i’m a weirdo and love overdue braid take downs! I don’t wear wigs or weaves, but I do enjoy my hair in cornrows so I can relate to the matting... love the honesty!
@@tiadora8880 try taking down step by step , like leave it for a month then take down , if you notice that you didn’t get any matting , then you can at 2weeks when next you braid your hair , just keep adding weeks untill you reach the duration of months your hair can take without matting
The longest I kept my braids in was six months. I do wash, condition ,deep condition.... I do it all... the results are amazing if you have patience with yourself. At least. That's my learning. Again thanks for sharing your video.
@@onlyerikkaaa any video you put up im sure its going to be amazing to veiw. Thank you!;-) But, since you asked.....😁 Have you ever tried reverse conditioning? Its putting conditioner on dry hair. Thank you sis you made my day ❤️ I’ve never heard of that technique but I’ll look it up. I’m down for trying new things so I can get more content out there. I’m building this platform to uplift my ladies and show y’all it’s possible to have long luxurious hair.
The longest I've kept braids in was for 2 months but the next time you leave it in for however long you usually do, just put water and leave in-conditioner in a spray bottle then apply it to your hair and it will make the process a lot easier.
The longest I've done was 4 months and omg my hair was so tangled so what i did was soak my hair in water then put hot oil that way wen it was time to take out it wouldn't break off and it actually worked !!! And my hair stats to tangle as 2 months
I left my hair in a cocoon braiding pattern for about 4 months let me tell you I had 3 inches of hair growth it was my first time doing it due to lack of motivation/depression but my hair retained so much length I was amazed
Love this, Erica!! I keep my hair braided up as well. The longest I’ve gone is 3/3.5 months. My hair is happiest when left alone for a good minute. I was too satisfied by the new growth and take down of your hair lol ✨❤️
I always have my braids in for 3 months I consistently oil my scalp and wash and rinse my hair so the myth that we are abandoning our scalp for leaving in braids or any protective style in, is completely false. I know I take really good care of my hair when it’s in braids because it’s contained better and my hair grows longer with braids sooo yeah let ppl do what they do !
Pushing in 6 weeks... My goal is to keep my hair in this braids until this pandemic is over.... And I wash, condition and treat my hair weekly... And moisturize with water and conditioner, every day... Or ever other day. I must say, when I touch those ends poking out of my braids, I've never experienced such moisturized hair before in my life.
The longest I've had braids in was for 3 months this time around I'm trying to keep them in for 4 months. The best conditioner I use to detangle my hair is silicone mix.
The longest ive kept my braids in was a year and . I dont think that anything is wrong with keeping them in long because the goal is to retain length. I washed and conditioned my braids once a week and oiled my scalp and hair every other day. I did it for one year. I had 10 braids. When the take down came around, I applied conditioner aloeVera and olive oil to make it easier to take the braids down. They unraveled like a ribbon😍 I went from 8-9 inches of hair in december2018 to 16 inches of hair January 2020😍 healthy. No split ends.. 3weeks ago got some new braids(8) and I'll be keeping these in until June2020.
My hair is in cornrows, I wash it once a month, spray it with aloe Vera or fenugreek water every two days, condition, and oil. I’m on the 3rd month and I have lots of growth. My hair is still moisturized and clean. I definitely can go three more months.
Love the vid, decided to grow my hair.. Instead of dreadlocks, currently still protected for the longest ever since beginning my hairgrowth journey mid June.. I've only braided twice before my current braiding, on the 28th it will be 2 months straight🙂 was thinking about 3, buhh I'm sticking with your advice! *thanks
I am trying to keep my hair which I have plat 1 week ago for a few months but the suspense will kill me the longest I've ever leave my hair in protective style is 3 weeks n all I was thinking of is how long is it now how long is it now. hehehe am trying really hard not to touch my hair unless to moisturize it.
2:06 you can wash/condition your hair in braids. You don't have to go that long without washing/conditioning your hair. you can get a scalp disease, hair breakage, fungus, bacteria, and then of course it smells. The washing conditioning process with braids in goes faster because you're not detangling your hair. I leave my large plaits (20) in up to 3 months. I wash them every 2 weeks. My hair is happy and thriving.
Sis, next time use something with some slip. Flaxseed gel, aloe Vera or even a leave conditioner....something. Hopefully there won’t be a next time. 2 months max girl. No really 1 month is better. Way less shedding at the 1 month. Ijs. Your hair turned out great in the end tho.
I only made it one month lol but I'm starting my own challenge, we got this! If you do big braids on your own hair just redo the every two weeks, or whatever you want. Or me right now I'm still figuring it out
Mane n Tail Detangler Spray helps me section off hair Slippery conditioners like vo5 help Softline CombThru Moisturizer helps me finger detangle small sections It's old school, but it seems to work for me.

Wheeeeeew child this was hard to watch. To take them braids out dry like that. Fresh aloe Vera , flaxseed gel, leave in conditioner or even steam …..something.
I wash my hair and it itches after a week. Why do people do this that is unsanitary and bad for your scalp. Your hair is like a plant it needs tlc and WATER!!! 🤢. How about hair health over styles over dying to have length

You should oil your scalp and rinse your braids in the shower @ least once a month if you go a long time with your braids
Next time use a moisturizer before detangle, dry hair breaks
3 months is the longest for me.
