- I decided to explain some stuff I've learned while studying kingdom hearts for 11 Months.
Someone needed to say that Sokai and Soriku don't conflict with eachother.
So I guess Its gotta be me!
I still belive Soriku is real but Sokai might also be real.

Based video. I appreciate a SoRiku video that can acknowledge the validity and impact of SoKai. I feel like SoRikus feel as though SoKai contradicts SoRiku because it would mean that Sora didn't really love Riku, but that's not true! the existence of a bi Sora is not an inherent threat to the SR ship. Not at all.
Also, thank you for acknowledging how silly it is that we're all obsessed with who Sora gets with. People forget that it's entirely possible that Sora will end the series having no love interest at all. I'd imagine that that's the most plausible, actually.
I really appreciate this video. I'm a big Soriku fan, but I also know that the series puts Sokai firmly in text, and all Soriku has at the moment is subtext. There is a lot of subtext, but it is still not stated plainly like Sokai is. The only thing I really want from the series is gay representation in the form of Riku, and text confirming that in future titles. I would be happy with just that.
Thank you so much. I've been bothered lately with how little Sokai gets talked about nowadays. From day one I always saw it as Sokai and despite how basic and plain the pairing is, it brings me so much joy seeing them two together that it's kind of silly.
As I begun getting more into the series, I've also seen why Soriku is a possibility and the momments they share together can be seen as potential pairing. I've even liked the idea of all 3 of them being together at one point.
But what I don't like is when it starts to deny the obvious relationship between Sora and Kairi, take scenes about Kairi and make it about Soriku, strip Kairi of whatever development she has, in favor of making Soriku the one and only valid ship. Things like Kairi isn't Sora's light, but its actually been Riku this whole time, even though its been established since the first game she was. Instead of having the momment where Kairi does her best to keep Sora alive and saves him, its interpreted as Sora realizing he's with the wrong person and that Riku is the one that should be in that momment. It feels quite disrespectful to Kairi like she's just a stand in for Riku, nothing important to the story whatsoever in that light.
Seeing theories like that pop around have me questioning if I have I really been wrong all this time. Like, am I the odd one here thinking that they were in love, have I been invested in this series with the wrong mindset this wholetime? Which one is the right one? Why can't it be just both and have everyone get thier happy ending, you know?
So a video like this is exactly what I needed. Both shippings need to validated, not torn apart because it contradicts one ship from the other. I hope Sora, Riku, and Kairi get more screentime together in the next arc, because there's just so much possibility here.
Personally, SoKai existing doesn't change much about my SoRiku headcanon. It makes even more sense why Sora has difficulty understanding love when he is not only struggling with heteronormativity but also trying to differentiate between genuine romantic feelings for two different people. I'm gay myself but I feel like bi Sora is better supported by the work.
Riku: The gay
Sora: The Bi
Kairi: The Straight
I have always seen their relationship as Kairi's boyfriend and Sora's boyfriend Riku.
Slight correction. Riku wants to leave the islands because of Young Xehanort. Riku explains to Terra about him, and Terra has a vision of young man Xehanort, and then future Riku. Because Terra becomes Apprentice Xehanort and then Xemnas and Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, Terra can have visions of what Riku will look like after Ansem SOD possessed him. Terra is the Guardian after all, and Heart connection, especially by those who have released their Heart, transcend Time and Space.
It is implied Riku lied about Kairi being the Catalyst of Riku's ideas in an attempt to continue to coax her into going along with the raft plan, as well as to stoke Sora's need to look up and be protected by Riku. (Jealously)
SoRiKai would be peak bisexual, polyamorous representation. HARD AGREEEEEEE 🩷🩷🩷
No
Yes
@@frisk8632 no, poly isnt a sexual orientation keep your head canons to yourself. Thats just weird period. And plus there still teenagers, you’re gross 🤢
Yes but also no like Riku hasn't shown any feelings for Kairi but Kairi and Riku have feelings for Sora so it would be more of an open relationship instead of a polygamous because sure Kairi and Riku have mutual feelings for Sora but not for eachother. But Sora he probably likes both. Not to say Riku can't have feelings for Kairi but Kairi's indifferent about Riku while Riku only seems to care about Sora in a romantic sense either way if it ends up with ot3 then cool. But if it don't then that's also okay. I just think Kairi and Riku would need more time to develop for the ot3 side
@@evaundertale2247 you do realize that's still a polygamous relationship
It's just that poly relationships have multiple dynamics
One girl who is loved by two boys
Two girls love that one boy
Girl A is loved by Girl B and Boy
Boy A is loved by Boy B and Girl
Then there's the options of all of the participants being in love with each other
The list goes on
I really like your "The Truth About" video series. SUBSCRIBED!
