- a cook week + a bake week + baptism + our first greenhouse day whew!! it was a fully loaded two weeks, they passed like a blur here one minute and gone the next, I did enjoy it.
if you prefer it when I combine those two weeks into one let me know.
Note:
I know the recipes are HUGE, but making them smaller is not my strong suit and I don't want to risk making a mistake and you ending up with a mess when you try to recreate the recipes.

overnight cherry danish: 5:04

Korean beef: 15:02
35 lbs beef over medium high heat, brown meat.
with diced onions and a little salt.
Sauce:
5 cups BROWN SUGAR
4 cups SOY SAUCE
9 cups BROTH
2 cups SESAME OIL
9 tbsp MINCED GARUC
10 tbsp MINCED GINGER
4 tsp RED PEPPER FLAKES
+2 CUPS COLD BROTH
1/2 CUPS STARCH
Pour Sauce over meat and let simmer until flavourful.
note: to make gluten free omit soya sauce and add salt or broth
serve with rice noodles or rice.
note: I totally omit the sugar, I don't even add a replacement.
EDO BOWL: 13:54
Marinate pork loin meat:
1 cup brown Sugar
2 tbsp black pepper
3 tbsp Salt
1 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp Seasoning Salt
2 Cups Soya Sauce
1 lemon
1 cup Worcestershire Sauce
Sauce for bowl:
1 cup Soya Sauce
1 cup teriyaki
3/4 cup Water
Sugar or honey to taste
Pizza Pops: 18:46
6 lbs salami
6 lbs pepperoni
3/4 cup oregano
4 qts canned tomatoes (drained)
10 lbs mozzarella cheese (shredded)
3 tbsp. chili powder
4 tsp salt
4 tsp pepper
4 tbsp dried parsley
1/2 cup brown sugar
Cut up meat in small pieces.. Add well drained tomatoes and spices.
for the Dough:
6 cups milk
6 cups water
2 tbsp salt
26 cups flour
Note: we sometimes also use the store bought egg roll wrappers instead of the homemade dough.
Licorice Delight: 21:10
20 cups cream cheese
15 cups sour cream
20 cups whipped cream
10 cups icing sugar
1½ tsp anise extract
6½ cups Australian licorice pieces
Beat cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Add icing sugar and extract. Fold in whipped cream and licorice.
Garnish with licorice caramel.
Licorice Caramel:
6 cups sugar
9 cups heavy cream
4 cups corn syrup
9 tsp anise extract
Black food coloring
Cook first 3 ingredients for about 2 hours or until thickened.
Add anise extract when ready and salt to taste. Use charcoal for color
For 130 people.

As a Mennonite we don't bake for our mennonite community. We all have our own homes and farms. We bake for our only husband and kids and we are in our home. The only time we cook and bake for our mennonite community is after church we have one month in each home and when there is a wedding or a funeral. Next weekend me and my three daughters have to start making bread to put in our freezer that we use for bread. My Amish husband says that Amish cook and bake for their family too.the only time that Amish cook and bake is after church and when there are weddings and funerals. When all the females of the Amish community came together.
Um hmmm me too as mennonite :) I've often asked our church if we could do this here and there...like massive canning and butchering together. For everyone ! But I suppose there's often plenty of children to help with that

Taste of Home has the best recipes. When I was a kid, I always looked forward to getting the magazines so I could make all the recipes. I still have a huge collection of them that I get most of my recipes from.

Do you have certain responsibilities or privileges now as a baptized member of your colony? If I remember correctly you have to be baptized to be able to get married. Anything else?

I can honestly say these buns are so very good. I was lucky enough to be able to have Hutterite made buns at my wedding reception.
