Sideshow won this battle pretty easy. The XM Spider-Man looks like a shiny plastic toy. I wouldn't pay $150 for the XM.
They both so dang good looking Damn one is going for the gritty realistic look the other is my nostalgic ps1 Spider-Man
I'm not sure how they compare in person but just on your video sideshow's looks head and shoulders better than XM's. Between price and shipping, SS easily wins IMO.
Important to note the 2 types of collectors: ones that keep their statues FOREVER vs ones that buy & resell

They're both absolutely amazing. Sideshow wins for me overall. Agreed with everything but the resale value because I wouldn't be reselling it down the road haha.

This is one of your best videos to date - high energy, fast paced, lots of valuable information. Love it man.
XM just slightly edges out SS for me. At the end of the day it comes down to the paint - SS has lots of shading going on which I do like, but I think it’s overdone and makes spidey look darker than he should. It’s close though and I do think both are very nice. I do think the poses are different enough, I highly doubt SS intended to copy or take heavy inspiration from XM.

The paint on Sideshow is so dull and muted though
@@markjanssens1658 XM is too flashy and cartoony. Sideshow is subdue and bit realistic. In a battle I'll go with dull and mute. Make yourself a hard target. Stay Minty Fresh!👍

I too also like the side show better because I don’t have A lot of room for statues so having a small footprint is key for me.

Overall I agree with you. I like the XM better it just looks more realistic to me. It was close for me, they are both really well made.

Another flawless I interview . For Spider-Man I am forever loyal to the Aurora Model of Spider-Man (on staircase rails) and Kraven from 1974; it represents the East Side of Buffalo and has a piece of my soul.
After a long day but fun day at work( Elem. Art teacher) it’s cool to turn on my phone and see these epic Spiderman statues on display. Lol

The comparison review is awesome. It's cool the way you do it . It was straight forward and you even out the difference between the two. But I do like the slideshow peace better.
My vote goes to the Sideshow piece for the paint job.
Bout to make my first Premium Format purchase. Every time I think about getting a statue, I purchase a bunch of hot toys instead. Not this time. Favorite characters are Spider-Man and Iron Man. Would this SS Spider-Man be a good first pick up? Or should I wait for that new Iron Man VII Marquette? Could also consider that Gambit.
awesome comparison video and i agree...pose XM wins but not that much since SS one is good already...but paint work and sculpt SS is better.
most of the time SS's statues have more depth in term of paint work and sculpt than XM's...not to mention Sideshow pieces are display "friendly".
I like the Sideshow Spidey better too.
i dont know why but i like the sideshow piece way more, like the use of contrast and the suit looks way more natural. In overall it looks more natural .
AND THAT POSE, He is climbing a way out of his misery to came in clutch afterward , just like we know spidy

Sideshow has had the Disney marvel license for years before XM and this was teased by sideshow about 18weeks before XM announced there's.

Agreed 100%. I like XM pieces and have two of them so far, but I definitely preferred the Sideshow Spidey and ended up purchasing it.

Both are great. The XM is more fun and would look great in a casual space like a game/play room or mancave, the SS is much more sophisticated and realistic looking and could be displayed in an office or study.
The investor in me would buy the XM, the artist in me would buy the SS. It's very close, but I have to give it to SS. The SS would be much more of a conversation piece in my opinion, where as the XM looks more like a toy.
When it comes to statues, I always have a preference for realism. They command more respect when they look that way.
Ss is nice but XM is way better imp, Xm tells a better story though there design. I’m glad it’s going to be giving away because it’s the better of the two & I hope I win it. Keep up the good content

It's funny.I would award almost every category(except paint) to the opposite statue.
Its official like a ref wit a whistle. It all came down to paint for me. Sideshow got it. The XM is too glossy
I was thinking sideshow looked better when the video started and then the way the review was going I was thinking you were going to go with XM so I'm glad to know that I picked the right one.
@2:06 it’s not but point taken as it did take about 4 years to sell out given the huge ES. SS should’ve priced this new Spidey to be $600 shipped to your door. It’d be more competitive in that price range.
Have to disagree on this one. The pose on SS looks too outstretched, I hate the neck seams and XMs really tells a story and the engineering is top shelf. I prefer XM all the way.

The sideshow sculpt and paint are better, especially the portraits, and those are the most important factors, imo. My opinion might change if I were to win the giveaway though... lol.

Both pieces r dope but I think the sideshow 1 is better. If I had 2 choose which 1 2 buy it would definitely b the ss. I think the paint job is better quality. But still a fan of the xm piece also

Totally agree. XM's Spidey is cool, but Sideshow did an awesome job with the sculpt and paint, it's so deep and beautiful
I 100% agree that both piece's have strong points. The sideshow piece for the win for me. It just better executed overall. I think the XM piece was a little too ambitious and XM had to constantly keep making changes, but in all fairness they did deliver a better version of that concept back in 2017

for me its the XM one that is the best looking one, love the scene around him and the spider man himself looks more like the ones in the comics. also prepair the mcfarlane head on the sideshow piece, looks more OG spidy :D

How is the size? On the video looks slightly bigger than the XM Spidey! Is it only because of the stretched out pose?
My first impression is the XM looks more Ultimate Spidey (teen spidey) and the SS looks more silverage spidey (mature). Having them side by side XM actually looks to be a smaller scale spidey.

Sideshow needs to seriously brighten up their paint. Nice sculpt. Horrible dull and muted paint work. For comic-inspired it should be bright and bold

I like the sideshow piece because Spider-Man is the focal point of the statue you can see him in all angles. The xm piece feels as if the base is the focal point and Spider-Man is a side accessory.
First time I really disagree, XM wins every category for me.... we buy what we like! :)
