The last air dji dropped was on 2021, it was due time that another drone of the Air series would drop and they didn't disappoint! The Air 3 is the perfect upgrade for the Air2s
I've been a DJI fan for years, starting with the Spark, mini 2SE, then the mavic Air 2, but the Air 3 takes the cake. It's a testament to how DJI keeps raising the bar with each release. 🙌💯
There is no doubt that dji has no competition in the drone industry. The Air3 is fantastic, and with that much flight time, im going to be spending all day flying it.

Great video, personally I think the Air 3 is another great DJI drone. I'll keep my Air2 and Air2S and will continue to fly them.
This was a fair comparison. Im glad I purchased the Air2S when it came out. Seems like the tech had hit a good point in time. There hasn't been a DJI drone released yet. That would justify me upgrading. When I watched the side by side video. I swear.. My footage out of Air looked more like the footage you were using for Air3. lol. Ill hang on to my A2 for one more year I guess Thanks for the fantastic video!

Nice comparison Sir. Being from San Diego myself, I spent a lot of time on Fiesta Island and the Air 3 color dynamic is far more true to what that area looks like. There is no question about it. I will pull the trigger on the Air 3. In my opinion it checks all the boxes for me. Today I live in Ha Long Bay Vietnam and this is drone paradise. Cheers!

I bought the Air 3. I needed a back up drone to the Air2S or Vice Versa.
For those with a air 2s, it’s not worth the upgrade. Was for the air 3 s. I just want a mini 4 pro soon.
Best video comparing those two drones that I've seen. I'm very happy with my Air 2 S and will stick with it for the foreseeable future. It is an amazing drone.

Tempted, best for stills I will keep the A2S, the dang/raw shots edit so well and the dynamic range is very good, 12ish stops I believe. However, that 70 mm equivalent lens for video 🤔 mmm. Maybe if they make the A3 compatible with the rc pro moving forward. Let’s see what the long term reviews say too, spending far to much with DJI already. Thanks for another good review. 👍
The Air 3 profile is a bit over sharpened while Air 2s is softer. I think it's a matter of taste which is better. I personally will hold on to my Air 2s since I usually use Dlog and make my own adjustments.
Air 2S footage looks more natural and true to life with fine detail. Air 3 reminds me Air 2 with strong software added sharpness, but some people might prefer Air 3 footage.
I fly a lot in the night with my Air 2S, take photos and videos... do you recommend the Air 3 over the M3P considering that aspect? Please, let me know what you think. Thanks for the info
The issue is that DJI is now pushing new drones every year or two in order to maximise the sales , but as with the phone manufacturers who also release new models every year , there just isn’t enough new tech to pack in them in order to make upgrade worth it .
I know it's youtube compression etc, but what I can see new air 3 looks way over sharpened. Not more details but digital sharpening, air 2s looks more like a mirorless and air 3 iPhone like.. :/

The omnidirectional obstacle avoidance on the Air 3 is a life-saver, or should i say a "drone-saver". This makes the drone easier for beginners, and for reckless pilots like me.

Thanks for the comparison. One thing nobody seems to want to talk about is the sensor aspect ratio. As a photo first drone user, this is why I'll gladly stick with my Air 2S.
I like how people actually thinks its a 48mp camera when truly its a 12mp quad-bayer sensor.
@@floatingrabbit3556 Yup. But let's just skip over that detail. Seriously though, this model is a downgrade for me. Can't fly beyond VLOS, so who cares about 20km. It ascends and descends a teeny bit faster. Great. I would have only considered this if it had a 3:2 sensor that's 1" or larger.

Considering the technology we had with the original Mini, no 4k, less quality with photos too. So now the Mini has come a long way but the Mini 4 Pro really doesnt remain cost effective. Thats why here from the Mini 4 Pro I would just go ahead and upgrade to the Air 3 if i wanted the flight time and flying recreationally the weight wont matter.
Air 3 is better in low light. I had air 2s I sold it but I will buy the Mavic 3 classic
Looks awesome. If it had 5.4k, 1" sensor. 4k 120, and 4k vertical video, 20mp sensor would be perfect. Have a feeling the air 3s won't upgrade to these to not cannibalize mavic 3 lineup.
That’s how I feel about it with the m-log. It is always annoying if something feels like an artificial downgrade.
Seems people aren't overly excited about a 70mm camera for half the price of the m3pro.
For real estate still images i can see this being very helpful.
Let's see if the binned 48mp dng files edit as well as the air2s. Let's be real though, does anyone view real estate(and most other) images beyond the resolution of their phone ?

