this video hasn't been easy to film, I didn't realise going into this, how many emotions id feel whilst reading back through these texts. please understand why I walked away from this situation the way I did, as a young person who was brainwashed for so long I had enough. i have a lot of love for Ty (whoever he was), he helped me through so much. I still feel guilty for leaving but I know it was right. Towards the end things were more toxic than anything. The texts don't show the full story but I did my best to fill in the gaps. He said he’d come see me sooo many times and let me down each time, I was so heartbroken and my friends were the same as yours and would call me stupid for believing he’d come see me. But one day he did come see me and long story short, we’ve been together almost 4 years, we have our own home and a 1 year old daughter❤️❤️

I know right? My former boyfriend told me he once took a rejection so badly it ended up in a suicide attempt so I always hesitated to leave him when I suspected the relationship was no good. I asked him for space a couple of weeks before the breakup (for verbal abuse) and once I set that boundary, he said he's going to go off his meds as "punishment", implying it could result in self-injury. He even sent a gif of a man shooting himself.
I told him later that what he did was emotional blackmail and he said I should not "use his words from a temporary emotional breakdown" against him. Two weeks into the breakup and he's still alive.

At 13 I was sexually groomed online. Although not exactly the same situation, when the police arrived at my house I stood there and told them he was my friend and that I didn't want anything bad to happen to him. Now, at 20, I understand that I only felt that way as a result of his manipulation and abuse. This person isn't a friend to you, his intentions were immoral and abusive. I hope with all my heart you can heal from this and move on to be an even stronger woman

That’s all you have to say wow😭😭😭. Even though this was messed up he was her rock when she needed it., but it was sad but in that time it’s the reason she made it through some days with him making her smile .
i’ve been in a similar catfish situation, everything was fine at first but then it started getting weird. he kept making up these different characters such as his friends or exes that would always attack me, i knew fully well they were all him but i ignored it. around the time that we stopped talking he told me that he was in hospital and he wasn’t expected to live for long. i couldn’t deal with it by then because he used to threaten to hurt himself a lot but it was all a lie. i stopped talking to him and then months later he messaged me as if everything was okay, he told me he was out of hospital and he was fine, even though he told me multiple times that the doctor said he wouldn’t make it. i was talking to this guy for 4 whole years and he would always have a reason to not call or facetime me but somehow i never saw the red flags because he supported me and was a nice guy. i knew he was fake, but i didn’t care. to this day he is still active on snapchat and we don’t talk anymore. but he caused me a lot of emotional trauma
I've had a really similar situation. What is it with the whole hurting themselves thing?! Like literally holding yourself ransom to a total stranger just so they don't "kill themselves". Ugh it frustrates me so much, these people are honestly mentally ill on the highest level. I hope you're okay sweet, sending hugs to you.

Confirmations they want you to feel as if they are the only person you have, once they’ve done that, that’s when the threats start coming. they also start when they can sense that you’re drifting a little or starting to lose interest. it’s a way of keeping you around so they can manipulate you further
Me and my friend had a very similar experience with these 2 boys we met on snapchat, they would always make excuses to not talk on call and then this random girl started talkin to us pretending to be an ex to one of them and she was exactly like them the way she talked, they would never wanna meet us and when 1 was talkin to one of us the other one wouldn’t be active at all, it was like it for both of them like they was logging in on the account after an hour of using the other, eventually one of them apparently was about to kill their self and didn’t message at all for days and then the one I was talkin to he was in hospital coz he badly harmed himself and he apparently wasn’t gonna make it and they haven’t been active on the accounts for 2 years now, I was 13 at the time. It really does affect you a lot, Ik I was hurt mentally for a while until it hit me that they was catfishes and I put all the pieces together, me and my friend decided to never trust someone who won’t call or show their face.

i was dealing with the same thing recently. i was talking to this guy on my snap for about 2 months; he seemed so sweet at first. as time went on i noticed myself being isolated from my family, him becoming more manipulative, making up scenarios to make me feel bad or pity him. he would also talk about how rich he was. i was at a very low point in my life and he took advantage of that. he would say he was buying me gifts in stuff. towards the end, he figured out my school, last name, etc. and that's when i became frightened.
i thought i was stupid, because everyone i knew made me feel like i was dumb for even talking to anyone online. including my best friend. this video just made me feel a bit better (:

This was very relatable for me. Extremely manipulative. A lot of these people use all the same tactics. It's amazing how they do it. It can really, really mess you up especially when you're young or in a psychologically vulnerable state. You shouldn't worry about that person, they don't really care about you, otherwise they wouldn't have tried to manipulate you so much. They just use you because they are lonely etc. The good feelings you have towards them and you worrying about them mostly just come from them emotionally manipulating you. As you said, they sent nice messages when you started to get more distant, it was less genuine and more calculated.

