Watched and enjoyed your Jack Reacher informational video after watching the Reacher series on Amazon, ordered Die Trying straight away and haven’t been able to put it down
Recently just started a new job which has opened up the ability to read more. I started reading the books in chronological order (don’t ask why because I don’t know). I have recently just watched the series on Amazon having only read the enemy and night school so about to go onto this one next I can’t wait. Great review and opinions on both book and series

I’ve never read any Jack Reacher books but I loved the movie (sacrilege to most Reacher fans I imagine 😂) and think I would really enjoy the book series. Good Reacher emoji! The series was fun and I actually really love the films, I just don’t think they are Reacher as such. (Tom Cruise did a relatively good job of personality despite looking nothing like Reacher). I think you’d enjoy the books as they are so fast paced and easy to read and I love the character! Great discussion mate. Love how you managed to pack plenty of detail in here whilst keeping it spoiler free. It's always interesting to see people's reactions to adaptations, who is going to hate it vs who is going to love it, what will they get right or wrong and how faithful will it stay? Considering you're a fan of the books it's a good sign that you had a pretty positive reaction to the adaptation. Even if they didn't hit the mark every single time it sounds like they hit it enough to be enjoyable. Most of the time our mental images of characters don't match up with who ends up being casted but hopefully as you said this guy will grow into the role as he has more time to familiarise himself with the characters nuances and what he wants to bring to the table.
Thanks Mason, I generally feel disappointed by adaptations and I was impressed by how faithful they were to the plot of the book, considering the huge difference it makes to take something out of first person. I haven't read any of the books or watched the series, but you make it sound so interesting! I definitely find it interesting to compare books and TV/movie adaptations. And I'm glad this one seems to be a pretty good adaptation. Some adaptations are so bad, lol!

II am a really big Jack Reacher Fan. I actually discovered Killing Floor shortly after it was first released. I was particularly grateful when it turned out to be a series, I love series that are well crafted and written as is the Reacher series. I had been on pins and needles since the Prime series was announced. The Tom Cruise movies were okay, but he is not Reacher. I binge watched the series immediately upon release. I was happily surprised at how closely it adhered to the book. One of the best book adaptions I have experienced in my 77 years. You caught more of the subtilties than I did, but I was watching for enjoyment not differences. That being said you review is spot on and I will remember your comments when I re-watch the series. Have you read any of Diane Capri's "The Hunt for Jack Reacher" series. While not as good as Lee Child's book, they are a worthy counterpoint.
Thanks for your comment. I wasn’t really watching for differences at the time but the reread made them stand out for me. A really good faithful adaptation and I could see the reasons for all the minor changes. I haven’t read the Diane Capri books as they are hard to get hold of in the UK, but when I find one I’m definitely going to read it! 😊

I'm nearly finishing the book after watching the first season. Can't say it's my cup of tea... Maybe because i knew the plot already and wanted to just run through it. Also i don't like the writing style much (battle at the house with the pool is better in the book!) Writing like "It was 12 o'clock. She opened the cupboard, picked up something. Couldn't stop admiring her. She turned around and headed for the kitchen. Lights were on. The table had..." Mooove on! Just progress it already. I don't want to known about your date in detail or the furniture.
I read Killing Floor for March Mystery Madness and ended up really enjoying it! It is not the type of book I normally read so I going into it, I just thought it would be okay. I really like the character of Jack Reacher and I love the writing style of Lee Child.
The character really makes this whole series work. I love Jack Reacher, he’s a great creation and the books are so easy to read. 😊 So glad you enjoyed it.
Just finished re-reading the book for the first time in a while after having watched the series (and I almost forgot just how good it was). I loved how faithful it was in a lot of ways, but I wasn't a huge fan of some of the changes (see: Neagley, plus a few other things that would be MAJOR spoilers). That said, it was very well-executed either way!
I agree! When I watch the series without having reread the book recently I think it’s faithful, then I reread the book and find all the differences and I like the books so much more. However, as you say they have overall done a good job of adapting. I wasn’t really a fan of some of the changes either.
The amazon-Reacher is an arrogant muscle jock, some kind of a bully. But in a fight he have to be saved by a small girl. This guy is more like a guy who gets beaten by Reacher in the first ten paiges.
I binged the series in a week and it made me want to jump into the books. I know you said it doesnt particularly matter in your other video, but in your personal opinion, if you could restart the series would you read in release or chronological order?
If I was starting again I would still read them in publication order, that’s just how my head likes to do things. I also appreciated not knowing much about Reacher at first and getting to know his background as and when it was introduced rather than all the background coming first.
I'm New to Jack Reacher books. I am going to follow your Chronigical Guide, but will add in the short stories. I don't like a story that jumps back and forth in time line too much. Makes my head hurt, like did I misremermber some crucial details. Keep up with the spy series book reviews. Amazon may take this Reacher guy into his 70s . Interesting.

On without fail. Didn't read killing floor. Reacher just mentioned Joe's death and it sounds different plus Neagley isn't in the killing floor book so pretty sure Season 2 will be without fail? I kind of know what you mean, there was something missing personality-wise but I did warm to him after a while.

Roscoe was a gorgeous brunette, or a skinny blonde. Finley was a tall, older, slender gentleman, not a short youngster. These miscasts were so bad.