The specs for the air 3 state it can do "simulated long exposures" from 2.5 to 8 seconds. The Mavic three classic just states it can do eight second exposures. What is the difference?
On the video comparisons, I liked the blues better on the Air 2S but the browns better on the Air 3
Air 2s potentially can give an astonishing quality pictures and videos. Back then, it was a cheaper version of mavic 2 pro. On the other hand, Air 3 became an expensive version of mini 3 pro. So mavic 3 is an option to upgrade for 2s.
So which produced more accurate colors? How can I determine from the side by sides ?

You cannot charge the battery while the battery is in the drone. And, you can use the SD card to get files from drone.
yes you can charge battery in the drone. i have done it few times already.
On the day shots, Air 2s look more pleasing to the eyes, it has better DR and overal details. Air 3's picture looks too over sharpened and shadow area is too dark.
It reminds me a bit of the Autel picture.
The Air 2s was the only DJI drone I didn't like and sold it. It's 31 minute flight time was grossly over-rated. You could see that flight time tick down like the third dial on your watch. I never got more than about 17 minutes before she had to come back and was terrible fighting a wind. Air 3 is the way to go and I ordered it one minute after it was available.
That flight time is very subjective, based on where you use it and the conditions of the weather. I’ve always got at least 21-22minutes of flight time in strong winds and cold weather and got up to 27min (14% battery life) in calm&warm weather.
But regardless, the more skilled you get the less time you need in the air. The 20-25min real flight time of the Air2S it is still PLENTY time in the air.. not to mention when you have 3+ batteries.
This review pretty much convinced me to keep my Air 2S. The controller and side sensors are nice, but it's all about the camera for me. As others have said, the video looks sharper than I'd like.
Wow the video of the Air 3 it's way better, more sharp and defined as well much richer colors, I really like it.
Why are people even considering an upgrade from the Air 2s? It should even be a doubt! The Air 3 seems better on every aspect, cant wait for mine to arrive ✨
The air3 sensor isn't 48MP, it's actually a 12MP sensor, and it's claiming 48MP is like the 48MP on the old air2.
honestly the 2.7k vertical video is basically still less pixels than cropping in on the 5.4k video on the Air2s, the only advantage is that you dont have to crop in post and that you have 60fps but this is basically not really needed on a mavic and I mostly shoot 25 or 30 so I dont know if this is much of a feature. Switched from air2 to the air2s and I really feels like an upgrade and somehow the Air 3 feels like a downgrade for me because honestly 1 inch is 1 inch, all the stacked sensor hocus pocus is not worth the money and it feels like the video is too oversharpened and feel less natural to me. This drone is a big no in my opinion

I bought the mavic air when it came out and I really need to upgrade after having a lot of issues with it. The air 3 seems really good to me and I don’t think that the camera quality is a massive issue compared to the air 2s as a lot of people complain. The air 3 comes with a better flight time, better obstacle avoidance and a dual camera system. Also the new o4 connection is a big upgrade for me because I usually lost connection after 300 meters or less. I’m also interested in the new functions such as waypoints and slow-mo at 4K/100FPS. For the price I get everything I basically need as I’m not a professional filmmaker or anything…

I realy like the 1 for his smaller size. The size of the Air line has just gone bigger and bigger.
Only the wi-fi bad connection is the issue for me...
@@etiennegarachon3442 yea I’ve got the air 1 for 5 years now and I still like the design and size of it but the connection is terrible and I have a flight time of like 15 minutes. I also have issues with the gimbal when I switch to sports mode and the power button on my controller literally died a few weeks ago 😭
Sounds like you would be happy with the air2. Air3 is more professional than most would need.
Will you ever actually tell us if you think the photo and video quality is equivalent, better, or worse than the 2S or Mavic 3? While listing features is helpful I want your trusted opinion on IQ.

