Manta Roller Coaster - Sea World - Orlando, Florida

- Manta is a steel, flying roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando. The attraction allows guests to encounter numerous species of ray before boarding a manta ray-shaped train that takes them on a 3,359-foot-long (1,024 m) roller coaster ride above the park, reaching top speeds of 56 miles per hour (90 km/h). Designed by Swiss firm Bolliger & Mabillard, Manta restrains riders in the prone position and features four inversions. The well-received attraction officially opened to the public on May 22, 2009. Their slogan is "Dive deep, fly high…".
SeaWorld Orlando revealed the concept that was to become Manta to a gathering of travel industry representatives and community leaders on April 2, 2008, although it had been in the planning stages for years. The exact specifications were not immediately revealed, but the park said it would be their largest single investment in an attraction, and that it would open sometime in 2009. The park also announced that the attraction would include a roller coaster, but that it would be more than just a roller coaster. Joseph Couceiro-vice president of sales and marketing-described the ride as "the next generation SeaWorld attraction" that would immerse guests in elements of marine life.
Artists' concepts of the new attraction were leaked onto the Internet in April 2008; however, SeaWorld officials would not confirm whether the images were accurate representations of the final design, but said that the roller coaster would have a gliding sensation. Searches of trademark applications uncovered an entry for the use of the term "Manta" as an amusement ride, and construction on a large site within the park had already begun. On May 29, 2008, park officials confirmed that the attraction would be named Manta, and announced additional details about the attraction.
Construction of the roller coaster track and attraction buildings began in September 2008. Superior Rigging & Erection built the supports and track. The ride's layout was completed in December 2008, and construction on other parts of the roller coaster continued into early 2009. SeaWorld began previewing the attraction in early May 2009, before it was officially opened on May 22.

Don't look down they say, it's not scary if you don't look down they say, THIS FLIPN ROLLER COASTER FACES DOWN I SAID
Then close your eyes
Jenxy Martinez
That'll usually make you feel really nauseous.
I don't see the problem, it's just height. 🤷♂️
Sven Vogel
I diagnose you with
*gay*
@Pandaii -Chan - Umm... Ok.
The drop at 3:04 feels just awesome, best feeling on a roller coaster ever. Listen to his reaction in the few seconds after it. He's not kidding.
toddles9 is it scary? I’m very scared of roller coasters and I’m thinking of trying it.
PinkieCake Macaroon its a pretzel loop, they aren’t too scary, but it does force you into your seat
That was the scariest for me
PinkieCake Macaroon Definitely go on it if you have the chance. It's a very different experience that your typical coaster- you legit feel like you're flying (and that first loop just feels awesome)!
im going in 2 weeks and i want to know if i should go on it im going on mako idk about this one is the first drop really bad?
That loop is the scariest thing you will ever experience and I’m not kidding
FR!! You literally get forcefully pushed back against the seat and you feel like you're gonna slip out from the top lmao. But it's so fun
I believe you. Six Flags has a similar ride and the loop is the best. The g's are forceful
it's not a vertical loop it's a pretzel loop
Will it wasn’t that bad
I felt like I was gonna fly out the flipping seat 😭
I miss Florida so much. This ride is so awesome, I mostly love the parts where it twist you feel like your flying and that your Peter Pan no joke.
yes #LOL
peace castro how many inches for this ride?
Mayra Ontiveros just look it up.
I was on this ride a couple weeks ago with my best friend. We both agree it was awesome. I had only ridden one other flying coaster (Stealth at California's Great America), and this was definitely the better one.
peace castro. Trueeee😂 i went on that 3 times its so funnnn
Is it weird that I don't scream on coaster? instead I laugh uncontrollably the whole ride
I used to do that but now I learned screaming helps
Dark Dreemurr Me too!! It's not weird.
That's because your brain thinks that you're about to die, so it tells the body to release feel-good chemicals and hormones. You'll feel happy and satisfied, and you won't feel fear or pain. It's basically your brain and body giving up. When your happy, you tend to laugh. When you're really happy, you're going to laugh A LOT. It's like on those nature shows when the lion pounces of the gazelle. It struggles at first, but then it just lets the lion kill it. Or inhalants, where the body isn't getting enough oxygen and getting too many toxins, so your brain tells the body to release those feel-good hormones and chemicals, and thus being "high" is born. So technically you ARE terrified, just not exactly consciously.
Dark Dreemurr is it normal to just do nothing and not react even when it's a backwards vertical drop?
