Mercifully, she was only a tender two years of age, a mere toddler. I say mercifully because memories don't really begin to form until after the age of 4. Her brain wasn't developed enough to be able to retain solid information about what happened.
When a Child witness something like that they go through alot of stress on the mind and as a defensive measure the mind blocks those events to protect the girl's mental state. So even when she grows up she won't be able to recall much of what happened as her memory is fragmented of the event and can only recall disturbing visuals and sounds that destroyed her psyche. As a result all those broken disturbing visuals and sounds she witness turns into what her brain can only translate the event of "moMmy Is iN tHe tReEs". When she grows older she would need to see a expert therapist to be able to translate what in the hell happened. and since he was a toddler what ever happened is probably trapped in her in the back of her head unable to wrap her head around it.

Just sends shivers down my spine to think about the fact that I could’ve easily walked by a body or even the killer himself without ever knowing!
Its insane how the cops didnt link The fact that there were four other couples that had been killed in the same area. Also, didnt they search the forest with dogs? Wouldnt they be able to find Mike even if he was buried?
@@FirePuncher183 yeah but remember before finding mike most everyone had already thought mike was the killer so they wouldn't have thought there was much relation besides same area and that they were killing couples because they thought Mike did it and so why would there be reason to connect the killers?
Depending how deep he was buried, the dogs wouldn't have been able to smell him. The fact he was only found so many years later he was buried pretty deep it seems.
I always love how in some of these professionals can’t find the things they’re looking for in the woods with planes and shit but some civilians can by just walking
I can’t find my own hairbrush or car keys half the time digging my entire house apart to look, but then a friend can just glance around and BAM, “It’s right HERE.”
“Mommy’s in the trees” gave me the impression she was hung, or something it’s highly possible that the killer killed the dad as the mum and kid took off to hide potentially in a tree but I still don’t understand why there was blood on the passenger side of the car and the letter in the dads handwriting
I have a theory. The dad fights off the killer as the mom and kid run away. He is stabbed near the truck and is dying, meanwhile the killer leaves the dad to die and runs off to chase the kid and mom. The dad(hoping that the mom and kid get away safely) knows he is dying and wants to tell his wife that he loves her one last time. So he climbs in the truck and writes it down so she will see it when it's all over.
No. The child was saying "she's in the trees" the same way that a grown person would say "she's in the woods" or "she's in the forest". The child probably just saw their mother being taken into the forest (trees) and not come back.
#1: I don't necessarily believe that Mike was buried. This stuff happens way too often, where searchers overlook evidence or remains, usually because they searched right around the area, but didn't hit that specific spot. His bones were probably scattered because of animals. #2: I think it's pretty clear that Mike was killed in the forest first, then killer came to where mommy and baby were waiting in the truck, killed Diana in the front seat, then dragged her body under the tree where it was found. Crystal saw all of this, and, of course, was in shock and only 2yrs old, so she probably blocked out the murderers face, but she saw her mom left under the tree, then the bad guy grabbed her and took her to the kmart. It's really unfortunate that they didnt have security cameras there.
@@rupeshkaushal2888 No. The little girl was never the target. I had suspects who were age, gender, and race specific. It's like ordering off a menu. If the menu doesn't have that specific meal, they're not hungry.
I’d like to say the body got replaced. Waited until the searches were over and put it right back. The note could’ve been forged so all of this would look like Mike.
Another story from the pacific northwest that should deserve a video: the soap lady of Lake Crescent. Her body was found soapified after three years of being underwater. And due to the conditions of the lake, it was the perfect conditions to make her body soapy which eventually floated up to the surface and the questions started popping up. How did she end up on the bottom of the lake? Who murdered her this way and tied her up before throwing her into the lake? What were their motives? Fascinating story and I visited the lake, never would've guessed that there's such a dark mystery tied to it. (Maybe let's get MrBallen to cover this story???)
I’ve heard of this case before, but damn I feel bad for Mike. I know he didn’t seem to be the best person, but he was a murder victim too and everybody just started saying he was a serial killer like wtf
Makes sense tho. They couldn't find him, and since many crimes are generally committed by those closest to the victim it makes sense they would think that.
@@nikitadondiva I mean all Mr. Ballen said was Domestic Violence, he never stated that he actually hit her... Yeah he maybe sounds like an asswipe, but doesn't rule out anything... And I'm sure that could've been detected in some way if he had hit his wife.
He was most likely the killer. Grid searches are notorious for "thoroughly searching" an area sometimes multiple times and finding nothing. Then a random hiker finds the body right in the center of the search area. It's a lot easier for the police to claim he was buried than admit maybe they didn't do a thorough enough search. But the previous couple wasn't buried. So breaks from the MO. And connecting 2 other couples that were killed (no tube sock in their cases) across decades and thousands of square miles of PNW forest is a stretch to say the least. Maybe he killed the couple because one got stuck in his trap and he panicked. Or who knows. But more probable than not he killed them (much less personal way than stabbing 17x) and at least his wife and himself.