Hi is there a way to enable manual decent on this Air whilst its in RTH ? The Mini 3 Pro does it but i can't seem to do with with the Air 3
I've just got an Air 2S on the release day of the Air 3 a couple of days ago because it was heavily discounted and it's been the drone I've been most wanting to upgrade to from my Parrot Anafi, which was the main rival to (and I think on the whole, better than) the original Mavic Air, it actually does a few things better than the Air 2S. The biggest problems with the Parrot though is it has no obstacle avoidance at all and the video quality is quite noisy, neither of these a problem with the Air 2S, although, not having side sensors on the Air 2S is a bigger issue than I thought it might be because there are many situations where it would help and that was the main thing that made me question if it's worth spending an extra £500 to get the new Air 3? Ultimately I thought no because I've spent the last few years having no obstacle avoidance and have got on fine.
If parrot came out with another drone they would be an instant competitor to dji. The anafi years later is still a great camera with a ton of features. I plan on getting one sooner or later.
@@willproduction2138 Yeah I was really disappointed they never came out with a proper successor to the Anafi, the more I use the Air 2S the more I notice how well Parrot nailed it with usability and features.
May have been addressed before but what cards are you using to store footage? I’ve used Sandisk extreme but is there a better option?
Just look up the recommended cards for these drones and you're good to go. The SanDisk extreme are a little overkill though. If you know the write speeds of these drones then you know what card to get.
How does the new DJI Air 3 stack up against an Autel equivalent?
I'm waiting for the Air 3S or Air 3 Classic, depending on what they call it, with the single 1" (or better, hope, hope) sensor at a slightly lower price. Expect it in about a year if past is prologue. I understand why DJI releases the drone that isn't what we really want first (so they can suck more money out of the fan boys that buy everything DJI makes), but its annoying to have to wait an extra year just so DJI can extract a little more money from their customers.
Yeah, it’s the marketing SCHEME. They COULD HAVE HAD the NEAR-perfect drone a LONG time ago!
Air 2s is my choice over the air 3 air 2s has a better camera maybe when the air 3s comes out, it will have a larger sensor just like the air2 compared to the air2s.

At minute 1:35 there is a difference in the two comparison shots (tower thingy on the right), there shouldn't be any post processing for a fair comparison. We like the unbiased reviews :)

for the few differences i really do not think it is worth shelling out over grand to change from a 2s to a 3, lets see if they make a 3s lol.

it aint a true 48mp though. quad bayer tech which barley makes a difference in quality compered to 12mp. the vertical crop is a gimmick really. you can just crop normal 4:3 footage to vertical mobile ratio when editing. plus you can crop to the part of the footage you want and then re center it. with vertical out the camera you miss a lot the scene to the left and right so no room for error. pus i like to shoot for youtube and then can crop for insta with the same footage. you cant do that if you shoot vertical
Since the RC Pro works with the Air 2S, I wont be upgrading any time soon.
Unless you are a professional, there is no need for one to by either of these cameras. You fall over the 250 gram limit. Still, the price is probably good if you have that type of money.
I don't get the comparison between 2S and 3 by having different shots next to each other -one closer (70mm was used?) and one further away. I'd prefer to see 24 here and there. Plus, I did buy Mavic Air 2 just to find out few months later there's 2S releasing. I felt cheated and now I'm going to skip Air 3, even if Air3S never shows up.
Newer consumer into drones..and doing some research..quick question..that "auxiliary light/LED "spotlight" underneath..does it come on automatically when approaching for descent at a certain feet as you get closer to landing?..or can you turn it on/off?..thanks

Using 5.4k on the Air 2S is not fair. It actually feels like the Air 2S is the newer model!
It's no Skydio 2, not even close when it comes to Follow Me Mode.

