Long time coming... I recorded this several years ago but the footage was slightly over 12h so it was too long for RUclips. I wanted to split it up later on but my HDD died so I lost it. Good thing tho cuz this run is 3 hours faster so I must’ve really sucked back then. I’m proud of this run as it’s practiced in 5-15 minute segments so there’s almost no navigation mistakes and I also don’t open the map as much since I play by memorization. This is a 100% longplay for item pickups because it grants you the best ending. People will always bitch about not doing all of the scans but I don’t want to bother with those because nobody is comin here to read a bunch of text... and the scans arent necessary for the true ending contrary to popular belief. Anyways great game. The final Metroid was the only part I didn’t practice so I was clueless for a few minutes and could’ve saved myself a minute or two if I just re-recorded that whole part including the boss before that. But fuck it.. I’m ready for the ‘worst player ever’ comments. Had fun. Also by far the fastest longplay on the youtube. Peaceoutbye Please note that the timecodes show the route to the item described, so the "Space Jump Boots" start right after the boss fight for the previous item... it doesn't show the exact second of picking up the item as that wouldn't make much sense for a timecode and isn't helpful at all for those who use this as a guide. Ofcourse all the bosses are timecoded from the point where they appear. Most of the items are unlocked through boss fights so that should also help you navigate through this video a bit better hopefully.
If you make a re-recording of the 1st Metroid Prime you may want to consider labeling the old video '(PAL Version)' when using the NTSC version, since there are some differences between the two versions, appearantly. That way you won't have to re-upload the PAL version.
I always forget how much attention to detail and artistry went into the Prime series. It's a tragedy they never sold particularly well, but for those of us that played the series we experienced a great trilogy.
They did well enough to grant 3 games and a 4th one soon, luckily this is a series that goes to show just because it doesn't sell well, doesn't mean it can't continue.
to this day I've never seen a shooting game capable of this level of storytelling while never saying a word. The first Metroid Prime game didn't even have dialogue, all of the story was told through scanning the environment and reading lore entries.

I'm thinking all 3 will get one eventually. Prime 2 definitely will especially with the success of the recent release. @RepoManZilla I completely agree. I finished corruption once just to say I did. But got 100% on prime and never got the 100% on echoes. Maybe one day...
I had a GameCube and started playing Prime in 2008 but went to college and never finished it. A few months ago I dug up my old GameCube and played Prime from the beginning and beat it 14 years after I first played it. Ordered Prime 2 a couple weeks ago and am addicted. Probably going to order a Wii and Prime 3 next
The intro (before the actual main menu) never ceases to amaze me. It captures the entire essence of the Metroid series and gets you ready for the literal darkness this game is. I cannot even imagine how the Prime 4 intro is going to be, geez.
Its hilarious to see a game from 2004 with this much gameplay complexity and outstanding graphics run in 60fps on native hardware, Nintendo was really ahead of the curve.
@Israel Pedassou They're okay, they only make handhelds because the 3DS sold well and the WiiU didn't. There aren't many exclusives even for the Switch, and they rely on old ports with the excuse of portability, which is fair to an extent. They aren't high and mighty anymore, and their legal team is bloodthirsty.
Absolute masterpiece! Thanks for this...I first played this as a 10 year old and I still remember the creepy dark vibes I got from this game....I later finished this game in high school with the trilogy...have to say it is one of my favorites...
Samus really should start storing some copies of her weapons in her spaceship... this is already the second time she lost them in the blink of an eye, and it's a miracle they left her with her Varia Suit, Morphball and charge shot at least this time...
@@maytheprincessofhoenn619 Or just the cliché being brought to its logical conclusion. Though, to be fair, a stealth section a la zero mission could be a nice segment in mp4, if implemented properly.
I recently became a fan of Metroid since the release of Metroid Prime Remastered. I completed the game in 3 weeks, and now I am desperate for 2,3, and 4 to release on switch.
Btw, for future reference, shooting a light beacon with the annihilatior beam compels all Ing in the area to run into it, and the power it's charged with instantly kills them.
Never could beat this hard SOB !!! Still have it though. I kept getting confused where to go and what to do near the end. That going back and forth between worlds is confusing as Hell !!!
