Brenton Pierson thank you for sharing this tip, I have just stumbled upon a vegan ricotta recipe using cooked okara ( ruclips.net/video/DyNFjQaSsaw/видео.html ), and I love Mary’s Test Kitchen okara sea burger patties ( www.marystestkitchen.com/okara-sea-burger/ )
@@carinecampier thanks a lot for sharing the two recipe links - the ricotta cheese looks fantastic! And the fishless fish burgers sound great too! ❤️ I am always on the lookout for more tasty okara recipes, I have a few on my channel too 🙂
Tasted great! My new favorite recipe for soy milk. Used 1 cup of beans. At the end I added enough water to equal 1 quart. Frothed up good in my manual frother for my cappuccino, too!
Nice video. I don't think it's too labor intensive at all. It's alot easier than having a dairy animal is my way of looking at it. ALSO, you can make as much as you want whenever you want. Dry soybeans are ready when you are. I usually make a gallon at a time and freeze half unless I'm making yogurt, then I make two quarts of yogurt and keep a half gallon for drinking. I add sugar and vanilla, too.
way too much beans for that amount of milk. I've been making my own soy milk for years, been trying different ingrediencies to improve the tast. To remove the husk I soak it over night then I drain it and soak it in boiling water from the electric jug with a half a teaspoon of bi-carb and use a potato masher to remove the husk, don't try to crush the beans and then poor the liquid into another container only letting the husks poor out, use a strainer to catch the husk then poor the water back into the beans and repeat until all the husks are gone. rinse with clean water and cook. I love your video's
Yes, I definitely made more of a soy creamer here than milk 😁 Thanks for the tips on de-hulling the beans, I now use a Soyabella soy milk maker and I don't peel the beans anymore, the taste is still pretty good and I find that it saves so much time. I am glad you like my videos! 🙂
Hi, you should do 1 cup of beans to 1.5 lt of water and what I"ve experienced is that the next day after you take the milk out of the fridge tastes even better
It's dangerous to put boiling water in some blenders. The NutriBullet.... “Do not put hot liquids in any of the blending vessels before blending. Start with cool or room temperature ingredients. Heated ingredients can create internal pressure in a sealed blending vessel, which may erupt on opening and cause thermal injury,” the manual states
I agree, a good tip for NutriBullet or any other blenders that don't allow the pressure or air to escape while blending - perhaps pour the boiling water on the beans in a different container first and let it cool down a little before blending and don't overfill the container. Most popular blenders like Thermomix, Vitamix and Blendtec I believe are not hermetically sealed and allow some air to escape while blending. Thank you, I will put this as a note in the description! 👍
@@HealthOrigins It's easier to boil the soaked beans for 10 minutes, check by tasting one bean that the beany taste is gone, boil a few more minutes if not. They will not cook for a long time so, they are good to make soy milk after boiling a short time.
@@HealthOriginsWell! I am so pleased to tell you it's my new favorite recipe. It's actually not too labor intensive at all. The easiest and best tasting of all the soy milk recipes I've tried. Thank you! ❤
@pandorafox3944 these days I skip the removing the skins step, and do just the boiling water to blend and salt added when cooking, the milk still ends up quite neutral, not too beany 🙂
I like making soy milk but I don't cook with soy pulp that often , so it is piling up in my freezer...and to try to think of something to make with it.

I just made this. It doesn't have the verdant taste. A tiny bit of bean flavor but hardly any at all. It doesn't smell like other recipes I've tried. Actually my new favorite. Enjoy!
I tend to find there's a slight beany taste for any soy beans I used so far, but pouring boiling water on the beans and adding salt to the milk before cooking it has definitely helped with the flavour of the soy milk.
Unfortunately homemade plant milks curdle in coffee - try adding sunflower lecitin, that should help. Or use coconut cream from the top of the coconut milk tin, that works in coffee.
Soy milk always has a certain flavour, but if you soak enough, remove the skins, add some salt and cook the milk for at least 15-20 minutes, it should definitely not smell of farts 🙂

With the okara I like to dehydrate it and then grind it and it forms a nice protein packed nutritious flower
That's genius - this way you would have less wet batter for burgers etc. and would need to add less other dry ingredients! ❤️

You can also add it to any of your flatbreads doughs like tortilla or chapati
Great idea! 👍
I did this and I am very happy with the result. Soya milk is not cheap in Bermuda. I enjoyed the labor of love

Does soy milk taste salty?
No, it definitely doesn't taste salty.
This works!!!!
I use to hate homemade soy milk . But this is heaven.
That's amazing, I am so happy for you! ❤️
Does soy milk taste salty
@@yashasyadharsingh7413 little bit but much better:)
I don't think it tastes salty at all, I think it depends how much salt you put in it. I add just a pinch.

Yes, it definitely needed more water! 🙂 Great tip on letting it sit in the fridge for a day 👍
This was my experience. No beans flavor by day three

Hi, your video are so interesting... I love to drink soy milk too... and I get great flavor when I add 1 tbs mung bean 😊
Thank you for the compliment and a tip with mung beans - I might try it next time! 👍
* Will use the mesh strainer for disposing of the skins.
Can't wait to try this. I'll make it tomorrow morning after the beans soak. ❤

FROZEN YOGURT !
How do you remove the smell from soybean milk? Pls Answer
There is a slight smell, but it's hardly noticeable, especially when the milk is cold from the fridge.

Pls for how long will you cook it?
25-30 minutes.
Please can I use any other blender, apart from yours
Yes, of course, any blender should work here 🙂
Thank you for this wonderful video
You're very welcome! 🙂
Maybe had some old soybean that your inner water was dry out, because of storage time

Can you ferment the pulp of the raw beans.
I would recommend cooking the pulp first, otherwise it would not be safe to eat, as it's a raw bean.
i will try with your recipe. good vidio i will make vidio like you also.
Thank you, let me how your milk turns out! 🙂
ok
see this i already make soy milk with your steps. ruclips.net/video/ybRu9dlPN6c/видео.html
Great, how did it taste? 🙂
very good
i have done it the flavour is good,,,,, but its still lumpy when i put it in my coffee it sinks down any idea way ?

I’m curious - why didn’t you make this in your soyabella?
I did not have Soyabella back then 🙂 Plus, not everyone has a soy milk maker, but want to make homemade soy milk that tastes passable.
How do u remove the smell to gud
The smell should dissappear when you cool the milk down in the fridge. Once it's cold, it does not have the beany smell.
Good tips! Isn't this shop soy milk full of chemicals? If so, it's disgusting! There is soy milk, which only consists of soya and water.
Yes, some shop bought milks have lots of added ingredients, you need to look for the one with just beans and water like you say 🙂👍
Please you are too slow
