She is an amazing talent. Love this song. I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds sweet memories woven into the angelic voice and mellow country rhythms. I used to travel with my Dad around the US, mostly Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alaska (all over the world to, Russia, Kazakhstan, UAE) Within the US, we'd drive in his 94' Dodge Ram. He bought it brand new, 3 years before I was born. So, in the summer, I'd hop in with him, and we'd travel to the southern states from California. Looking back, those trips were some of the best times I've ever had. Just cruising with my Dad. He loved music, and he'd put on Emmylou Harris, or the Travelling Wilbury's, or Dwight Yoakam, and we'd chat about whatever, I'd usually be asking him questions, and he'd do his best to answer. This is one song I definitely remember. Thanks for the beautiful music and memories Dad. RIP🙏
I feel the same way. If I could have 5-10 minutes of her time, I need to tell her 3 things' (1) Thank you for all of the amazing music, and for being so consistently excellent for so long. (2) Thank you for bridging the generation gap at our house. My Dad didn't like much of anything made after about 1945, and Emmylou Harris was the only artist of that entire generation that he actually liked and respected. My Mom thought she was great too, and that was one thing that we all agreed on when it came to music. (3) The last thing I would say to her is thank you for finding and revitalizing all of the old songs and presenting them to the next generation. In a round about kind of way, Emmylou Harris has been one of my music teachers. It's not every day that you get entertained and educated by the same person. These are just 3 out of thousands of other reasons why Emmylou Harris is an important and influential part of my life. Even today, when I'm watching these videos on the tiny little phone screen, you can probably see all the little red hearts floating around my head.
Ricky was tearin it up on the fiddle on this song.
Ricky Skaggs tearing it up! Graham gave her skills to get it done.

You are beautiful, emmylou! You inspire me, despite my stage fright.