It can be confusing at times on your first playthrough & even for it's replay value. I don't like how most of the areas of the game that mostly straightforward with some linearity in progression & doesn't have the impact of exploration compared to what makes Prime 1 so good in the first place. Yeah. Prime 1 has the ammount of backtracking that can be tedious at times of going to the same areas over & over again & Prime 2 substract it by halve, until the Sky Temple Key hunt anyways. But what saves Prime 1 grace is that there's alot of secret rooms that has more items to fetch & shortcuts that doesn't take you in an long distant travels with the Speed Boost & others to travel fast enough, whereas Prime 2; even with the Speed Boost & other tools, kinda goes exactly the same way with no shortcuts to take. There might be, but I didn't think about it because I've been traveling in an same route that I keep forgetting that there's an another room to travel through in which I could've had an easier time remembering. Plus the whole backtracking thing has been part of the concept in every single Metroid game. So I don't know why people love to complaint about backtracking in Prime 1 when that's been an thing since the first Metroid game. Guess it's because it's there first Metroid title they played. I don't know. I also think the environment & the variety of both Light and Dark Aether worlds could've been alot better ( Though, Sanctuary Fortress looks amazing. ). And while I appreciate the new stuff they added to make the game more interesting, they're not really as simplistic as Prime 1 has & some of them are hard to find because of the location they're hiding in that's so easy to miss; especially from the likes of the Dark Temple Keys & Sky Temple Key hunt. Prime 2 is probably the only Prime game where I needed the hint system on where I need to locate. Now I'm not ditching on Prime 2 that offers. I love Prime 2 & I thinks it's an great game compared to Prime 1 or any Metroid games & it might be in my top 5. I just prefer Prime 1 or any other Metroid games more so I can have an easier time with those games than I had with Prime 2.
@@jjc4924 Linearity isn't bad in itself. It takes mastery to pace your game properly and design it in a way that the player doesn't get too confused while still maintaining those AHA moments of figuring out where to go (to clarify things i played both games with the hint system off). It's easier to just put items in random locations in vast open world and artificially lenghten your game. Still MP2 had still quite a bit of backtracking and hidden items imo. Also, yes MP1 backtracking was waaay more tedious than MP2 (and that's coming from someone who played the shit out of GBA metroids + super + AM2R). In fact MP2 had a world that was more interconnected while MP1 had you go over those damn Magmoor caverns 100000 times. In addition to that MP2 added a lot more bosses (the lack of which was one of my main problems whith MP1) and the light-world dark-world gimmick while it wasn't used as well as i hoped it would be (especially in regards of puzzle solving) still gave it a unique tone among the other games of the series.
Adnel. I understand. But here's the thing. Metroid is mostly about non-linearty and worlds that are connected to each other that you have to figured out where to go or what to do and which way you think it's the easiest way & there are times to where you have to backtrack to an area that you never witnessed before. And it gave you an option. Key word: " Option ". All of that you have to figured out on your own without any help. I don't mind having an game telling me where to go next just as long as I have more freedom that I wanted to explore & not be so forced. Which is why I think games liked Fusion & especially Other M kinda miss that opportunity. ( Not saying Fusion & Other M are bad games because of it reminding you. But they don't feel like an Metroidvania style of an game. ) And while Prime 2 does have your time for freedom at times, others times your just going back & forth to talk to the surviving alien being on where to go next, than onwards to the next area & via versa for about at least 2 more times. I kinda wish that we talked to the alien surviver about the planet, than tells us about going to all the areas to light up the Dark & Light Aethers in one sitting & than come back to do the Sky Temple, which could've make the backtracking at the end less annoying. Plus while I liked the idea of traveling to the Dark & Light World of Aether, I wish it's execution could've been alot better on how you pursue it & better ways to travel. And while Aether seemed like they're connected to the areas of the game, I don't find them memorable because of the pacing that I've been gone through; even if they were an connection, I just don't remember where they are because they looked almost the same. And you can say the same about Tallon 4 from Prime 1. But at the very least, it was so precise since I'm traveling in my own will & I know exactly where to go, even with the amount of backtracking that you'll be doing. And while going through Magmoor Cavern can be an hassle since you'll be traveling around it so many times, it makes sense since it's part of the core of the planet & connected to other areas in Tallon 4 ( With the exception of the Impact Crater. ). So it doesn't bother me that much. Plus there other areas that are connected to each other like the Tallon Overworld to Chozo Ruins, Phazon Mine connected to the Tallon Overworld & so on. And yes. Linearity isn't always an bad thing. But as long as I have my free will to explore & not being forced and if the areas aren't that straightforward, than that's fine. I'm just demonstrating on how Metroid games worked since the beginning.