This video is so sad, the emotion behind it fucking sucks. It reminds me a lot of my first heartbreak..... I wasn't catfished but there were many times we were going to meet up and he'd cancel last minute or something like that. He'd tell me he loved me and we had inside jokes that only we understood and he was there for me at a very hard time in my life. It's so hard as a teenager to go through heartbreak when you have so many other things going on. I can still read our messages and get emotional too. Glad you were able to move on x

I got catfished for 11 months, I found out yesterday. The amount of small details that went into this was almost genius. I had 2000 pictures of her, I spoke to her sister, her friends. I honestly trusted her with my soul. I found out I got catfished because she wouldn’t take a picture of my name written on her hand. An our later I had been blocked on everything. I’m really suffering and it’s fucked with my head so much. She was literally the only person I had. I didn’t even get an explanation, I’m so devastated, she was perfect. I don’t know what to do with myself.

I honestly feel so bad for you. I was in a similar situation at the age of 15 with someone also called Ty (must be a bad omen lol), and even though he wasn't a catfish it was so toxic. It's always easy to judge if you've never been in the situation but when you're actually in it, it's so easy to get caught up in it all, even if you've only ever spoken to them online. I really feel for you and I hope your heart can heal from this xx

im so glad i didn't get a phone until i was like 17 . Even when i got a phone my mum would always check just in case something was up . And i thank her for that she is an awesome mum . I feel bad for what you've gone through and i hope these people will get exposed more in videos like these. I think online relationships and friendships should always be taken very light because most of the time it can be dangerous . I think the problem is nowadays is more kids and teenagers are using phones and social apps with their parents unknowing whats going on . If you're ever in a position like this where you have a gut feeling something is off and the person you're speaking to gets you emotionally and mentally unwell and nervous and you feel manipulated. this just makes me sad because u were so hooked and so attached to this person and the way they helped you, but in reality he was doing more harm then good. i went through this as well except he wasn’t cat fishing. he just kept promising we’d get married and idk it was weird but it’s a long story and similar to this. anyways, i hope that you never experience this again.
I had a similar story as well, I met this guy online who told me he was a hacker and that he could get my hacked twitter account back. I never got my twitter account back but he would always make up stories to get me to send money to him and I fell for this. He'd say that he's in love with me and wants to fly to the UK to see me. However, every time I told him I no to sending him money, he would manipulate me by saying he's going to hack me and make my life miserable. It got to the point where he'd make fake accounts with fake stories to try and get more money from me.

This addiction uses by scammers and narcissists! He writes the same "beautiful amazing" text to many girls at the same time, just copy-paste! He is not meaning the one word of those texts! Understand it, he is cold rational sick person. He will never ever charge bc he does not know how to live otherwise. Don't be sad about those bs texts! She mentions not seeing her dad often and having a rocky relationship with her mother. A lot of parents do not know who their children are interacting with online, especially from 14 onward when they begin talking, that's when people start getting more freedom.

I just don't understand why someone would ever do something like that; love shouldn't be a challenge. I know a lot of us are meeting people online during this period, maybe because we miss something. Yo I've seen every episode of Catfish, many of them more than once, and this person used basically all the stories/lies/techniques in the book. And it's completely possible that they changed their voice and it's actually a woman.

I am so sorry you have to go through this. It is best to just move on. People like that are never going to change. I have been there myself for over a year before I just finally blocked them everywhere. The manipulation is so draining, no one deserves that.
I talked to a guy for two years that was like this, too. He didn't catfish me, but he was always sending these sorts of things. He was all over the place, sometimes wanting a relationship (even though I said I didn't want that and we had never met) and other times being rude and talking about other girls/wanting advice on how to get them. These kinds of men are such a waste of time.

it's not just the fact that he was constantly lying, what scared me the most were his mind games and the fact that he would threaten you with his life. like, just hearing about them made me feel drained, because i had an experience where i had to end up things with someone who i had actually met and gone out a few times (but had to continue the "relationship" in distance after a while) simply because the life he lead was draining me out mentally and emotionally. and i do not blame the guy for the hardships he was and is going through but i felt that at some point he was playing mind games with me as well, maybe unintentionally but i still didn't like that. so yeah, i ended up things.
but yet again i was 20 when it happened and you were so young and i don't know, plain creepy. Internet is a scary ass place

Been here too girl. He was a real person, he would show his face, but the manipulation and the lies and the constant making you stay and trying to convince you that they cared, that stuff was the hardest. Sometimes i end up missing him, just strictly as a friend, not anything more, cause he was there for so much in my life, but i have to remember that it’s not good for me.
UGHHHH people suck!! This makes me so sad cos you're obviously still affected by it :( please do not ever speak to "him" ever again, he manipulated you and mentally and emotionally abused you! I know the feeling of wanting (even needing) someone to change, to be a better person, to treat me better, to show me that they loved me, butt it just never happened. It's sooo o hard, and you'll probably still feel a bit of emotion for years to come about it... but just know you deserve so much better, from someone who wont manipulate you, who shows you their face!!
