  • 'The White Feather' joined the Boro on the 4th July 1996 from Juventus for a club record fee. Here's all 32 of the Italian's goals for the Boro during the year he had on Teesside.

I have been a Juventus fan for almost 50 years and Ravanelli was one of my favorite footballers, I followed him a lot even when he moved to the Premier League and I was happy for him that the English fans also appreciated him a lot.

The white feather was a total fitness freak, I remember watching him warm up for matches he was doing things that no one else could even think about then way ahead of his time, he worked his socks off some people said he was selfish and not a team player but he was a striker that's what they do! And had just won the champions League with juve! in the matches and was very outspoken especially about certain players but his bond with Juno and Emerson was fantastic, he loved the boro and it still holds a special place in his heart, 30 plus goals in his first season I can't remember any other foreign player who's ever achieved that in his first season in premier League! He's up there with the best

He didn’t love the Boro, at all. He constantly criticised the facilities, the quality of his team
mates and Middlesbrough it’s self. He couldn’t wait to leave.

Neither was Vieri when left for Spain. Later when he came to Italy he was considered top5 striker. Zidane left Juventus as a failure as well, next season with Nedved winning the golden ball and Davids Juve was outstanding. Italy was a bit of a strange place to be at the time. Seedorf came to Inter and was labelled a failure, only to win everything with Milan the next few years.

@@michiferrucci ... is it possible that you are too young to remember and you are confusing your idea of Zidane _now_ compared to _then_ ?
      Here are some hints:
      - Juventus ended up the season 7th that year
      - Nedved was the best player in Europe next year
      - Agnelli's quote on Zizu: "Zidane e' piu divertente che utile"
And truth to be told the next few years sure looked like he was correct. Nedved was taking over games with 1 play consistently.