@@jjc4924 Well yes that was exactly my problem with prime 1, it forced you to backtrack a lot to get essential items to progress in the game while prime 2 removed a lot of that tedious backtracking and presented a world map that was more interconnected (ala Dark Souls) giving you the choice to explore the world for upgrades. The only time it forced you to backtrack was to get the powerbombs in Torvus and then again they gave the player a shortcut to go back to the Sanctuary fortress without having to go back through the temple grounds another time. While i'l agree that the temple grounds and the agon wastes are samy and get confusing at first, i found MP2 to be less confusing than MP1. MP2 broke down its world to a bunch of areas that work independantly while connecting to one another while Prime 1 considered its game as a huge 3D playground which a lot of players loved about it but which also made it easier for me to get lost in it my experience. When i say linearity i actually consider the 2D metroids (yes even super) to be more linear than people make them out to be. There is one intended path to finnish the game (not counting sequence breaks) and the player is helped to find it via subtle design hints while, as you said, still giving them the option to go around and explore to encounter secrets and find upgrades. That's what a good metroidvania experience is as far as i'm concerned, and i think MP2 nailed it better than MP1.
Adnel. And that ia fine. Also, you forgot to mentioned that you also have to backtrack in every area for the Sky Temple Keys. Which is personally one of my least favorite part of the game. I understand where your coming from & that's fine. But you have to realized that this is Metroid we're talking about & what the series represents that others titles took this " Metroidvania " style into. I do agree that the backtracking in Prime 2 is less tedious than the first Prime game ( until the Sky Temple Keys hunt anyway ). But that doesn't make Prime 1's exploration that bad. Just something that u have to get over it. The only Metroid games that I found linear are Fusion, Prime 3, Samus Returns & Other M. But Prime 3 & Samus Returns at least have u an option of exploration at times, while Fusion & especially Other M are forcing you to go for the most part. The rest that I don't find anything linear about it. I guess it's because the areas are more straightforward without an branches for multiple paths or something. Not saying any Metroid games have multiple branches because they do. So I guess that's why you think of it that way.
I grew up playing many metroids thanks to my uncle. He would get me metroid games every christmas, it was how we bonded. But metroid prime 2, I was incredibly thankful they added a multiplayer. I played the hell out of this with my buddies
I appreciate the challenge. But I do think they went an little bit overboard with it. I still love Prime 2 though. I don't know if I like it more than the first Prime game or any Metroid games in general. But it's in my top 5 at the least.
Agreed on the "phenomenal" statement. However the game wasn't that difficult, as always with Nintendo. Maybe the first fight against Dark Pirates on Hard mode, where you can get destroyed quite rapidly under their crossfire, the Boost Guardian, which is arguably one of the toughest fights (maybe even THE toughest), along with the Spider Guardian, and the Quadraxis Boss Fight which happens on a room without any safe spot (although it's not that hard as you get healing items along the way). The Emperor Ing was tricky as well, but doable after playing up to this point. Dark Samus isn't a problem unless you take too much time (or don't know that she's invulnerable on certain situations). All in all it was generally the same as MP1 in terms of difficulty, but the puzzle/navigation/item recovery system got upped critically and that was a good thing.
Adnane. Maybe. Though, they're some puzzles, items, sidequest fetch & other things that are annoying & tedious to find as well that you may pass up because of there dumb location that you couldn't think it's there. Especially with the Dark Temple Keys & Sky Temple Keys at the endgame. Not all of them. But there's about halve of it.
