The colony lifestyle is SOO much better for young moms. Having the support of a mother's helper and the community kitchen, while recovering from giving birth is so much healthier for her and the rest of the family. In society moms have so much stress on them to find childcare, pay for it, juggle who is transporting children to and from, at what times on what days, to meet employers expectations for work schedule. It is incredibly more efficient and low-stress the way the colony does this.
That is true but the giving back part is also equally important. They all help one another and are in complete sequence in all they do,I absolutely love Gisele s community and how they all work to help each other.
Your vlogs are a gift from God. I lead a simple life with my husband and his father. I cook, clean, garden tomatoes and flowers. Too many women think it's not important to take care of your family, cook, clean, sew and garden. Your vlogs make me feel like my joy in doing these things is shared. My heart is so full of Christ love and share Him with anyone who will listen. ✝️

I couldn't agree more! Isnt it funny how this young lady can bring a person so much peace just by posting a video every once in awhile. She gives us a window to peek through to show us how it's supposed to be. I live in southern MB, so I have been familiar with Hutterites all my life. I grew up on Hutterite chickens! Now we visit local colonies on farmer’s market days and of course everything is fresh and delicious. These vlogs are wonderful, thanks for sharing!
This vlog made me feel very relaxed this morning. I know that there was work going on at the colony and there's work that I need to do. But listening to the music and the voices of children made me feel very calm and collected. Thank you so much

Wonderful band, glad you were able to enjoy their music! Beet leaves are perfect right now for cabbage rolls. My mom has always made the beet leaf “cabbage rolls every year, they are delicious with a cream sauce. It’s a Ukrainian dish and perhaps other cultures make them as well. I live on a farm and our indoor dogs race outside to hunt every time the door opens (they have even been successful this summer!).

I love the singing - so many songs from my childhood and so many of my mother's favourites that I used to play on the piano for her. How old was the little boy you looked after. I loved seeing his little chubby feet splashing in the cool water. It made me remember those days with my own children, now long grown up with little ones of their own

Giselle, I truly find your vlogs so interesting and brings back memories of my childhood. My parents raised all of our food. I helped with the harvesting and washing and sterilizing the canning jars and the rings. I think shredding the cabbage for coleslaw was the messiest lol. I love anything pickled. My mom would pickle the stalk of the heads of the cabbage for me. I would be there standing and waiting when she would be opening the jar of sauerkraut. Do you pickle corn and green beans? I truly miss this type of life. Its just myself now, and I don't eat enough to cook or prepare meals. I can get by with eating a piece of cheese and a slice of bread. My sons and husband have all passed away. Thank you again for sharing your amazing life.

If you are looking for a great, refreshing snack while the cucumbers are perfect, slice them up and pat them dry to remove excess water. Then allow them to chill in the refrigerator until cooled. Toss with a raspberry vinaigrette and add a sprinkle of salt. This is one of my favorite snacks. It’s so cool and refreshing. The only part of the cucumber that I am really not a fan of is the seeds, because they get really moist and slimy, so I like to use the small pickling cucumbers and tiny seedless snacking cucumbers for this. I can go through a dozen of the tiny ones in one setting and not feel guilty about it because it is such a lightweight and healthy snack option.

I want to thank you for sharing your devotional book name with me. I hate going for mass ( I am Catholic). I prefer going when the church is empty and praying quietly. I would prefer to say I like talking to God. And this book helps people like me. It helps me understand what the Bible says and talk to God about what I read. I have a lot of problems in my life. When I read this book I find strength . I feel at peace. I feel there is somebody(God) to help me . It explains more to me than what the priest says during sermon. it was all the rain that we got, so many colonies are already eating fresh veggies and we have just started with beets, they are always the first thing that is ready, for us anyway :)
Hi Giselle, have you ever tried a cucumber sandwich? Between 2 slices of bread place slice cucumber, mayonnaise, salt, pepper. So yummy!!!🤗👍 I do the same thing with a tomato!😋
How come when anyone gets to go on a trip somewhere, you never seem to go as well. Nice to have a concert. My zucchini (courgettes) are just starting to produce. Next week I will have far too many. I pick them much smaller. But I am struggling with deer eating the plants, never had that problem before. And since it is dry, the moles are causing problems because they home in on where the plants are being watered. And they dig up the plants. My former plot neighbour was the queen of the pickling cucumbers (we call them gherkins). She was Polish so used an old Polish recipe to pickle them.
we are having problems with deer this year too, there are so many more here this year and it's a problem we had to gather all our lettuce because they were after it. hmm sometimes I go but it's difficult for me if I know there are going to be big crowds, I was happy that my brother encouraged me to go along this time :)
@@gisellewaldner9406 I do not like crowds of people either. I hardly ever go shopping now. Because of the covid I started having everything delivered, and now do not see any point in stopping. I also found that I was using my eyes for balance rather than my ears. So a lot of people around gives me panic attacks because all the points of reference for balance are moving. I had to retrain my ears to do the work by walking holding a trolley and closing my eyes. Try closing your eyes and standing on one leg, do you wobble?
I’m so sorry you had to revamp your channel. It seems these things happen. I would love to know your secret for zucchini. I can not seem to grow it. I won’t give up I will keep trying, this year I bought my plants from the Amish. They came on strong but grew like green pencils. Them died and turned yellow.maybe with the rain we are getting tonight it will be better. I can hope. I love the song you have playing in the background. Where do I go. You have played it before. Very nice. Thank you for your video. I always enjoy them.
@@gisellewaldner9406 A Q & A with your gardener would be wonderful. I would ask if he has ever grown Trombocino Zucchini. It is incredible. I got one accidentally last year (while buying regular zucchini plants). The vines shoot out 30 feet in each direction and the fruit is 2 - 3 feet long, weighing 8 pounds! So I found some delicious receipes and planted more this year!