Personally, I like the colorization in the A2s, but living in California, I know the Air 3 looks more natural. I rarely use any of the master shots or follow me modes so that stuff doesn’t really matter to me. I turn off obstacle avoidance for smoother flights near objects. I wonder how 360 obstacle avoidance would change that experience for me. Will probably wait for 3S
I am really surprised that they removed the 5.4K feature tho… I like using it in case I have to crop a little in post… Also, I think there was 8K hyper lapse in the original Air 2 which they also removed but was not a big deal…
I think most people used that 5.4k to crop the actual video. The second camera kind of covers it. I just sold my Air2s that I went around the world with and ordered the Air3. Let's see ...
@@Piyal2020 I get it with the second camera but sometimes I won’t need 3x zoom or won’t know at the moment of shooting if I am going to need to crop or not. It is a great feature and I think even with the second camera, they shouldn’t have removed it.
how is it with the camera tilt....i have a air 2...and the camera just films straight and down...living in the dolomites i struggled sometimes bc the top of mountains where cut out of the frame...is it possible to tilt up a bit the camera of the air 3?
That’s strange. My original Air 2 could tilt up quite a bit. Now I have a Nano+ and it only films straight or down which is annoying sometimes. So I can understand the frustration.
And very interesting question regarding the Air3 that I have asked myself as well as noone seems to comment on it.

That I'll inch sensor is a miracle for my photography and going back to a smaller one would kill me. I knkw they say its a 48mp sensor but the truth is its 12mp quad Bayer sensor.
Anyway I am really looking forward to the Air 3S at this point becuase I know it will build upon the Air 3's short comings.
For those of us that like and value the software side of drone flying, our interest in newly released DJI consumer drones has waned along with DJI’s lack of interest in providing a timely software development kit (SDK) to third parties. Both my Air 2S and my M2P are fully supported by products like Dronelink and Litchi while my Mini 3P is just now only getting Android SDK support. I can only imagine how long it will take for the Air 3! Great review, nonetheless!

If AIr2s is sturdier and more durable than Air3 and having this quality flaw when crack appears above the left wing - I can't imagine the quality flaws Air3 will begin to show soon...
Tell you what, BECAUSE I’m NOT a photographer, a creator, etc…JUST a “hobbyist”, recreational flying only around our place viewing cows, wildlife..anything I deem important @ the time. The MAIN thing, essential for me NOW that I’ve figured out HOW IMPORTANT it is..?..is a drone’s ‘OA’, Obstacle AVOIDANCE. The A2S isn’t that great and you have to pay attention to side-ways flight. IT SEEMS THAT TECHNOLOGY SHOULD’VE BEEN MARKETED A LONG TIME AGO..instead of these ‘generational’, small incremental changes in COMPLETELY NEW drones ‘6 MONTHS’ later!
Lots of options to fit your needs with other drones.
Noone is keeping it secret. What theyre not telling is the end of year power fees and fact that not everyone saves money
its a step backwards...👎 I watched the side by side shots on my Professional color grading monitor and the air 3 is just oversharpen and shadows are crushed, maybe its because of the 4k resolution. But still if you take a higher resolution image and scale it down it will look much better then a different camera shooting in max resolution (4k). And by the way the mavic 3 is not good either, i rented the mavic 3 and tested it on my own against the air 2s, the shots (static) were done simultaneously in the air, not like in all the reviews in witch they shoot with the drones after each other. After grading the footage day light/sunset/dark. I can say that the mavic 3 had a bit better dinamic range especially the roll off to the highlights. BUT again there is some image processing sharpening it up and it remembers me of the original mavic pro 1 and is just terrible (it is mostly visible on the horison). they should make the sensors like the Air 2s has but better each time, Make the image sensor with legit pixels and not fake quadrupelled into 48🤮

As someone who owned the Mavic Pro 2, I actually felt the air 2s was an upgrade in many situations, but the lowlight capability of the Air 2s was just too soft and noisy compared to the Mavic 2 Pro, I feel like upgrading to the Air 3 wouldn't make sense since the Picture quality of both are similar except that the Air 3 feels a bit over sharpened. A bigger sensor is what we should all expect from the Air 3s
You can watch recent video of Air 3 night mode. Much much better than the 2s even the sensor is smaller. Better HDR too. It’s all about the algorithm.

@@Marc-io6pv MP2 color science believe it or not is actually better looking in my opinion and the Log profile is flatter so you have more room in color grading.
