I've owned both. Bowrider was more agile and easier to dock. Deck boat steers like an aircraft carrier but it has tons more room for the family. Our deck boat has the rear seat that folds out to a sunpad. I had a wake tower on both.
Very good info but the ppbutt doesn't work if it exceeds the manufacturers passenger capacity label. Coast guard will get you if you exceed that regardless of how many seats you have.

When I think deck boat, I envision a 28' Eliminator Fun-deck with a Teague (825 hp) and an Imco sc drive.

In the bowrider seating chart, you didn't put a number down for the Captain and passenger seat. LOL Also i have a '21 Monterey M-45, would love to hear if you consider that a bowrider or a deckboat.
Wanted an OpenBow, but got a Cuddy at the time. Now I want to go with a deckboat. Cuddy's get small when you have a family.
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon The price, boat condition, features, and lack of avaliability of an open bow at the time made it a good buy. I don't regret it, but we have owned it for 11 years. We have a young kid and we can't invite any friends to come out as it gets crowded. Time for a bigger boat and the wife agrees. Was looking at the Fourwins HD2 line OB or IO, but I don't see it on their site anymore.
as a current Cuddy owner, I have to agree. Would never wanna change it though
I never owned a cuddy but need an area for privacy to go to the bathroom etc. When I look at the Cuddy's on boats they look very small and they make me feel clastrophopic. I have a bow Rider wellcraft 18ft. I guess you have to have a bigger engine also if you want to ski and tube with a cuddy. Anyone with a cuddy have any input on that?
@@emmanuelmeyermeyer1083 a cuddy is extremely highly overated. We never used the porta-potty in it, we only slept in a few nights on two different trips in the decade+ we owned it. At most we used it for changing or storage. Though I still think there is better storage in an open bow and it is more useful. For us there was always a bathroom at a Marina/dock or people go in the water. Also you can get a changing room curtin that can hang from a bimini, if someone needs a little bit of privacy.
Still stuck. We want something tang we can carry friends and family but will be in rivers and
Coastal islands around GA and Florida. Afraid the deck boat won’t be great once we get out of the rivers. Then again, I’ve never owned a boat so going by my internet research

@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon thanks, that was a good video. This brings up another question though. Is a deck boat the same as a dual console? As you can tell I’m new to boating. We’ve rented boats before but want to move into ownership. We rented a deck boat and it was really nice but we were on a lake at the time.
Wanna add that I have taken one of the boat R us courses so not totally ignorant to the rules of the road, channel markers, etc. obviously don’t know it all. Just want to make an informed decision with a the chunk of change we’d be dropping on a “new to us” boat

Deck Boats, Bow Riders & Dual Consoles are similar but deck boats would be the worst of the 3 options for coastal boating and a dual console the best in most situations
