It's not really about FUNCTIONALLY Achieving Hypersonic -- It's about Materials/Metallurgy and Thermal Stress/Structural Engineering. Stresses have caused many an Aircraft Failure.... Ya May Reach MACH 10 But how many times can you do it w/o Structural/Thermal failure? Missiles have a Very Short Destructive Life anyway.... Not Aircraft.

Possibly landed that way intentionally, it's a short lil hop test flight with an extremely wicked experimental aircraft taking to the sky for the first time you wanna get it on the ground quick before anything goes wrong and then go check every little piece of the plane for any wear and tear and whatnot and check your data etc. Also factor in the fact that's prolly the first time he ever flew it and is getting used to the aircraft, I'm sure his next landing will be absolutely butter 😆. They didn't pick that pilot out of a hat I'm sure lol.

Aside from the steep landing, that looked like a very routine first flight, which AFAIK usually entails a basic moderately fast takeoff, a single leisurly lap of "the race track", and a basic slightly fast landing. Takeoff and landing will likely remain a tad fast until they get a more precise feel of the plane's actual stall speed. So ... takeoff, return, land ... easy peasey.
First flights are never supersonic. The more interesting stuff always happens on subsequent test flights.