The bonus thing in your videos is cool, John. As are your stories. When one involves a DAUGHTER, though, my heart just gets BROKEN. I can’t be the only one who assumed there was a guy with a pool ball in a tube sock that would beat people to death... I never even thought of a guy choking someone with a sock
I thought about a stuffed sock bludgeoning people to death, but now, I'm thinking of the indignity of dying by being strangled with a tube sock and thinking "I wonder if he wore this?" as I grasp the last bits of life I can, just hoping I don't smell sweaty foot before I go.

@@gavinfairbanks They clearly have some problem with couples, and it's somehow tied to the women (given the tube socks). Disgruntled, jealousy, etc could be the motives to kill the couples.
God…it’s sickening how many people literally get away with murder. If they had looked harder and actually found the bodies the first time they looked they might have found some clues.
Yes multiple search parties didn’t see anything. You must live in the city or something? Woods are huge dude. Additionally people place bodies back after searches are done.
I wonder if anyone attempted hypnosis on the girl when she got older? While not all police depts think it is viable, someones memories do emerge. It is said our brains contain all we have ever seen and heard; we just do not consciously recall it all. RIP to her parents and all the victims of this killer.
A problem is that while we may remember far more than we think we do, memory itself is surprisingly unreliable: It's not like a static video recording that always stays the same. Rather we remember things by, essentially, firing certain neurons in a certain order - making the brain repeat what went through it the first time, if you will. That order can change over time and if it does, we can't tell the difference between false memories and real ones. Because, technically, there isn't one. Not only can we badly misremember things, it's actually possible to convince people that they remember events that never happened just by suggesting that they did. Like, if the hypnotist asks: "Did he have brown hair?", that might _cause_ her to remember him as having brown hair even if he really didn't.
Im also for hypnosis. Never heard for a false memories under hypnosis, they may occur in your normal conscious state, where your brain can be tricked. Subconscious can't be controlled or changed/tricked into false memories in my opinion.

I wonder if that little girl remembers that night. She’s probably old enough to understand at this point, that’s super traumatic.
Hey I am glad that I remember to put my pants on...

This bloke knows how to tell a story, just a natural, very clear detailed just great.
@@coreytravisbean that’s a very solid theory
Maybe he( the dad) had someone kill them both, but the killer didn't have heart to kill the kid.
@@jeannietarantola5526 And he also "had this killer kill more couples" before that too for no reason?
What about the note though?
Also this killer probably had a daughter of his own
Maybe the killer knew there was no cameras there
@@rupeshkaushal2888 No.

