voilà, now you have a half-twist throttle.

    I did this on my sons . Colors are a little different but it seems to work good . But when he rides the battery appears to drain super fast . (In seconds ) I can watch it drop as I ride it with a person on it. (Doesn’t do it when no one is on it ) . If I disconnect the battery connector and put it back together it reads 41 volts again and turns back on. Confused here

  • @ZOMBuckaCurt

    You should consider making it dualmotor

  • @flitsies
    @flitsies Год назад

    What you could have done is just piggy backed the lever throttle onto the original one so you could have used the lever or the twist grip might have been interesting two throttles on one bike.
    Not much point but least you wouldn't have a problem if one stopped working.

    Could you help me? my sons handle completely broke on the Jetson Bolt Pro so instead of wiring at the harness I am splicing at the exposed wires at the handle. I cut away the black insulation and the wire colors I have are RED/WHITE/BLUE/BLACK/YELLOW/GREEN. There is no brown/maroon/grey like in your video. How do I know what is what? I have a multi meter and I also cannot test throttle because it is not functional..
