- It was a glorious three days and just editing this vlog got me seriously nostalgic to be back in the blueberry patch or even on a paddle board.
just in case, I did do a VoiceOver twice in the vlog, it does sound like I have a cold but it's just the effect that I added.

Giselle, you and your friends were doing work when picking blueberries and yet you also had fun. You were smiling, laughing and enjoying the companionship of your friends. It seemed as though worry and frustration was lifted from everyone. We all need these little breaks from our daily routines. Thank you for bringing us along.

By the end of the vlog I realized I had a smile frozen on my face. Best one yet and please thank your friends for including us on y'alls trip. I understand how important privacy is to some so its that much more special to be brought along on such a fun looking trip. Ps the drink at the end looked so refreshing.

A thank you to you and the girls for sharing your blueberry picking trip! The berries are so bountiful, so glad there was lots to pick. It’s so rare these days to see people enjoying themselves while they work and relax in such a natural environment. This is my favourite video (and the one 2 years ago). When done with friends it's fellowship, not work. Well sometimes it can be work. The camping though makes it a vacation. I really enjoy camping and your vlog brought back so many wonderful memories. I'm happy for you all that the blueberries were so plentiful. Joy, work, joy, eat, joy, sleep, and it starts all over again the next day! Wonderful!

Thank you for this video, it looked like a lot of fun! We don't have blueberries growing wild in the UK but we have bilberries which are quite similar but much smaller and very juicy.
I have never heard of them before, now i'm wondering if they taste the same 🤔
I'm in the UK and I sooo wish we had wild blueberries 🫐, the closest I get is picking my own out of the garden.
@@gisellewaldner9406 It's a long time since I had bilberries so I can't remember very well but I would use them in recipes in place of blueberries but they're not usually eaten raw. They grow on bushes that look very similar to blueberry bushes and they're picked in the same way. They grow in high places, on the top of hills.

I also smiled throughout this entire video. Helpful hint from a former swim instructor, for water in your ear. A couple of drops of rubbing alcohol, tip your head let it drain and the rest will evaporate. Hugs from Olympia,WA
As a child growing up in BC we used to pick wild blueberries on Grouse Mountain. What delicious buns, pies and jam my Mom made.
See, I told you they were big, beautiful blueberries. I'm not surprised it didn't take long to pick. And a big, BIG thank you to the other diene (?😊) for sharing this experience. I know it's hard to expose yourself to the world. It can be cruel at times, but there is also so much love and I find that this community you have on RUclips is full of love, compassion, understanding, will to learn and acceptance. What a beautiful vlog! I loved it. It amazes me to think you drove so close to my home. I have always wanted to go to Rushing River, it looks so beautiful and now I would like to go there even more. This past week our neighbor was harvesting her garlic field, so many people from the area went to help her, it reminded me of your vlogs, so many working together for the common good. I pray God will continue to bless you with creativity, strength and endurance to keep blessing those around you and beyond.

Wow - what fun! I live in MN and we have lots of blueberries and I just love them. I have never seen a blueberry picker before - who knew? I just love your videos - they remind me a lot of where I live, but with a twist :)
those pickers are the best thing so much faster, it's only our second time using them and it makes a huge difference :)
Blueberries are late up there in Northwestern Ontario. We picked the first week of August in Southeastern Ontario, about an hour North from our home in Ottawa. I really wish I could enjoy them, but I’m allergic to them, found out the hard way years ago. Glad to see you gals having fun while enjoying camping.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful trip! I am curious about the clothing standards when you are away. I noticed that many were not dressed as traditionally as usual. I saw t-shirts, some people not wearing head coverings, not wearing the blouse. Just curious as to what the rules are when you are away from the colony. Thank you!

I know from your previous video you haven’t been having the easiest time and some haven’t really been on board with your vlogs. I just wanted to say that I enjoy your vlogs. I enjoy learning about the Hutterite way of life; your videos are uplifting and happy. You may have some opposition in what you do and I’m sorry you face that, but we, all of us who watch your videos thank you for your content. There is a lot of negativity and just plain lousy stuff out there, it’s refreshing and nice to see content that uplifts. Thank you for sharing your world with us. I hope the people who object have a change of heart as you have a positive effect on others and I for one appreciate what you share.

