17:49 Holy crap the way the entire bar went silent at the ending scene, ugh it sends literal chills and just makes Visery's death even more sadder. Preparing myself to be crying all the way up until the next episode's released 😭🖤
Unfortunately I understand well how Aemond feels: teased and humiliated by those who were supposed to be his friends, absent parents, an idiot brother...has grown up and is growing up alone, so without a guide comes up as it comes.... unfortunately he knows no other way to defend himself if not becoming despicable in turn, indeed even worse in some parts...I'm sorry for him and for those people in the bar who laughed when they saw Lucerys laughing at him...
Love the musical foreshadowing in this episode. First Daenerys theme when Daemon finds the three dragon eggs. Then as Viserys tells Otto “I will sit the throne” a familiar tune rises to crescendo. The Baratheon theme signaling the beginning of Targaryen decline.
I know we first heard it with Robert, but I always viewed that theme as just the royal theme, esp since we've heard used in this series before. Still loved it's used here though. Robert's version is big and strong and grand, whereas Viserys' is slow and labored and faint, like it's trying to fight through to be heard. Found it very appropriate for him here. I also love that the original track for it in GoT is called "The King Arrives" and it's heard for the first time here when Viserys arrives to the throne room. I believe the first time it's heard in this series is when he's named heir in the first episode.
@@MarcReyes_ don’t forget, a slightly darker version of the same theme was used for Stannis. If I recall correctly it was used in Tommen’s coronation but of course he is in the Baratheon line at least technically.
@@ChristopherMarshburn oh for sure. But we've heard a lot of theme repeated from GoT for HotD, so they've all sort of morphed for me personally into something larger than for whom they were originally written. The Baratheons were all kings in their own way after all, so fitting they get the royal theme. I do like your read on it of the spectre of the future slowly beginning to take shape all these years prior.
That dinner scene had me pretty shook up. I wasn't expecting it to be so good and so emotional. Paddy played a man in agony better than any other I have ever seen.

And her sons are total psychopaths. If people think Aegon forcing himself onto that serving girl is the worst he does... then they are in for a rough road ahead, trying to defend that family. They are traitorous people, there's nothing more left to be said than that.
Literally Viserys has been saying half of his life that he want Rhanenyra as is heir ,made a last supper and said that he wanted his family to not fight and Alicent was like : oh ok so you want my Aegon to become king right 👍! Viserys speech didn't even make sense for her since he thought he was talking. To Rhaenyra
@@KabbalahSherry They could be traitorous and cruel as much as they want and I would still root for them and defend them, as long as they manage to ruin the entirety of house Targaryen by self destructing.

