Bootsy was broke before he joined James Brown's Band and was broke when he left James Brown's Band. But instead of being angry, he found value in the opportunity of just being a member of the band. Bootsy is one humble individual who was destined for greatness!
His stories on Tales from the Tour Bus are amazing!! Between James Brown & George Clinton they are equally hilarious stories. Plus, of course, “the one” just blew me away because I didn’t know about the emphasis on the first of the four beats.
James Brown, Maurice White, George Clinton, Larry Graham & Bootsy Collins are the craziest musicians and sooo much ahead of their time. It looks like they traveled into the future, got back and shared their futuristic ideas on music with the world, which then gave birth to the Soul-RnB-Funk-HipHop music.
Estoy de acuerdo contigo.Creo que todos ellos descendieron de la nave madre...como dijo Glenn:"I think I hear the mothership coming" y nos trajo a esos hombes talentosos.Saludos desde Chile. Keep it On The One☝️🤘
That's how I play when Performing with MY band HITSVILLE REVUE tm(Cover name for Recording Artists 3one2).When I'm playing-whether it be cover songs or ORIGINAL songs-I always think of Bootsy & Jamerson's Motown Recordings...LOTS of 16th notes in between the Quarter Notes to Sycopate & Drive the Groove !
CapAnson12345, what in the hell are talking about? Funk is all about the tighten-up. You want to get mellow then go to Jazz. The Funk spirit causes you to make faces, sweat on the floor, just get ugly with the moves, neck bobbing, finger snapping, leg shaking, and just real dancing. Not all this bed playing on the floor. You can play funk, sing funk, write funk, and grow funk. Wha yu from? Not where are you from? That's what funk is.
The way he explained how James brown creates music that's how Michael used to create music he'd just say to his producers and musicians I hear a sound In my head and the muscians would have to translate.
@@d2ez695 but it was quincy who structured the albums he bought in muscians writers and other producers quincy and Rod temperton were the producers and directors for 2 of MJs 3 most successful album. Story about this bass.... when I was senior in highschool, in Detroit,in 1977, my graduation present was a white Rickenbacker 4001 bass from Gus Zoppi's music store on 8 mile road. Befriended the guitar tech as I was getting things set up etc...one day I walk in the back and he had this slab of unfinished wood with this weird star drawn on it, telling me he's gonna cut it into a bass. A month or so later I go in and it's cut and shaped and had a maple neck , pickup holes drilled out. Finally I go in and it's done, this white star shaped bass ( had bartolini pickups) made for none other than B B B Bootsy. And around a year later, there's Mr Collins on the cover of guitar player magazine, holding that custom masterpiece proudly.
Just because you was not getting paid you hung around with top soul singers and professional musicians look where you are today baba baby baba did I say it rite anyway its Boosie baby 🎸🎼🎵🎶🎤⭐⭐⭐
If you use an Envelope filter with a as much resonance as you like or an Auto wah then you should get the effect. The filter opens with the volume level of each note therefore raising the resonant frequencies being amplified within the sound the more resonance the greater the effect and the louder you play the higher the frequencies being produced. If you've got a zoom pedal then you might have one straight away and if you can learn to play like Bootsy then MMMMMM !!!!!!!
In Funk, EVERYTHING is on the 1! Ironically, he didn't care about getting paid, but he wound up JB's Band because his regular guys quit because they weren't getting paid. I don't Bootsy and his crew lasted a year, then the old band was back.
Can someone tell me how Bootsy is making that hard plucking sound? Is that a Flange effect pedal? Like the Zoom Pedal? He's not plucking but I'm hearing that distortion sound. How do I get that effect? Thanx

He had the Rubber band, but honestly his wealth was in his soul.
i love the things that Bootsy shares about his days with James Brown!!!! PRICELESS!!!!
Funny stories!

A bassist so ahead of his time, he’s gotta have more pickups than strings! 🙂🎸❤️
lol facts!
Teisco had 4pickups! Do you pray ? Do have a reason to pray? My songs r gospel.
Keith, what's ur plans for future any new projects kidd & george can't own my master.

Same feeling when you listen Herbie Hancock Sextant.
It feels recorded in 3456 and then got transfigured in 1973 back
Bootsy is the “soul” reason I started playing bass. Pun intended.

I often find myself dreaming about a jam between Bootsy, Jimi, Bernie, Miles, Denis Chambers and George : can you even imagine this ? ?
I can and will listen to Bootsy tell stories all day long.
Showing so much respect for Mr. JB!

JB is funny genius
James Brown was a genius, the inventor of funk.
I love this man to death. Once U been funked, u ain't ever the same!
Not only very talented also very humble and also very funny
Only Bootsy can sit there and look like that, act like that, and play like that. It's beautifully ridiculous.
To quote the godfather it's all on the one
I love Bootsy the first time I saw Bootsy was in 1978 in Connecticut at the new haven coliseum and I been a fan of the funk every since

Quincy Jones was told by Michael Jackson how to write those albums? 🤔 hmmm...

You gotta understand MJ was the best song and dance man of his time but he was not a gr8 writer or Composer or musician.

Ahhh Bootsy! "Its all about the 'one' baby!"
Bootsy had that sense of humor
One of my top 10 I've been a funkateer since 1976
The coolest bass player of all time. And a Bengals fan. Who Dey
Soul Power on steroids.
The background lights are further proof, if needed, that bootsy Collins is a crystal palace fan
Take it to the one!! Solid!

I have listen a lot of bass player in my life. But i don't know why. Bootsy is unique , and his " groove" is very particular....
True master !!
Gotta love Bootsy!
Funny and interesting Bootsy! Too bad the video isn't longer. He didn't pop or slap once (thank god) and it was funky as hell.
I think he cant slap
I have another piece of the interview on my page. ...
Oh Bootsy can slap his ass off!
Oh Bootsy! ⭐
Moon Patrol, new theme.
Love that star-shaped bass!
Water...funky water
I like the base line men
Maestro!
Bootsy is the man !!! :D
Soul power! Got to get!
Only problem with Bootsy is he's just too wound up.. needs to mellow out a bit.
J adore le personnage et son jeu de basse
That's HIS style though.
Funny... nice video... and we once had a cat... looked like a tiger... had 4 white paws... we called him Bootsy... true story...
Bootsy getting busy
a lot of work could be done to improve midi for guitar also pickups and piezo bridge pickups could use so much improvement
Bootsy was always groovy.
Can you imagine having this man is your uncle. probably be a lot of fun
There will never be another.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sending me here Bootsy.

Only the king...Ehhhhhh
AMENNNNNNN!
Doing your thing cousin 🎩❤️
I want to know what he is saying at 1:47
"It ain't that I am talking about" right?
Instead of Michael saying "that's it son"
He would say "that's the jelly, I like that."
Bass funk...Bootsy Collins ok!!
Can someone tell me how Bootsy is making that hard plucking sound? Is that a Flange effect pedal? Like the Zoom Pedal? He's not plucking but I'm hearing that distortion sound. How do I get that effect? Thanx