@@jjc4924 One can find it dumb or tricky, but that's the point of a quest to have to look in the weirdest places, and having a hard time finding objects, or search a one place another time with better equipment; otherwise it would be too easy and boring (best example I can tell from the top of my head is Star Fox Adventures, or should I say Star Fox Travel Guides). In the same manner, Zelda games have been notoriously famous for their water-themed levels, that are extremely challenging built with puzzles and mechanisms that are not to take lightly (especially in Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess) !! It has always been like that on that kind of games, and it's even harder on some other games like Uncharted, Dishonored and many more. To beat that kind of twisted challenges, you have to be even more twisted than the people who created them !
People told me to go look at your channel and the first thing that popped up was this vid so I watched some of I and then I told my self "you know what, I'm going to get my GameCube and play this masterpiece of a game and use is vid as a guide" so thanks for the vid and your channel
This game was such a beautiful and dark memory in my life. I remember getting it for my birthday and just how lost I got in its world. The first Metroid prime was wonderful but something about this one just makes me feel so emotional with how beatific every aspect of it was. Even the the sky city based area where it was all robotic was just so gorgeous.
They may have had constraints or the idea for how to implement it may not have come to them untill this game. The first one had a lot of wide open areas but I think they may not have thought about it at that time.
@@valoriejane2913 The first game didn't have any cliffs, or bottomless pits. I guess they had reservations about how they would implement more difficult platforming, and decided against it because they already had the map drawn out.
I always loved metroid prime 2 echoes. I use this video to watch something that does not requiere attention from me, unlike a movie or series, it relaxes me and help me sleep. I do not know how many times I watched this video, but it is a lot!! And I will keep watching. Thanks.
Satisfied... after watching your playthrough of the first installment of Metroid Prime...your "gameplay storytelling" is on point! Worth watching entire playthrough. Thanks for sharing!
Man it's nostalgic seeing this game. I've played it over the years, starting over every time. It's my favorite of the three prime games. I'm the only one in my family to beat it since my dad got stuck at the boost ball boss. I always get stuck or lost but I still enjoy it. I wish this game had the same amount of attention Prime 1 had. I'm probably just rambling about the game but it was my favorite of the trilogy. I hope Prime 4 is able to bring back that sense if nostalgia playing these games. I hated the boost ball the most besides the spider ball boss, and that boost ball boss, it took me 11 TRIES to beat it. I hope nobody is offended by my preference, it's just what I like. Sorry if I started rambling it's just that the memories start to flood my head playing this game when I was younger.
Not offended at all! I LOVED every Prime game. For some reason, I found the boost ball guardian SUPER easy. Beat it first try and within like 10-15 minutes.
Oh god. That boost ball boss. How much i hated this boss. I had no big problems with all other bosses in the metroid prime series. But that boost ball bastard... shit, it took so many tries to beat him. Maybe 2-3 days. I went half crazy. And i remember i never wanted to play this game again after i finished it becaus of that boss. But then, i played it again after a couple of years. I was so afraid when i hat to fight him again. But i did beat him after the second time. Haha i was super happy😄😄😄 i still don't know why i had no problem the second time. Probably luck.
Hey, I just finished my first run, and thank you so much for this guide!! I was playing the game in black and white due to my TV being 50Hz (the game is supposed to be 60Hz) so I was clueless and I kept missing stuff, but thanks to this I’ve got 100% pickups. You did a great run, 7 hours seems amazing to me (I did it in roughly 30 hours lol). I think it’s kind of hard game for the first time, but it’s not too cruel (especially when you don’t have energy left after a boss, a saving point is never too far). Really loved the dimensions thing. I’ll definitely be nostalgic about that in the future! Thanks again.
damn really! i only played the first and im gonna try metroid 2 on the higher res mod for dolphin. i hope it runs well cuz i really wanna play it in hd 😯
I hate how recently I felt so nostalgic and decided to pull out my GameCube along with Metroid Prime 1 & 2, only to find the disc for Metroid prime 2 is broken. So sad.
This literally makes me shed tears on just how beautiful the opening of the OST is in Echoes. the soundtrack in this game is unforgettable and extremely memorable. Retro studios and Nintendo really hit home with this one.
