I was eyeballing the new FN one, but it's a travesty to call it a hi-power. I ended up with the sa-35. I'm not a fan of springfield, but this one I like.

I like the Girsan mcp35 because I'm a lefty. The ambi safety coming standard is great for me.

I've run a couple of hundred rounds through mine with no problems. Lovin' it so far......

Well, I spoke too soon.... Went out today and after about 20 rounds, it failed to extract. I cleared it, fired three more and another FTE. Called Springfield Armory and I'm sending it back.

All Hi-Powers have a barrel bushing including the SA 35. 2) Original Hi-Powers did not have a double sided safety. Also, it is harder to tear down a Hi-Power with an Ambi-Safety. The fisinish is Hot Acid Blue - THe "Cut Down" is that the Block does not have the spring present in 3rd Gen on Hi Powers.

finish is a matte blued finish. (they bead blast it then apply bluing over the top)

That's good to hear. For those that don't know the br9 is the Regent Browning hi-power clone from 2018.

Just got back from the range - test fired the SA-35 for the first time. Fired about 150 rounds. Had some issues with feeding - might've been the Pro Mag 15-rd mags I used - although the factory SA one had a couple feeding issues too. Mostly around the last or last 2 rounds in the magazine. Didn't notice any extraction problems. Every time there was stoppage the magazine disconnected with the round still stuck in the magazine. The weapon itself never had a round stuck inside. Plan to break down and clean the magazines (although they were all new) and try firing again. Otherwise, the accuracy is very good - when it did fire.

I believe that's actually an issue with the gun not picking up the next round. If you search here on RUclips I think you'll find videos going over that exact problem. Typically the Mec gar magazines are very reliable. MEC gar makes the magazine for Springfield. But let me know what you find out I'm always interested

@@TheJimminiShow thanks for the info; I'll definitely check out the post. I placed an order for Mec Gar mags, but they still haven't arrived (been over a month). Interestingly I had one 30 round ProMag mag and loaded with 25 rounds twice - it only had a stoppage at the last round or two. I noticed the follower on the ProMag 15 rd and 30 rd are different. The 30 rd one appears more like the factory Mec Gar one. Thanks again!

    I want a Springfield SA 35.

I know it's an old vid and thanks ! Greatly informative video!
I have to say after owning both originals (Browning and FN) and putting a couple hundred rounds through the new FN My SA-35 blows them all out of the water!
Now I'll admit I do have a later serial number well after the extractor issues and 1 or 2 others that were worked out it's close to 20k in number and so far after about 200 rounds(finally got one on 3-20-23 ) I only had one issue and that was it comes with 1 mag, it makes me want to yell @springfield , they did such a great job even with the extractor issues in making a faithful yet upgraded hi-power (my #2 best gun of all time) they only include 1 mag? It's not like there are some sort of hi-power mag shortages, mec-gar has made them I think almost as long as the guns been manufactured... If I'm wong then I'm wrong please correct me.
To me including only 1 mag is like Springfield wanting me to die, hell I have a ton of 13's that work but not everyone else has collected hi-powers for as long... I also have a million 1911 mags... It's sad, like that awesome scene in last man standing (I think) when he's got 2 1911's and 100 mags on a bed... It's a sickness 😂
I think the only change needed is (as a lefty) Ambi safeties (it basically an industry standard at this point) but I also understand sticking to the faithfulness of the original but it's 2023(22 when manufactured) and there's a ton of us wrong handed people that shoot a lot

Thanks for the great comparison - I just picked up an SA-35. Would you know if the slide stop/release is interchangeable? I would've picked up the Tisas, but it wasn't in stock at the time and the SA-35 was available. Wanted to have the "upgrades" that it had.

    • @TheJimminiShow
      @TheJimminiShow  2 года назад +1

Yes, in fact the slide stop will work in either gun. I swapped barrels and they were interchangeable too. It appears to be a slight difference in the way the slide is cut around the ejector

The difference on the bottom of the slide that you're pointing out is a firing pin stop on the browning. It was not on the original hi powers. But added in the 90's, I believe. I'm not to sure why the slides would not interchange, but I doubt that is the reason.

    • @TheJimminiShow

Thanks for the info. After further investigation it looks like There is an interference issue with the ejector. Which is unfortunate. But additionally since this is a new manufacturer firearm there's plenty of support from Springfield as well as the aftermarket will be specifically designing for this pistol so my little gripe isn't as big a deal. Although as I said the Gershon version is 100% interchangeable with an original high power

Your black pistol is a MkIII High Power. It is not an original. The MkIII is a later model with a firing pin block. The original High Power did NOT have a firing pin block, exactly like that Springfield SA 35.

I just bought mine. I didn’t notice till I got home with it, the slide does not lock back on an empty mag. The slide stop lever isn’t locking into place when i rack the slide on an empty mag. I’m hoping this issue goes away after firing it. But I doubt it. I’ll probably be calling Springfield as well. I noticed on the video here, he locks the slide back on the empty magazine. Mine isn’t doing that. So disappointing.

BHP Solutions gave there opinion on why there has been extraction problems with some of the SA 35s.

Your Browning is a MkIII. The Springfield is a copy of the Original Browning Hi-power.

"It's not (like) a Belgian made one . . ." I think if you look on the slide, just forward of the ejection port, it says, Made in Belgium. Browning never made the Hi-Power, Browning doesn't make guns, they're an importer.
