Makati is a city in the Philippines’ Metro Manila region and the country’s financial hub. It’s known for the skyscrapers and shopping malls of Makati Central Business District, and for Ayala Triangle Gardens, an area dotted with trees and sculptures. Ayala Museum houses the Filipinas Heritage Library and craft collections documenting the country’s history. The Rizal Monument is a memorial to national hero José Rizal. ― Google

It's unbelievable how similar the Philippines is to Brazil. Manila looks a lot like São Paulo. A city of many contrasts, lots of bikers, modern skyscrapers and not so well maintained streets, all a little chaotic. Even the way people dress is similar.
Philippines is in the wrong continent as they say.
because we’re basically part of south america 😂 jk
Kami ay bahagi ng south america mahigit isang milyong taon na ang nakalilipas😂
@@BatAskal Wrong. It's the hispanophiles are in the wrong continent
@@pauliandelrosariotbh Bangkok looks very similar to this too, us Southeast Asians have similar looking cities of south america
It's amazing that Southeast Asian cities are developing so fast in silence in what we used to think of as jungle Asia, what's great is that Manila doesn't have a lot of honking like cities in India, Vietnam, which makes me almost crazy when I visit.
You are right, i saw videos from india ang vietnam they always use their honking even tho they are stuck in traffic lol
That's because people like you rely on stereotypes rather than actual facts.
First of all, Southeast Asia wasn't just populated by "jungle barbarians" as Western media would have you believe. Civilizations have existed here long before Western colonialism. Even Spanish accounts mentioned cities like Manila having fortifications and locally made cannons/(Lantakas) and as well as locally made gunpowder.
Secondly, Manila was one of the most developed cities in Asia prior to World-War-II, however the city was completely flattened during the Japanese occupation, There are lots of photos and documentaries of Manila before and after the war.
Lastly, aside from the BGC area, most of the places in the video have existed since the 80's, 90's and early 2000's... A lot of those buildings aren't new.
this looks better then Montreal in certain aspects.....
@@dayangmarikit6860 you kept saying WAS, WAS!!! And is BGC the whole Philippines?
@@horbius_holt Poor reading comprehension 🤡
This city is constantly and rapidly transforming. I was here 25 years ago and the change from then to now is massive. The streets are getting cleaner and the skyscrapers are multiplying like crazy.
Metro Manila is really massive, he even uploaded 2 videos of more than hour each just to cover the main parts. Also roads are well paved and marked better than than I expected good job, exceeded my expectation. I was only able to travel the cbds when I worked in Manila so I was not able to travel the way he did and thought outside the cbds are bad.
Manila is truly a city of contrasts. Some parts reminds me of Singapore, Some Kuala Lumpur and some parts are uniquly Manila/Philippines, and some parts even remind me of the gulf states like Dubai.
😅😅😅😅 pleaseee..!!!
less motorbikes than Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, I should say.
Because Filipinos don’t prefer motorcycles anyways. Singapore and Philippines are the least Southeast Asian countries that use motorcycles
Most people think that it's dangerous, but motorcycle taxis have become more popular recently.

Beautiful. Been there twice. If it weren't for the humidity, I'd relocate
Manila looks like a nice city
Great job. Well done. Drivable roads. The traffic was not so congested for this purpose. Great City. Regards from KL.
I can say this city is more organized compared to Bangkok. Greetings from Thailand. This is the very first time I get to know Manila. It's a beautiful city.
Just to be real, these are more modern parts of the city from the 60s to the mid 2000s. There are a lot of older, more poorly planned areas here too. :) I love both Metro Manila and Bangkok. Looking forward to our Japanese-built Subway to open around 2029.

@@grapesofwrath1984Probably, other parts of Manila are old. Makati is the business district and BGC is the newly developed city.
Great drive! If you're ever back in Manila, I'd recommend driving on the Skyway. Its the world's third longest elevated expressway after Tokyo's Shuto and Bangkok's Bang Na. The Skyway cuts through the entire Metro Manila area from north to south and connects to the North and South Luzon expressways. Stunning views of the city in the evening when all the lights and giant LED screens switch on, and no frustrating traffic. Safe travels!