They feel pressure to close cases, so they take the easy way out when available.
You would have done it much better I guess?!
Yes multiple search parties didn’t see anything. You must live in the city or something? Woods are huge dude. Additionally people place bodies back after searches are done.
Some people only answer for it when they die. Don't worry, they'll get what they deserve.
No one gets away with murder. A man reaps what he sows. Hell to pay. I did many videos proving atheist ingrates wrong about everything.
I wonder if anyone attempted hypnosis on the girl when she got older? While not all police depts think it is viable, someones memories do emerge. It is said our brains contain all we have ever seen and heard; we just do not consciously recall it all. RIP to her parents and all the victims of this killer.
Meh. There is a lot of evidence that indicates hypnosis is an unreliable tool.
Crazy how I am not very active on RUclips, yet I have watched and liked 85 of your videos so far. Your content is literally everything I am interested in. Thank you sir!
What do you do?
Check out that chapter. Another good channel about unloved crimes and mysteries.
So your only interested in death. That's fucked up
@@anthonywandowicz8084 you clearly havnt watched many of his videos. It's not all about death. It's about unsolved mysteries and the paranormal.
I'm no talent scout but I feel like Mr. Ballen's ability to memorize stories and to convey them in a very dramatic way; could be something movie/tv program folks would appreciate.
He reads off a script and there are several cuts in the video but his story telling ability’s are still amazing
@@itzyaboigamer9340 he said he actually memorises the story the day before but he has bullet points written out w key information so he doesn’t forget beside him
I get so engulfed in these stories, I don’t even bother looking for the secret for fear I’m gonna miss something in the story 🤦🏽♀️😂. #MrBallen is the best story teller! Sometimes I talk back like he can he hear me 😂😂
Me too!!!!
Exactly...idk y he even puts that secret there?
Same
Is there really even a secret picture in the vid. I have never seen it. I’m wondering if it a joke?
This story is particularly scary for me, I grew up right outside of Elbe Washington around 2011 and would play on the Nisqually river all the time. The fact that the killer is still uncaught, and I was living in the area that the skull fragment was found is truly terrifying. I would pass the logging road where Mike's skull fragment was found on the bus everyday.
Same I live in Tacoma Washington lol
Ohmy!
I’ve been watching these videos almost constantly for the past 3 days. I’m hooked.
Imagine being a good killer just to be called the “tube sock killer” 😂
I’m glad they got a bad name. What a horrible person. 😡
@@stellaberrett352 Well couldve they atleast gathered evidence and decided to name the killer based on evidence like The zodiac killer
@Mr. pumpkin who da hell r u
LOL
Not much of a ring to it is there? "Night stalker" "Hillside strangler" & "tube sock killer".......
Jack and Dianne Two American kids growing up in the heartland.
Jack, he’s gonna be a football star.
Ohh yeah! Life goes on!!! .... Suckin on the chili dog... 😮😯
I guess life didn't go on
@Joanna Martin in🇺🇸 America's heartland.. 🎸🎼. Oh yeeaahh life goes on...
Mrballen. You are the only person on RUclips that at the beginning of every video I hit the like button without listening or sometimes even looking at the title first and Have yet to be in any way disappointed. Keep it up please!!!!!!!!!! Seriously. I am dreading running out of your stories.
I honestly love that he says " we " upload every week instead of "I". I love that he includes his family too even if they aren't in all his vids 🥺🥺
He has an editor too
Mr.Ballen’s stories are more entertaining than movies
I put laxatives in the like button’s birthday cake and served it to his whole family and looked the bathroom door
😂
This is gonna get used for sure 🤣
LOL
Lmao
I shit my pants for 3 hours straight
I love watching Mrballen, but finding stories like this makes me realize we have serial killers people don't know about. And even worse, it's not like old history, they are still roaming around.
16:09 OR Krystle was freaking out on the way to kmart, calling out for her mom, and the killer was ttelling her repeatedly that her "mom was in the trees"
its so sad that mike's memory was "corrupted" for so long , imagine his daughter 😔
Yes however keep in mind even though she was not able to articulate it to anyone, she is the only person living that knows the true killer, and that it is not her fsther.
Haha
@@paulesterline5714 Guess she doesn‘t know it anymore, otherwise she could‘ve just described the killer a few years later
A reminder a retired Detective on a documentary saying that the worst enemy of a detective is tunnel vision
Facts
Was that from the Netflix documentary “The confession killer”?.
@@FOXCYBORGNINJA if I remember right I saw it here. There was a doc about a missing couple that were found to be killed. At the time there were several people killed in the same area but different jurisdiction. I think it was in the early 80s and the different jurisdictions didn't exchange information like they do today. They had a suspect, that they focused on and explored no other avenues. Decades later they would learn of the other killings and found the initial suspect couldn't have committed these crimes
I live in Washington and heard about this case a while ago, and I'm so glad I stumbled across this video!
Its a good thing Grandma could fly otherwise getting to the foster home would've been more of a burden
glad i wasnt the only one who heard it like that lmao I chuckle
Trust me, it was a burden anyway
Meaning she went as fast as she could or flew in from where she lived on a plane
@@debshaw680 I assumed she lived in another state and had to fly there on an airplane
That's how she beat the cops there.
Idk what’s worse, the fact that he was framed , or the fact that their is still a serial killer
The fact he was framed. Their was a quote something like “rather have many guilty people escape prison than one innocent man get imprisoned”
Probably also watching this video right now and hitting like
Sorry to be THAT guy but it's there*
@@carlindurfee7566 he wasn’t completely innocent though 😂 why are people forgetting that he abused his wife? He had a history of domestic violence, I don’t have a shred of empathy for him
I don't think he was framed. Just a bunch of lazy ass cops who settled for the easiest answer.
When she's older I hope their daughter is able to give more clarity on what happened, an especially I hope that she wasn't hurt
The daughter is older
Whether she was hurt or not, it's in the past, doesn't matter anymore. She never said she was hurt to begin with
