Sir, your low-tech solution to covering the numberplate worked better than some of the software blurring I have seen. I remember traveling in the back of an original model Ka all the way from Hampshire to Birmingham and back. It didn't seem too bad from what I remember, and I am 6'2". But I was 20+ years younger. That 1242cc FIRE Engine again, Mr. Lloyd! It pops up quite a lot on the channel.

Sir, if you can't see it in real life, then I don't think you need worry about trying to blur it out. The Mark I is probably even smaller than this, but I think I got in the one I drove last year for Mr Manning as usual. The 1.2 FIRE engine is literally everywhere....

I Don't think these were as popular as the 500 or the previous generation Ka, but I think I would take them over the 500. An excellent review as always Sir.

Yes, they weren't quite as popular, but they still sold quite a lot of them. Thank you very much indeed for watching and commenting!

Thanks, I enjoyed your review. A mate had the Mk1 in the later 90's (about the time Ford advertised the Black leather edition 'if it had anymore leather it would Moo') He was a late starter to driving and in his words, It just felt good, I must admit ive always held a soft spot for the Mk1 variants too. The analogue clock was the bee's knees of car clocks to me. Now in my middle 70's and getting about isn't so easy your cheap and cheerful review is selling me towards a cost effective run about again. So the Ka could be in the picture along with the Smart 453 Renault engined version circa MY 16/17 Cheers

I drove a Smart Fortwo and a Smart Forfour of that generation in 2023. Both the reviews are on the channel somewhere. Coincidentally, I also drove a Mark I Ka at the beginning of the same year. I would say that one of these might be a better bet.

That's a bit posh, ours is a Studio and has manual everything - you even need to put the key in the boot lid to open the thing 😂
I'd be amazed if you could get a 15 plater for anywhere near a grand mind. We paid £3500 for ours nine years ago now (it's a 13 plate) but it still seems to be worth about £2500-3000... maybe one of the very early ones might be a grand.

Yes, the 2009 Ka I drove in 2023 needed to have the key inserted to open the boot. I think I explained in the video that this was worth a lot more than £1,000, and that it is possible to get an early one for No Budget Reviews money, but it won't be in this sort of condition.

This is still what I think of as a decent small, first car….if you don’t want the Toyota Aygo/C1/107-108 or VW UP/Seat Mii/Skoda citi go.
The ford Ka Mk2 is much nicer I think & better ride & a bit more space than a Fiat 500.
So yes, consider one with the 1.2 petrol. Just be aware of a few potential trouble spots. Also, no automatic option. Back in the day I did wonder about having one in higher spec level, but wouldn’t buy a manual car, so not for me. Again only minor, not seen an external locking fuel cap for a long time.
Absolutely awful small cars are being discontinued…and that folks is why your paying so much for 2nd hand ones.

The Ka most certainly has a better ride and handling balance than the 500 upon which it is based. We covered some of the main issues with them in the video, I think.

Never seen a Diesel KA - I have seen a few Diesel 500's and there is one Diesel C1 that a guy uses for parcel deliveries around here but in general there is no point anyway - at least in this market - as the petrols were so easy on fuel, reliable and the basic design is so universal just stick with that. I have not checked "How Many Left" but if you took all the Diesel KA's, 500's and C1's still on the road in the UK and I doubt you could fill your local McDonalds car park

Well, we don't talk about diesels on this channel, so we don't need to worry about the ones which are powered by forbidden rule round here, do we?

Not as characterful as the original, still a decent little car.

Never liked the look of them. Would be a good first car for many.