Aemond hasn't done anything evil like what Daemon and Rhaenyra have done as of yet and if you're referring to the books, the showrunners can choose to change some events just like they changed the murder of Leanor. stop discriminating against teenage boys.
@@KabbalahSherry but Daemon isn't? Daemon is literally worse than both Aegon and Aemond, Blood and Cheese and him killing his wife brutally with a rock is going to be far worse than anything either Aegon or Aemond do.
Viserys' face rotting from the side where the hightowers sit and his good eye from the side where rhaenyra and daemon and their family sit, is such sad and strong symbolism
@@serendipity3388 the symbolism continues during the episode when rhaenyra goes to talk to him in bed and sits next to his good face, at the end also when alicent is on the bad side
Some people aren't putting together that Alicent was already told of one "prophecy" by Viserys - the one dream he had of a prince being born to him and Aemma. I think that's the same episode he told Rhaenyra the prophecy of the Song of Ice and Fire. The idea that she would mistake Viserys' last words in line with that dream is a little gimmicky, but it was foreshadowed.
it's the absolute opposite lol this dude clearly knows he is in front of cameras and spams the same 3 basic expressions thinking he's some kind of main character, very insecure and attention seeking.
The series just keeps getting better and better, Paddy Considine & Viserys you will be missed :( a mediocre king but with a good rare heart. The Dance of dragons is now officially here and I cannot wait to see how some of the incredible scenes from the book are portrayed. Also despite Ewan Mitchells total 4 mins of screen time, he has already nailed Aemond one-eye, let the rivalry with Daemon begin
The way Paddy Considine portrayed King Viserys was absolutely phenomenal he bared Viserys heart and soul in trying to keep his family together.. bravo Paddy the perfect casting choice and boy did he deliver!!
The funniest thing about this video is that you were courteous enough to include replays but i only discovered this after replaying the scene about 10 times already lmao. Thank you
Alicent is educated in the naming conventions and complexities of lineage, and knows Viserys is near death, on milk of the poppy. Not to mention Rhaenyra has a baby named Aegon. I don't think the ending is a misunderstanding. the Queen is grabbing an advantage out of a murky situation while she can.
She is smart, she knows that Viserys was not referring to that drunk buffoon. I think she may understand that was a Rhaenyra thing and only use those words to her own goals. She twisted his final wish
That guy in the corner clapping his hands was ME IRL as this scene went down. Also the guy going nuts fiddling with his hat was hilarious. GoT is just on another level.
13:14 when the camera cuts to Rhaenyra just out of focus you can see Daemon reacting to Aemond fisting the table: “OMG I’ve been waiting for this magnificent 1-eyed sigma to go off all night!”
Nope. Sorry, but for all of Daemon's faults (arrogance, etc), one thing Daemon never lacked for, was loyalty. Loyalty to both his family, and to the crown. He could have found a way to kill his brother & seize power for himself long ago. Who would have dared try to stop him? But he never did. So any "bastards" in the family that have been legitimized & given a high born name, (as in the case of Rhae's kids) would have been just fine w/Daemon.... so long as they are equally loyal family members in return. Daemon doesn't get all high & mighty about such things, believe me. 😅 lol And the more you find out what psychopaths Aegon & Aemon are... the more you'll WISH they were like Daemon. In fact, I really hated that the show had Daemon killing his 1st wife... because he doesn't do that in the source material. 😒 SMH The show had him killing her to try to make him look more "edgy" I guess... but he never did anything so evil as that in the actual story. So it's truly a shame that they went that route. Oh well...
@@KabbalahSherry Don't let your fangirling over the character obscure your sight. The point of Game of Thrones and all of the Song of Ice and Fire is that there is no clear cut good guy bad guy. Plus, Rhaenyra's three strong boys were never legitimized since the lie concerning them being trueborn Velaryons was never abandoned. If you want to legitimize them you have to first admit they are born out of wedlock and Rhaenyra can't do that since it would cause the lords of the Seven Kingdoms and all commonfolk to refuse her as queen. Daemon offing his wife might've never been mentionned in the books, but so is Aegon and the serving girl, doesn't mean they both aren't morally bankrupt characters who do what THEY think is right.
@@KabbalahSherry actually the book didn't say how she fell from her horse,it could've been daemon all the way so I think the makers of the show giving us some added info that's it imo.
@@KabbalahSherry Haha.. You truly are deluded. Deamon literally does the worst thing in the whole dance of the dragons story. He is possibly rivaled only by Aemond in the "questionable" acts that he does..

I'm going to miss Viserys on the show. He may not have been the king the audience wanted him to be and he has his fair share of parts he played in the war to come but he really was the glue that held everyone together and one of the truly decent people in this whole story. I'm truly wondering who will be that sort of emotional anchor moving forward because things only get nasty from here. In the chat I noticed people saying Alicent is twisting Viserys' words but I feel like she could just.... outright lie if she wanted Aegon to be king that badly. This episode pretty much showed that she was 1. Sick of Aegon's shit 2. Accepting of Rhaenyra's claim in the way that Rhaenys finally accepted things as Viserys got out of his lteral death bed to reaffirm things for Luke and by extension Jace and Rhaenyra's claim. I think the moment would be wasted if Alicent didn't genuinely think that.
@@thestarsturn - She's not THAT religious, trust & believe. 🙄 It's a nice cover that she puts on for people... but there is plenty that she turns a blind eye to, in order to seize power from the Targaryans. Showed they respect him and he posed himself as a good father figure for them when they had two dads who didn’t see them grow into teens and adults.