Another amazing Metroid game if I do say so. I don't know if I like it more than the first Prime game or any Metroid games in general. But it's in my top 5 favorite Metroid games at the least & one of the best in the series. While it has some things that I don't particularly like & could've slighty make the game more tolerable; for the most part, there's many good stuff that I can appreciate. I love this game alot.
Just playing through this right now and honestly, it is one of the biggest mixed bags I’ve experienced in a game. Absolutely love traversing the light world. Super fun, creative with all the immersion that Prime 1 had which is one of my favourite games ever. However, I absolutely despise the Dark world, Metroid is all about exploration, finding new equipment and testing out that equipment in the world to discover new weapons, puzzles upgrades etc. I can’t help but question y they made a world where not only are you effectively punished for exploring, but on top of that if you want to heal, most of the time, it’s just sitting in those healing pods and just waiting which works against everything that’s good about a Metroid game. Put it simply, for me, exploring the Light World is fun, exploring the Dark World just isn’t
This. I'm playing through it for my first time and hate how slow you heal in the dark world. If you are really low on health you could go take a shit in the time it takes to regen it all lol
If you're waiting a long time to heal in light pods, you're playing it wrong. Get good or get health from loot/enemies. I enjoyed the vulnerability a lot. To me as a kid it was downright scary. And in the later stages of the game, you get a suit which allows you more time in the atmosphere, long story short, it's great
I completely understand your feelings and agree with your feedback. At least on the personal part. I personally never saw the toxic atmosphere of Aether being a con to the game's unraveling. On the contrary, it was an original addition to the Metroid universe, where there was only physical hazard before (spikes, lava, acid); on top of that, it was a good way to make the player feel what the Luminoth had to face before and suffer a significant strain to deal with. That, along with some pretty tough segments (Boost Guardian, Spider Guardian, Quadraxis etc) and locations layout, made it a surprisingly difficult game to complete on certain ways, which was somehow unusual for a Nintendo game. Especially on Hard and Hyper Modes. The healing process wasn't really a problem, as said before, since the loot is ubiquitous and adapts to Samus' health level. All in all it was a fantastic journey.
I think that they could've done something like Zelda: A Link to the Past & Link Between Worlds did where they have different themes in the Dark World than the Light Worlds and not always be toxic. For example, Agon Waste is an sand world in the Light World. But what if the Dark World of Agon Waste is an snowy world? Or Torvus Bog is an swamp level in the Light World. But it can be an volcanic land in the Dark World. That probably would've made the Dark World more interesting.
i remember playing Metroid prime as a little kid, and it was SOOOO HARD, i never beat it. I'm an adult now and i always thought it was the original metroid prime that i was playing, but every time i watched gameplay i couldn't remember any of it. I just realized today that it was metroid prime 2 that i was playing. AND HOLY SHIT THIS BROUGHT BACK SO MANY MEMORIES.
Dude same. I’m happy I found out. I was watching remastered prime play throughs wondering “I must have been really far in the game” because I didn’t remember anything. Started watching this vid and it’s like a nostalgia blast
I just finished this 100% a while ago. I kinda went into it thinking it was gonna be worse than Prime 1 but near the end at fortress, I thought it was almost just as good if not better than Prime 1! I'm really happy I got a Gamecube to experience these prime games, and thanks for the reccomendations all those months ago :)
LOOK INTO MY EYES I also felt like prime 2’s atmosphere felt different and unique. It steered away from the typical environments you’d find in every metroid game. Also, new suits and beams were the cherry on top for me.
What makes the Ing even more terrifying is the fact that its heavily implyed that they evolved from Phaz-Ing the phazon variant if Inglets encountered late in Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, its rumored that when the Leviathan crashed into Aether and toar open the rift that created the Dark Dimension, the Phaz-Ing on the said Leviathan we're some either Altered by the rift that created the Dark Dimension or simply evolved due to Dark Aethers Atmosphere from beings Phazon to beings of Dark Matter. In other words if another Leviathan we're to have crashed into Aether before the evebts of Corruption it would basically be history repeating itself.