Now that you're exploring in my country, I'm genuinely excited to witness your adventures here. Thank you, always, for sharing these sentimental journeys with us! ❤
It's nice watching this video. Manila is so beautiful and clean. Drivers are very patient and I've never heard any driver honking their horn.
Depends upon the time of day and location, but like most cities, honking and squeezing in,are part of the journey.
But yes the whole of Manila is a fascinating place.
drivers are not very patient... HAHA this is taken early morning so peopke are too sleepy to get mad at others. Drive during rush hour in the evening, oh my! youre in for a treat
Metro manila*
@@brioblancaflor3662 nahhh, the honking is a bit tame inside Major CBDs, reason being the strict enforcement of city offices (LGU). Now, if we're talking about EDSA and some major roads inside the Metro, then you're really in for a treat.
@@exgeeinteractive LGUs dont care about honking. Nobody has ever been caught for honking. lol
I can't believe how similar it looks to the city where I live (Miami). 😳 It's nice to see right hand traffic too (unlike most other Asian cities).

Its amazing how Manila is transforming so fast.. some areas in this video are formerly informal settlers area just 5 years ago, now it is full of buildings.
Right.
The slums have been significantly reduced due to the construction of new highways, bridges, trains, malls, condominiums and business districts. But there’s still a long way to go for the Philippines.
If you recall, MRT Quezon Avenue station and its vicinity used to be a huge slum years ago. The squatters were relocated and the area is now full of BPO high rise towers, residential condominiums, malls, etc.
Is this progress affecting the exodus of people there? I mean are countries like UAE Qatar & Saudi arabia still in high demand there for labors? Don`t get it why filipinos would want to go to no freedom countries like in the ME 🤔
@@Movingforward2000 Filipinos are everywhere in the world. What's your point? If these overseas based Filipinos have properties in Metro Manila, well and good.
@@ronnienestor so these projects do nothing to stop the exodus? Most Filipinos are simply born having to emigrate??
@@Movingforward2000 : These projects cater to the Filipinos who remain in the country. There are 113 Million Filipinos and it's only 10% who live abroad. So, don't we deserve the new trains, subways and elevated highways? Just because a portion of the population work overseas? PH economy total GDP is $450 Billion. Remittances from overseas help the economy that totaled US$35 Billion. Don't forget that there is an active robust and growing domestic economy. As reported by tax bureau, tax collections hit record high this year due to the increase in taxes collected (full online transactions) from businesses, rising middle class and the rich Filipinos. We also want the comfort in life. We have condos, SUVs and we earn our income from the country. Okay?
I am living in Taiwan and this is my first time to see Manila's driving view.
It was amazing to me that the road design and transportation planning are much better than Taiwan's.
The number of motorcycles are also more than cars in Taiwan, but our government and traffic policy are regularly Ignoring Motorcycle Road Rights.
If we want to make a left turn at a major intersection on a motorcycle, we have to ride to the lane perpendicular to our direction first and proceed straight before completing the desired route. Motorcycles are not allowed to make a direct left turn. The so-called "two-stage left turn."
This is indeed a form of vehicle discrimination, and unfortunately, there seems to be little concern about this issue.
But when I saw the traffic planning in the Philippines, it moved me. I really hope Taiwan can have road designs like theirs, unlike the terribly ineffective government and policies we have here.
Thank you for your amazing driving video!!!
we still don't have subway here in ph but it is already under construction will be finish by 2025-2027 and will be the deepest and longest in southeast Asia(besides singapore)
@@rampage4695 the longer it goes the deeper it gets
The Philippines has the advantage of having access to road and civil engineering designs from the United States. Even signaling and signage looks a lot like California. Taiwan has a laissez-faire approach here, or takes a lot of inspiration from Japan when it comes to urban planning. Both places are fascinating in how different they are, didn't mean one approach is better than another.
@@stangerling9412it is actually the deepest subway in southeast Asia deeper than in singapore
aside from the motorcycle rules, I do think Taiwan has a nicer transportation infrastracture. Every road i've driven there has been perfect, even in the provinces. Manila's roads are very bad (only a few nice ones). Not to mention, the traffic! It's insane especially on the rush hour. I've experienced Taipei's rush hour traffic too but it's tolerable (organized). I have no idea about the other terrible policies you are pertaining which I believe are valid complaints.
OH another thing I was surprised in Taiwan is that there's no toll gates! your sensors are overhead and can read tags at normal expressway speeds PLUS it's so cheap! PH's express ways/freeways have slow toll gates and expensive toll fees.
Manila has awesome tall buildings, it's pretty and nice city👍👍 greeting from Timor Leste🇹🇱