The bar’s getting full !!!!!
That dinner scene had me pretty shook up. I wasn't expecting it to be so good and so emotional. Paddy played a man in agony better than any other I have ever seen.

@@TheJunmengo- THISSS 🙄 The Greens are so treacherous. They've been waiting for that man to die, so they can finally do what they've always wanted to. I hate that the show makes it seem as if it was all just some innocent misunderstanding on Alicent's part. Nah, they've been plotting for YEARS to take the throne ffs. Alicent is so triflin!
To Rhaenyra

They could be traitorous and cruel as much as they want and I would still root for them and defend them, as long as they manage to ruin the entirety of house Targaryen by self destructing.

@@KabbalahSherry Lol What an unnecessary comment. Do you think Daemond killing his wife was the last bad thing he'll do? Do you think Rhaenyra and Daemon killing that innocent guard will be the last bad thing they do? all characters will do bad things from now on it's gonna get harder and harder to support each side.
Paddy will be missed!!! What a legend!
Viserys' face rotting from the side where the hightowers sit and his good eye from the side where rhaenyra and daemon and their family sit, is such sad and strong symbolism
Omg I didn’t realise that 😮
good observation
I dare you to say STRONG again
@@serendipity3388 the symbolism continues during the episode when rhaenyra goes to talk to him in bed and sits next to his good face, at the end also when alicent is on the bad side
This is the last time they spoke as friends.

7:49 that was a nice sync with the sound of the cup between both the bar and the show haha
Exactly
Perfect
She asked a few times “our son Aegon?”
She is smart, she knows that Viserys was not referring to that drunk buffoon. I think she may understand that was a Rhaenyra thing and only use those words to her own goals. She twisted his final wish
Is it totally bad I smiled when Otto actually looked like he was having fun? 😂 😂. He did that cute little finger clap. 😂
I did, too. I was surprised to see him so genuinly smile.
On this day, Paddy Considine’s Viserys took his rightful place in the Hall of Legends.
That guy in the corner clapping his hands was ME IRL as this scene went down. Also the guy going nuts fiddling with his hat was hilarious. GoT is just on another level.
This episode had me in tears when Viserys spoke 😭 😢
13:14 when the camera cuts to Rhaenyra just out of focus you can see Daemon reacting to Aemond fisting the table: “OMG I’ve been waiting for this magnificent 1-eyed sigma to go off all night!”
Aye I just noticed that after rewatching the scene.
@@luisjosp5 I’ve never seen him more in love 😆
HIs performance in this episode literally brings me to tears. i dunno why
We all know Daemon can’t be mad because he would’ve done the same thing in Aemond’s shoes
😅 lol
And the more you find out what psychopaths Aegon & Aemon are... the more you'll WISH they were like Daemon. In fact, I really hated that the show had Daemon killing his 1st wife... because he doesn't do that in the source material. 😒 SMH
The show had him killing her to try to make him look more "edgy" I guess... but he never did anything so evil as that in the actual story.

Paddy and Sean bean are my favourite actors in the shows and sadly their roles were both contained to the introduction portions of the stories. Paddys performance moved me, just incredible. Now that the king is dead the dance of dragons officially begins.

Episode 8 got a solid 9.5/10 ( Well Deserved ).. I never thought this series could break my heart 💔 The walk of the King to the throne to protect his daughter even in his worst health condition was… I’m speechless
Viserys just wanted to build his models.
totally, and it’s also important to note that she’s a deeply religious person and them, more than most, will read into a prophecy.
@@thestarsturn - She's not THAT religious, trust & believe. 🙄 It's a nice cover that she puts on for people... but there is plenty that she turns a blind eye to, in order to seize power from the Targaryans.