Dark Dreemurr same But I also shout out random phrases
I think the scariest part in my opinion, is when the ride is over and you’re waiting on the platform behind the loading area. Because you’re still facing the ground
@@hollyy6619 I thought ten min was bad
Facts! One day I waited for about 5 minutes because the car in front had a kid crying it took forever. But worth it at the end!
Those restraints hurt like a mf
you see the puke stains
Had to wait 30 mins at the end
I rode this in the front seat with my mom and a stranger and neither my mom or me had ever been on this but the stranger had and he said it wasn't scary but I was freaking scared as crap. And that was my experience
Nick Boles on the manta I passed out that much
i rode this when it was pretty brand new june 2009 and i somehow think my dad and i were in front row scariest part of ride the lift hill the rest was just awesome it was smooth and feel like flying very thrilling and different from most coasters i had been on. my tummy didn't churn. i mean i screamed a bit but laughed too was a lot of fun don't even need to grab on to restraints its funner with arms dangling i would love go back to the park for that ride as i only rode it once lines were real long. my trip to orlando in 2009 was my birthday gift/celebrate father's day with my dad he got discount because he was also doing a review of theme parks for his work. i got to give feedback too we were only down for a weekend and went to both the universal studios theme parks. seaworld was actually the surprise my dad told me he had for me after leaving the hotel to settle our stuff in. i was so excited. got to touch sting rays and feed/pet dolphins.i even had close encounter with flamingos one came up to fence and "said" hi to me i could actually touch his feathers so soft so cool.i don't know how much changes there were in penguin exhibit because i love penguins and when i went it was kinda lame attraction could barely see them.
c s tina bastaracha 8@ @ - - u7
Nick Boles I was so scared I felt like I was gonna pass out before then it was so fun
it's just like riding a hanglider
My sister urged me to go on this a couple years ago when i didn't like roller coasters, and i was so great, that i went on it twice and started riding roller coasters again!
it
Kaelyn Emily probably on that loop is different feeling than stomach dropping
Kaelyn Emily why did you stop riding rolet coasters?
Samee
+CosmicKitty I've never went on Manta because i don't like the loops on rollercoasters
Having the inversion at the bottom of the loop is one of the trippiest elements on any coaster I’ve been on
The loop when you have your body positioned like that, just hits different. I rode it like 10 times in a row
ProMustii_90x Pretzel loop
Don't eat anything before you go on this ride.
Yikes....
Do u talk from ex?
I ate cotton candy and i lost my tooth🙂
I did👌🤢
I did and i didnt puke but i was nauseous for the rest of the day
i love this ride cause i felt like i was genuinely secure and it felt like i was actually flying, i went 2 times and i could go again 😂
Yeah me too dude, its awesome!
Everytime I go to Seaworld, this ride is a MUST!
Swimmy Fish oh yeah for sure. It's the first coaster you see when entering the park lmao
some little girl in the background was FLIPPING OUT!!!!!!
Presley adams that would be me.
Uh I'm sorry that i was scared? Wait that might of not been me. Probably was tho
Sorry! I scream when going up because I hate the feelings of my inside being scrambled.
If she did it I can do it 😅
The inverted loop after the initial drop is such a crazy feeling!
Never go to an amusement park with your rollercoaster fanatic friends if you're terrified of them xD
MminutzZ I made that mistake in October. I went from Riding smaller little rides to riding the biggest one called the Goliath in a heartbeat! I had a panic attack and almost fainted! Owo
My rollercoaster friends went on with still make fun of me for crying like a baby on that ride..
I made that mistake like 3 times lol
@@GraveFogLight What park? there are 7 roller coasters named goliath
@@dangerdoge4113 It was a Six Flags, the one down in Georgia. It was a good while ago, but I remember well. I mean, it was a surprising amount of trauma-
@@GraveFogLight Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia isn't even that intense
This was hands down one of the BEST rollercoasters I’ve ever been on

2:12 is where they actually go on the ride. Your welcome guys.
AlyssaThePanda I was at that part right as I saw this comment XD
AlyssaThePanda thx
Thank you
You got 100 likes congrats
@@dannya4974 Omg same XD
Me and my sister when on this ride 3 times in a row while we waited for my mom to get out the restroom that’s how short the line was. It so outrageously fun
I was so incredibly scared because this was the first rollar coaster I’ve went one that goes upside down. Soooo much fun
You get negative gs on this ride actually
I consider myself a coaster connoisseur, yet this ride had me shitting my pants. The face down aspect makes it so much more thrilling.
