- This time on Knucklehead Garage Jamin is finally finishing up work on project Towverlander our 7.3 Powerstroke Expedition Overlander. Now you have seen us make more power out of the 7.3 powerstroke diesel engine as well as upgrade the suspension to make it more capable offroad, but not it is time to put the overland in project Towverlander. That means it needs a roof rack and some organization and storage help in the back. Follow along as Jamin uses his wood working skills to make a custom rear storage setup including a cooler tray, table, and huge slide out drawer. We are getting so close to finishing this rig out and taking it on it's epic first trip so stay tuned for that and let us know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Ok… The pickup I loved/hated (it was an ecodiesel, IYKYK) broke down & burned out last week. I’m shopping around, and maybe a 7.3 excursion is in my near future… If so, you’re going to be my new hero. 😆
So many nights, I asked myself, ”would I ever see the diesel excursion overland build update again”. This is a good day.
Sorry. I had a Backiodamy last year, and that slowed me down for many months. Only a little bit more work left before we have our first Big Adventure in July.

Glad I’m not the only one to trade in a land cruiser for the EX…had to sell the 80 and the 100 to get a car big enough for 4 kids, 2 parental units, a dog and my cooler! I’m jealous of the Carli system! I’m wanting to coil spring my front end with quality parts and I’m not overly impressed with the options out there.
the Coil Spring swap is so worth it when you consider ride quality and turning radius.
I love Landcruisers, but sometimes you just need more room. Coil swap with factory parts is still a huge improvement.

Dam you got nicer wood working tools than mechanical tools, I'm jealous 😂 nice build this Excursion has come along ways since the start of the build almost 2 yrs ago, and the Jackery units are freaking awesome my buddy and his wife bought 2 of them, you got the nicest Excursion in the country 👍

Long term: if you build a bumper with the swing outs below the barn doors, you can fully open them. I plan on building my own for that reason
I’m sure it can be done, but the bumper would have to sit out really far for the arms to not interfere with the frame rails. Or you could make it really wide I guess 🤷🏻♂️

I did one of my annual road trips from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to Albuquerque which culminated in my basically non-stop run from Denver back, which took 42 hours. Never missed a beat, although it didn’t like going over 85 mph. I could get 1500kms on a tank too. Somebody in town has it now, I’ve got a Yukon Denali XL which I really like too, but it always causes the ol’ heart to skip a bit when I see it.
6000 miles Overland trip in a highly modified 22 year old 238k SUV… what could go wrong 🫣

U ever watch 24/7 4x4 channel out of Australia. They have a tray for domestics that when u pull it out u push a latch and ur domestic drops like 10 inches.
I know of such things. Problem was the width. And I couldn’t put a table underneath.
This one worked well for us, good thing none of us are vertically challenged

This truck didn’t come with fog lights. When you pull on my switch, the knob just comes off 😂

What’s in the video is pretty much the extent of the design specs. It’s pretty much Build to whatever size you’d like. I don’t know if I still have any of the drawings.

It’s just for extra storage. I keep things that I don’t want in the cab or that I want to access quickly in there. Extra fluid for the truck, toilet, etc…

@@BustedKnuckleVideo yes that has crossed my mind, mine has 0 rust on it as it came from Arizona, when I bought it I couldn’t believe how clean it was, in Missouri everything that is this age is typically a rust bucket. So it would be a good candidate for a swap.
But the V10 has 2 extra cylinders 😉