poor Kona is unsuccessful so far even when we go for walks she is sometimes close but not close enough

If you are looking for a great, refreshing snack while the cucumbers are perfect, slice them up and pat them dry to remove excess water. Then allow them to chill in the refrigerator until cooled. Toss with a raspberry vinaigrette and add a sprinkle of salt. This is one of my favorite snacks. It’s so cool and refreshing. The only part of the cucumber that I am really not a fan of is the seeds, because they get really moist and slimy, so I like to use the small pickling cucumbers and tiny seedless snacking cucumbers for this. I can go through a dozen of the tiny ones in one setting and not feel guilty about it because it is such a lightweight and healthy snack option.

I want to thank you for sharing your devotional book name with me. I hate going for mass ( I am Catholic). I prefer going when the church is empty and praying quietly. I would prefer to say I like talking to God. And this book helps people like me. It helps me understand what the Bible says and talk to God about what I read. I have a lot of problems in my life. When I read this book I find strength . I feel at peace. I feel there is somebody(God) to help me . It explains more to me than what the priest says during sermon. Thank you so so so so much for this book

it was all the rain that we got, so many colonies are already eating fresh veggies and we have just started with beets, they are always the first thing that is ready, for us anyway :)
Hi Giselle, have you ever tried a cucumber sandwich? Between 2 slices of bread place slice cucumber, mayonnaise, salt, pepper. So yummy!!!🤗👍 I do the same thing with a tomato!😋

My zucchini (courgettes) are just starting to produce. Next week I will have far too many. I pick them much smaller. But I am struggling with deer eating the plants, never had that problem before. And since it is dry, the moles are causing problems because they home in on where the plants are being watered. And they dig up the plants.
My former plot neighbour was the queen of the pickling cucumbers (we call them gherkins). She was Polish so used an old Polish recipe to pickle them.
we are having problems with deer this year too, there are so many more here this year and it's a problem we had to gather all our lettuce because they were after it.
hmm sometimes I go but it's difficult for me if I know there are going to be big crowds, I was happy that my brother encouraged me to go along this time :)
@@gisellewaldner9406 I do not like crowds of people either. I hardly ever go shopping now. Because of the covid I started having everything delivered, and now do not see any point in stopping. I also found that I was using my eyes for balance rather than my ears. So a lot of people around gives me panic attacks because all the points of reference for balance are moving.
I had to retrain my ears to do the work by walking holding a trolley and closing my eyes. Try closing your eyes and standing on one leg, do you wobble?

I’m so sorry you had to revamp your channel. It seems these things happen. I would love to know your secret for zucchini. I can not seem to grow it. I won’t give up I will keep trying, this year I bought my plants from the Amish. They came on strong but grew like green pencils. Them died and turned yellow.maybe with the rain we are getting tonight it will be better. I can hope. I love the song you have playing in the background. Where do I go. You have played it before. Very nice. Thank you for your video. I always enjoy them.
I will ask our gardener and you know what I'll try to get him on a video I know he doesn't mind but I have to catch him when he's not busy :)
@@gisellewaldner9406 A Q & A with your gardener would be wonderful. I would ask if he has ever grown Trombocino Zucchini. It is incredible. I got one accidentally last year (while buying regular zucchini plants). The vines shoot out 30 feet in each direction and the fruit is 2 - 3 feet long, weighing 8 pounds! So I found some delicious receipes and planted more this year!