Same I rode almost 100 coasters and this was probably the scariest one I’ve ridden
I like when people walk through themed lines it's quite enjoyable
Manta was an impressive ride. I've only been on it once, but I appreciated every second it was pretty cool.
i got jelly legs after riding this lmao was great 😁
yeah was bit weird feelin to walk for few mins after ride not a bad thing
tina bastarache nope not at all i mean that's what being a coaster junkie is all about ya get everything....it's awesome 😀
I felt like I could not stand but after we got slushes because it was hot in Orlando
Especially walking down the stairs, told my mom to slow down lmao
I bet you slept good that night😂
People are saying San Diego is better.... in Orlando you are literally on your stomach and back....
I been on the San Diego one, and seeing this video, Orlando has better Manta no question about it.
G 124 Orlando has the better one by far.
I can’t really compare because I haven’t been on it
@@hazelcookie7334 many is better I went on twice in a row and the line goes quick you should go
Yari 124 sea world Cali is the only good Cali park lol Disney Florida universal Florida all way better
Such a unique concept. Most roller coasters where you are lying down the seat reclines back. Since this picks you up all the inversions are like front flips instead of back flips making the G forces hit you in a different way. Truly magnificent ride
Andrew Adkins it’s not the only B&M Flyer, but one of the custom ones
Okay I must say right off the bat, that has to be the most AWESOME entrance to any coaster I have seen O_O I love the live fish aquarium too. And the fact that it's underground.
They removed the aquarium feature
It’s amazing, feels like you’re flying.
The ray tank at the beginning was my fave part. The rays are so cute!
Just rode this yesterday at SeaWorld (Orlando) and this is by far the best roller coaster I've been on. Awwwwwesome!!!!
That pretzel loop in the back row. Wowza! Literally forces the air out of your lungs!
I am so glad I live in Orlando! 😊
Gigi W. My nana lives in Florida!!!
Dang it I live in cali. I wish I could live in orlando they have EVERYTHING
Gigi W. Awesome I live an hour away from Orlando I may not live there but living close to it it's so cool the drive is definitely worth it
you don't wish you lived here
I'm so sick of these stupid palm trees and flat terrain
nothing special really
xkiwii I love the palm trees tho
That ride was fantastic
Not the most intense nor the fastest but I love this ride, I love the way it zips through the park and passes right through a bunch of landmarks. Its just such a fun ride and I love the loop where you go around upside down.. so good.
My son and I went on this ride several years ago. One of the coolest rides ever.
Love this ride! That first loop as you go down is insane!
Alana D Pretzel loop
Wow, even the queue is nice . I live two hours away from Orlando but I'm definitely riding this next month
just went on this ride today! it's so amazing! i rode it 7 times, probably the best ride ever!
This is my favourite roller costar of all time so far! It’s amazing!!!
This ride and mako are my favorite at sea word!
I stay true to the very first roller coaster I ever rode - *_KRAKEN_*
I remember riding on the EDGE 2 times,Ya see,The edge is were you feel it the most
I loved it.
This ride was so good my first go, Got straight back into queue to ride again. Loved it
THAT WAS SO AWESOME I went there twice because it was so lit
I whent to sea world and i have sacred because it gies upside down and stuff and i wached this and forced myslef to go on it and it was worth it
@Stupid Things That was 3 years ago chill out
This is ride was insane, i got on it 3 years ago. The aquarium inside was sick! A very underrated Rollercoaster
This ride is short but so fun!! It’s different that the other coasters because you’re on your stomach and back and it’s awesome :)
I'm going to sea world tomorrow
I peed myself on this ride😂😂😂
I probably would too 😂
Thought I would love it. The raven roll was so intense I couldn’t wait for it to be over
Just got back from a field trip where they let us to anything we wanted, the three roller coasters they have are absolutely incredible, it was an amazing trip
I am going to SeaWorld December 7. I wonder how busy it will be...I look forward to my visit! I have not been since 2008!
how was it?
It was everything I wanted it to be and it helped that even though I went during Christmas, it wasn't that busy. The park was busy, but the coasters had no wait. I rode this thing 100 times in two days.
+coaster crazy I went during Christmas too. Did you check out the dinner with Santa?
Love how there's this ambient music on the lift hill and then it sends you into a fury. Worst part is at 3:04.
That inversion is insane
The ride is so authentic because you can hear the beautiful mating calls of the seagulls every time you flip over.
As someone who's terrified of rollercoasters; this ride was the best thing I've ever experienced.
I actually ended up getting on this ride twice.
Try Kraken and Mako. Even better
Mako is honestly terrifying.
(I’m not a rollercoaster guy tho so that could be why I found it so scary)
wait what it's right instead of left the drop
+Carlos Jabdiel Pabon Due to the way I mounted my GoPro, the video is a mirror image of the ride.