Friends of mine had to go to Canada a few weeks ago. (Family emergency).
I went round to water a few plants as here just north of London UK we had not had rain for months.
They have 6 blueberry plants in pots and told me to pick the berries.
Enough to make a delicious smoothie every other day.

It looks like you all had an amazing trip! Camping is awesome. I have camped my whole life and have so many good memories. Don't worry about being an over packer! I am a super over packer because it's better to have too much than not enough. I pack a big suitcase just for a weekend lol
That makes me feel better, i packed things that i didn't use at all 🤭
@@gisellewaldner9406 My sister is also an over packer. She once packed a hairdryer and straightners for a cycling , camping trip.She never found that special tree with built in power socket, but her hair looked beautiful in its natural waves.we had a great time.
Then you can loan to the underpackers who need more clothes!
@@gretatheotherone4686 Yes definitely! That has happened to me but then I usually never get the item back because sometimes I tell them to just keep it if they like it. If I have packed enough for a week or more but it's only for a 3 day trip, clearly I can spare a couple things lol

My family has camped many times at Rushing River. So beautiful with the rocks and pine trees.Are you camped on another colony's property or a family camp? Wow the blueberries were so plentiful. I didn't even knew they grew wild in that area. Where I live we pick Saskatoon and chokecherries. I'm sure the colony back home will enjoy them.

I’m so pleased you had a break and had fun. I have a disciplined life like you do being a teacher and it is good to be beside the still waters at times so to speak. The fellowship fun and friendship you have with those girls is so precious. I’m closer to 60 now but seeing you altogether reminded me of church holidays of my youth. Thank you for sharing it, we have so many blessings knowing Christ, the altogether lovely One I love the choruses, He is present in our praises. Thank you ☺️ you a bright light in many of our lives.

In the 1980s I used to ride my moped out here to the farm to pick blueberries in summer. My moped only went 30 mph top speed. It took me 2 hours to get out here. I used to leave at 5 Pm after work. I'd pick blueberries for 2 hours, till 9 PM then head back home, which took another 2 hours (one ice cream pail full). I'd get home at midnight. My dad was phoning people who lived along the road, asking if they'd seen me go by. Silly me, I could have camped here overnight and went back early in the morning and still gotten to work on time, because I started work at the job I had at 10 AM. But that thought didn't occur to me. Needless to say, the next day at work I was sneezing all day. In my 20's and 30's I used to sneeze all the time during blueberry season. I've since grown out of that. There are only a few blueberries here where I live now.

When I was a little kid, we used to go blueberry picking. An old man used to drive us out to a pine forest.
The adults used to pick big pails full but us little kids mostly ate our fill and only had to fill a small pail. Then we used to play "I spy" to entertain ourselves. My dad told me years later that he left a radio going, partly to keep bears away.
Well, I just had to tell that little story, because Story happens to be my last name. When I was a little kid in elementary school, some of the other kids used to say to me, "Story, tell us a story".

A while ago I saw a video of a man here in the uk who was going to walk end to end of the uk. One day he looked out of his tent and was musing that he missed his usual favourite blueberries. He glanced over and saw some growing wild! 😁🌸 he ate some and it gave him the boost in spirit he needed. Anyone wondering the uk isn’t very long, it’s no mean feat of course, but for someone healthy and with the gumption it’s do able. I prefer the train 🤣
It's always just nice to get away for a few days from daily life. A little change of scenery is a wonderful thing. The blueberries looked fabulous and you had a wonderful time with your friends. Laughter is like a good medicine.
This was my favorite video. I loved the intro, I loved the editing, I loved the camaraderie, I loved the fact that you showed strong women coming together and working together. But, I have to say that when you guys were picking blueberries all I could think about was snakes. I’m deathly phobic of snakes from growing up in Alabama where we have 13 varieties of poisonous snakes (not including non poisonous snakes). I recently came across your channel and immediately had to subscribe. Please keep them coming and sharing your community with us.

What a blessed trip for all of you. I am so glad you got the chance to go on this trip. Just north of me here in N.Y. Now you will have to put the blueberries up if they made the trip back home.