Hi LongplayArchive, great walkthrough of an amazing game! Just a little tip for ya when dealing with the Rezbits in the Sanctuary Fortress lol! A simple charged up DARK.BEAM shot, followed by a missile is all you need to take down those bastards!
8:44:19 one thing really concerns me with this fight. Why can't the player seem to use the annihilator beam as much? It's effective against both dark and light and much easier for this emperor ing fight
Well yeah he/she may have the experience and that person may know what he/She is doing, but that still doesn't mean that that person really needs to use the annihlator beam often for the mutated phase though. I eventually learned so doing this as well. But he/she like you said could be saving it up though. Just a suggestion from me but this person has played this game a long time ago so there's that

Had fun. Also by far the fastest longplay on the youtube. Peaceoutbye
Please note that the timecodes show the route to the item described, so the "Space Jump Boots" start right after the boss fight for the previous item... it doesn't show the exact second of picking up the item as that wouldn't make much sense for a timecode and isn't helpful at all for those who use this as a guide. Ofcourse all the bosses are timecoded from the point where they appear. Most of the items are unlocked through boss fights so that should also help you navigate through this video a bit better hopefully.
All the scans aren't necessary? You just saved me a ton of grief.

@@JuanCurmina I was 19 when I played it back in 2004, absolute masterpiece.
This game is pretty dark. In terms of atmosphere, it is much more isolated feeling than the original Prime
Well now you can
Its hilarious to see a game from 2004 with this much gameplay complexity and outstanding graphics run in 60fps on native hardware, Nintendo was really ahead of the curve.

Btw, for future reference, shooting a light beacon with the annihilatior beam compels all Ing in the area to run into it, and the power it's charged with instantly kills them.

One of the most underrated games in history
This gams deserves the same remastered treatment the first game got. An amazing title.
I grew up playing many metroids thanks to my uncle.
He would get me metroid games every christmas, it was how we bonded.
But metroid prime 2, I was incredibly thankful they added a multiplayer.
I played the hell out of this with my buddies
This game is phenomenal, even though the difficulty is cranked up way higher than it should be.
For me this is even better than Super Metroid and Metroid prime 1

Thank you so much for the wonderful memories
Well said.. I totally agree.

My favorite prime game, underrated
Unpopular opinion, MP2 is the best in the trilogy.
It is the best one. Prime 1 lovers like to forget that the amount of backtracking in it is criminal. Prime 2 improved on it in every way.
LOOK INTO MY EYES I also felt like prime 2’s atmosphere felt different and unique. It steered away from the typical environments you’d find in every metroid game. Also, new suits and beams were the cherry on top for me.

@@longplayarchive I mean you did 9 hours of full concentration, this is a perfectly fine run. I replay the game on the span of four days(Agon, Torvus, Sanctuary, the rest of the collectible+final boss).
I miss this game, I wish I never gave it away
Used to get scared playing this as a little kid and it still scares me till this day just because of the zombie aliens and the atmosphere. And I have those thoughts of those aliens corpse coming back alive that it just scares me.
One of the mot definitive games ever in the entire history of gaming. It's more a First Person Action Adventure but still flippin amazing.
I am glad I gave this series another chance. I'm an old school 2d metroid fan and mothballed the prime series. After DREAD I gave the prime series another chance. I definitely did not appreciate this series back then. Some of the best games ever💯💯💯
I dont know why this popped up on my recommended but thanks I played the crap outta this great though I always forgot a few mid boss scans when they morphed into something else
Dark beam was sorta of an ICE beam, light beam was sort of a wave beam. Eclipse was sort of a plasma beam
RUclips having the most replayed system is great because I see starting at 2:46:38 the music in the submerged temple is the reason because it is just so so good.
Oh, hey, cool, the Space Pirates use a slightly remixed version of their battle theme from the first game. :D
How do the luminoth know Samus?
Are her efforts well known or perhaps, while she was young she and the Chozo met the luminoth?
I watch the whole thing, great interesting, epic, scary adventure gameplay movie 👏👏👏👏
Best and hardest Metroid Prime games
The fact that the Gamecube was running this is amazing.
Best game in the franchise next to Fusion imo.