Hey, please don't go around saying "SoRikus hate Kairi for getting in the way/useless/etcetc". It's a misconception & a lot of us are really tired of hearing that same lie keep going around
Sure, some are bored of her cuz of her writing, or some do actually hate her for whatever reason (I kno I used to hate her cuz I thought Nomura was giving her everything without her having to work for it, but I don't think that after learning how Nomura writes stories)
But most of us are fine with her. Some even come up with better analysis & theories n stuff that ppl who love her seem to ignore (& I don't really blame Kairi lovers for that; they just wanna enjoy a character they like & they don't need a deep reason for it). Thinking it's a SK vs SR war vastly misunderstands what's been going on in the fandom since the KH2 era. I've been around A LOT. & the shit I've seen when I wasn't even a full on SoRiku fan but still enjoyed the ship dynamic, was BRUTAL. It's not fun. It's why I cling to SoRiku instead of SoRiKai nowadays. Most of the SoKai fans I would come across would tell me vile things just for enjoying a ship, as I'm sure you've seen in your comment section before. Not all SoKai fans, mind you. Just a lot of loud ppl who refuse to believe the possibility of gay. I've had to spent so much time blocking ppl so they would stop attacking me & my friends over a harmless ship. I've been casted out of my own KH group that I co-owned, just cuz the ppl didn't want me there unless it was cuz I was pretty girl. It's not fair. I'm so tired as I'm sure a lot of us are
& this isn't to say this vid is bad. I didn't even get to watch the vid yet even tho I'm super interested to hear what you have to say! I'm just tired of ppl acting like "it's both sides" when SoRiku shippers just want to have fun in the fandom just like anyone else would want to. Anyway, Ima continue watching the vid now. Sorry for another long af comment agxhdjd
Ok, back lol Tbh, I DO think Sora loves Kairi. I don't kno in what way, & that's ok. Even tho I don't think you're 100% correct (which ofc, is the point lol we can't kno currently & it's possible we'll never kno), I still really appreciate this take on the dynamics here!
Sora's a character easy to project onto, so a lot of the time ppl tend to see him as their own sexuality. Not all ofc cuz I kno a lot of bi/pan peeps that think he's just gay, or gay/ace. I personally think he's ace & in love with Riku, but idk anything more than that. I can't wait to see where the story goes!
No it is true you'll come up with fan theory that remove ANY achievement or action that beside her reverting heartless sora back to sora(because it's impossible to make that about riku)
Cocoa catnip's "fixing sokai" video is all about giving her less agency in their dynamic an making sora be more misogynistic towards kairi🙄
Violet holwer kairi video(the video title is: "Constructing Kingdoms - Episode 08: The Girl Who Never Grew Up") inferior to mistress doves video(the videos title is: "Kairi Is Amazing and Here Is Why - Mistress Dove") on kairi in terms of analyzing her character and her story, thought bubble's "psychology of kairi" is more accurate an it was released before violet holwers
@@SharksGamingCorner hey, no we have something for that scene too AGZGSHDH
But seriously, we really don't. You can look at how long she's on scene in each game & it's no where near the time of Sora & Riku. It's not our fault we like the dynamic of the 2 main characters of the series, in which all the higher ups making the game have stated the series is about. I kno why you're saying we give what Kairi does to Riku, the Sleeping Realm Theory, which isn't even what the theory says. It's about how BOTH of them saved Sora, ppl just only catch Kairi cuz it's a puzzle piece purposely given to us
It's our reading & you're just gonna hafta deal with that. If you're not gonna even try to understand what we're talking about, fine, but stop going around acting like you do. Leave us alone
Honestly, I've had this thought for a long time. How Sora DID love Kairi but it changed. Because Nomura did say that KH3 was about how relationships change over time, sooo....
I still have high hopes for the future.
I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. More than half of romantic relationships end in a breakup/divorce. Romance seems like an ugly thing.
I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.
It does seem that nearly all fathers and mothers are hoping that their daughter never dates or get married and remain single for her whole life. Romantic relationships seem like a bad thing since there is a lot of dangers when it comes to them.
The overprotective father/mother thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and this world would be a much better place without them.
If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, fathers and mothers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughter ever dating if that ever happened.
I'm not against subtext or the possibility of gay characters. What I don't like is that the Western audience does not seem to realize that Sora's relationship with Kairi and his relationship with Riku are written from a Japanese cultural perspective. That's why I think that it is disingenuous for Soriku and Sokai fans to not consider the cultural perspective these relationships are written from.
Sora's bromance with Riku is accurate to young male friendships in Japan, neither character is gay, which is a Western assumption forced on the characters.
Sora's romantic relationship with Kairi is just as accurate to Japanese culture. If a boy and girl like each other they don't just casually mention it, and outside of holding hands PDA is rare. Even hand-holding is done in careful consideration of feelings.
Ship who you want but I wish both sides would stop trying to discredit the other especially when neither is likely viewing either relationship through the Japanese lens in which scenes are written.
Sora absolutely does love both Riku and Kairi and his behavior with both fits pretty accurately with how Japan navigates these dynamics.
@JustinW332 I think Cloud's feelings for Aerith are that of a very strong friendship that can also be seen as romantic by the player because with that relationship they left room for narrative interpretation in this manner.
Cloud and Tifa's romantic love whether OG or re-trilogy is not open to interpretation, it is part of the internal and external plot of FF7 and baked into their characterization at a core level.
FF7 fans have spent nearly 30 years having rather pointless arguments because they think that the affection mechanic changes the plot with regard to Cloud's feelings, it doesn't.
