When traveling from NYC to see my Mother in SC I once had to exit I95 to get gas. I wound up in a Sundown Town 5 miles from the interstate. I was pulled over and questioned then followed to the gas station then back to the interstate. I now make it a point to refuel before I hit the NC State line because there are no easy on easy off gas stations there.