+HDThrillSeeker I sware it goes to the right
yeah I was lik3 what
Yyyes unfortunately
If it goes to the right, then it's designed almost exactly like Tatsu
awe, i wanna go on this one :( sadly i don't live in florida
Omg, same!
I was laughing uncontrollably the whole time. and I felt so snug I didn’t wanna leave.
OH and my friend passed out and even then I just couldn’t stop laughing
This ride was epic. I think this one was my favorite one. This one is unique as since your secured on your stomach and the buckles grips tight it actually feels like your flying. If your calm enough to embrace it LOL. 😂
He was like, HaHa...Shit
LMFAO!
This is my favorite ride, who likes it as well?
I love it dont think its my fav
I live it it is my fav
Swimmy Fish Me. It's my favorite out of all the roller coasters at Sea World Orlando.
I went on this and it feels like you are flying its insane. Definitely my #1 all time roller coaster.
First coaster I rode once I got into the park. Great roller coaster! Rode it twice, just doesn’t seem to be long enough but very fun!
I hate going upside down. That's why I like Manta San Diego better.
I am sooo gonna sit on that ride
Have fun on your belly
thanks
i hope i do
😜
Wait did you go on it yet?
im reaching sea world in about .... 30 mins
this is my other account
I love the queue, my favorite part is the freshwater aquarium with the neon tetras and the Rays.
My family and I are planning to go here next summer and I’m really excited to go there! Especially for the coasters. 😁
tatsu superior race ;)
Looks that way in some aspects, but I like the color scheme of this one and the water jets leading ahead of the train look pretty sick! Haven't ridden manta but it looks awesome. :)
i’m scared but not scared at the same time. i’m going here soon any tips?
Yea don't eat before going on this ride
Raegan crate I hate the first loop it makes my
Stomach go up and and down 😂
Wow, I love it. Great video.
I went to SeaWorld in 2014.
It was amazing,it was dazzling!
I went to the SeaWorld from Orlando too
I have a choice between Sea World and Disney World. Which do you prefer?
Filthy Criminal if your going with your family and little kids go to Disney if it’s just teens and adults go to this park
No universal studios Florida
I’ve never been to SeaWorld, but I have been to Disney. So I pick Disney.
DISNEY WORLD!! I'M OBSESSED!
Why is the coaster mirrored all of a sudden
xXDuKe22Xx That’s how the camera worked.
I miss this ride😭😭the last time I rode it was like 5 years ago but I still remember it and ik it was awesome 😭
The frontwards loop was so unexpected the first time i rode this, I've been on the fastest and loopiest coasters in the world, but experienced nothing like the forwards loop on this one. I wont spoil it too much but this is an absolute must, a world class coaster you NEED to try, absolutely unforgettable.
I prefer San Diego because it's less frightening
Tedious Totoro Well Manta in San Diego is a family coaster, while Manta in Orlando is a flying coaster. Basically they're way different from eachother.
Tedious Totoro this ride wasn't scary, I'm only in fifth grade and I loved it
Tedious Totoro I've only been on San Diego's and it's awesome!
OOF Orlando will always be the BEST SEAWORLD(sucks to be y'all, I go there every Saturday,
LIKE if u agree
I remember when I was 8 and I went on this. Best experience of my life.
that looks amazing 😍
ORLANDO IS SO LUCKY TO HAVE A BEAST SEAWORLD UNLIKE SAN DIEGO ITS SO BS
Cringy Songs YT Meh both thrilled me about the same.
Same i live near sea world in san diego and everything SUCKS
It's exactly the same as the super man at six flags
GP
This was my first ever roller coaster that ever been on and it was so fun
this coaster looks terrifyingly awesome
At least Orlando doesn't have the small show in the beggening so San Diego is better
Lamboempire San Diego's one is so shit
Andrés Ortega at least someone agrees with me.
octoburp go to the POV video in San Diego, thousands of people agree with you
Lamboempire Bro, Orlando's is better without question.
San Diego is better
Josh Gamer not for coasters
Josh Gamer If you’re wanting to retire🤣🤣😂😂.
Josh Gamer Stop.
Awesome video,thanks
I was weeping on this
Added to the bucket list
I’ve been to this ride before. I cried at the end. It went from laughing 😂 to crying 😭
This was my first ever roller coaster I ever rode on and by far this ride scared me more than the kracken.
Loved this ride
I love this ride so much and I'm going to sea world today :)
omg that roller coaster i went on the first seat with my dad, my stepmum and my sis and it was so good, we did that roller coaster 15 times, it was awesome
I LOVE THIS ROLLER coaster
This is a good ride!
I can't wait to ride this this October
This was my first rollercoaster ever!!
