Solo lane was fun before the implementation of extra base health and prots across all classes in 9.5. It was made even less fun when they removed hybrid items. Hybrid items were core for solo laners because they allowed them to have back line kill potential without being too squishy. In modern smite, you either build to do damage, or you play to be a second support.
I'm a person who plays assassins and guardians in solo (people don't think I deserve rights or opinions since one of my favorite gods to play in solo is Artio) It feels like if I go any warrior that's not like... Amaterasu, Bellona, or Sun Wukong, I lose lane unless I somehow snowball. I also get either spam ganged by junglers or get randomly four man rotated on before the ten minute mark because the other lanes are suffering. These teleporters they added also do not help this problem at all.
I feel like Smite just has a problem with over-generalizing roles. Like, the mage solo meta was frustrating but it was mainly because getting put against a mage was immediately a loss. If it was more, picking a mage is a weird pick but still works, it'd be a lot better. So they apply nerfs to push mages back out of solo lane, instead of introducing hybrid options for warriors
I play a lot of solo lane but the only reason why I do is because I try a lot of experimenting to try to enjoy the experience a bit more. I agree that warriors are a bit boring and sitting in lane trying to stay ahead for 20 minutes isn’t the most fun gameplay in the world.
The points you brought up were totally valid and I agree with them all, but funnily enough my biggest gripe with the solo lane is warriors in general. I don't like playing ANY warriors except for ones that I enjoy in the jungle (Nike, Mulan), and ones that I enjoy as support (Horus). I don't know if I fundamentally don't understand how to play them, or build them, but I only enjoy the solo lane when I'm playing something "off-meta", which just gets me flamed (rightfully so) as we now often lack a second tank and/or frontline.
The shield changes and removal of Nemian Lion had a really bad effect on solo imo. Mulan only feels good at the moment because she has a lot of base damage and spammable abilities in her kit that give her a leg up, but that isn't the case with most warriors who live or die based on builds.
You also build a full damage guardian and they have some natural bulk to them meanwhile you build a full damage warrior and you have essentially a slightly tanky assassin that does way less damage
I don't think the snowball is a problem at all, if you're getting rolled it's a team game your jungle is supposed to help and be quick about it or don't get rolled, if you don't die you're not far behind in farm and most of the time ahead everyone else on your team. The farm, solo lane is the only lane that gets their own waves solo probably has the most overall farm. I haven't had any problems rotating and being a nuisance but I also only really play meta picks. Lastly my own thought on the reason solo lane is frowned upon are damage dealers have complained the role into the ground. In my opinion a solo laner should be able to win a 1v1 against anyone other than another solo laner. The whole purpose of the role is to be a God amongst men and 1v5 or die trying, but damage dealers said that they're too strong and tanks op. IMO the map should be wider on the solo lane side to discourage ganks and solo laners should have a permanent tp spot for mobility
Recently got back into Smite and gotta say, Solo lane sucks when you’re out matched. If the enemy steamrolls you, it’s likely the jungler will abandon your lane in favor of the winnable ones. Then when eventually your lane falls you’ve unleashed a monster into the game. The only thing I can do is play defensively in the lane to keep them occupied so they don’t roam. BORING.
If anything I think the bounty system makes solo worse. It forces you to sit in lane and try to farm the other solo cause if you try to rotate and die for the enemy get a huge chunk of gold. I think they should take away farm from other roles so solo has a lot more farm like it did in the past. It used to be that Solo would come out of lane with 2-4 level lead over the other roles and just 1V3 the enemy team if they didn't have their solo. Off role doesn't work now cause every game goes late and has so much anti-snowball. Also ADC/Hunters are always cry about every time their items get balance and cry any time tanks can counter build. I miss Hide of the Nemean lion as well. I like the idea of them making attack speed reductions from different items stack but have it capped at 50%.
Idk hopefully Smite2 addresses alot of the core game issues. I love solo lane but I have a few select gods I only use. Any time I try to off role or play a hybrid build in solo, just ends in losing. You follow the meta or play the broken baby smite gods, it's literally the only way to semi enjoy smite. Imo.
u forgot the fact that the enemy jungler for some dam reason is always camping your lane (as a solo) while YOUR jungler is nowhere to be found completely forgetting the fact that your lane exists and can be helped from time to time
You don't have to pick a warrior for the solo lane, just saying. I play a big range of characters, including mages, assassins and hunters. Sometomes you can swap roles, and go mid as a warrior etc. If this is the meta it doesn't mean that you have to play it that way.
The variety issue is one thats been confusing me for a while. HiRez seems to have some hatred for off-role gods doing well. For example, Serqet support got nerfed into the ground, and the masks, items that aid off-role gods in principle, are so unbearably dogshit that you cant even really build them as memes. All this to say make Rangda’s better, I wanna play KA jungle with bigger numbers
First, I think bringing back something like sledge but instead of stacking prots it stacks power for time near an enemy god increasing in power with the more gods nearby this would help increase kill potential early in solo and increase threat to the backline while not bringing the problem of season 8s jungle meta where it was just warriors building bruiser items. I also think they should readd the harpy camps from season 9 as a small obj and treat them like the speed camp from i either season 3 or 4, and they buff waves slightly for each one killed adding more farm for solos to take
That being said, I am a jungle main, and I will never gank solo lane after like one phys prot item gets going. It’s simply impossible, since your solo does no damage to them, you don’t, but they do damage to you.
Im a warrior main and i love solo lane. Its just something about beating the hell out of my opponent and thinking about how the enemy team starts bming each other because he getting worked. Sometimes when the jungler comes to help i immediately focus on them and kill them so it can cause even more chaos. I just like the enemy team to be in shambles. Im gonna be toxis as hell 🤣

For the teleporters that's why I said they help for objective play, but they don't really help for ganking. Generally I can agree though.
